Food was outstanding , prices very reasonable, atmosphere unparalleled. Great experience.
This was our first time here and it definitely will not be our last. Everything about the Inn says “class.” Our server, Vickie, excellent and took care of our every need. But the rib eye (medium rare) may have been the best I’ve ever had.
Our 4th time: 2 dinners and 1st brunch were excellent.
Easter Sunday, buffet was 45 minutes late and food was cold.
We ate very little and with adjustment to bill, it was still a $55 for 2 breakfast.
Food was fair. Lobster bisque was lacking flavor and depth. Crab sandwich was full of breading Will try this restaurant again but this was not the quality I expected from this establishment
The venue was very nice and wee were seated promptly. We ordered the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. The beet salad was very good, followed by a lobster bisque that was decent. The Chardonnay pairing was ok but not stellar. The sea bass course was very good, but it was paired with a Pinot noir. That would not have been my choice but I can let it slide. We were looking forward to the main course, a beef filet with lobster tail, but it was a dismal failure. The plate came out, but we had no silverware. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery. The filet was covered with a dollop of paste that can only be described as barbecue sauce. The filet was also paired with a white wine, which came out late. I think smearing barbecue sauce on a filet is illegal in most states, but pairing it with a white wine aggravates the crime even more. There were a few things they did well, but the errors were egregious and really make me question if there is any knowledgeable quality control in management. For the high price point (>$275 for two plus tip), there are many other options in the area that provide excellent service and very good food. Skip the Manor House and reward establishments who take their craft seriously.
Our reservation was dinner for four at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate my husband's birthday. The Inn called me the day before to confirm and I said we'd be there. At that time I stated that I was a Spa member and as such get a discount at the Manor House. Do I need to notify our server of this? I was assured that it was already in the system and there should be no problem. Great!
Our party arrived on time but to our chagrin there wasn't a single table set up for a party of 4. What was the point of confirming the reservation if they weren't going to be ready for us? We were seated after several minutes and when we were each handed a leather-bound menu, mine was empty, as were several others when they tried to bring me a replacement. I eventually was given a menu, we ordered, and sat back to enjoy the evening.
Our food and drinks were very good and the atmosphere was lovely: stone interior, high beams, and warming fire. When I got the check, sadly I wasn't surprised that my membership discount had not been applied. Our server returned shortly with a corrected version, we paid, and said our goodbyes.
We like the Manor House Inn and Pub for its convenience to us. And the dinner we had the week before in the Pub was perfect. But truthfully the restaurant would serve themselves better to correct the small things that interfere with a big evening. It will make a difference, I'm sure.
Had a great time, food was wonderful and excellent service. I think the storm kept people away that night but both the wife and I enjoyed it very much.
Very average, went for the brunch buffet only to find they discontinued 30 day prior. Should have updated the online info and saved me the trip.
We have had Sunday brunch buffet here several times and always enjoy the food selection and ambiance. When we went this past Sunday, however, the restaurant had switched from a buffet to an a la carte menu. The continental breakfast bar (i.e., pastries) and dessert bar were included with each entrée so -- for me -- this change was a better value for my money. The ambiance was still just as exquisite and our server was great.
I highly recommend the Manor House.
My husband and I enjoyed a local weekend getaway to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The Manor House was amazing. Looking forward to returning again.
This place is fantastic! We went for a Saturday Valentine lunch date; it is pricey, but so worth it! Delicious French onion soup, great wine, AMAZING FRIES!! (I know that sounds silly, but truly the best fries we've ever had), great salads, great crabcake sandwhich, AWESOME dessert (see the gold flecks in the picture? EDIBLE GOLD) -- add beautiful setting, excellent service -- this place is a gem. Located next to a cute inn and spa; this would be the perfect place for a quick get-away from DC area. We can't wait to go back and stay at the inn!
Awesome food. Service still not to the level you would predict for what you pay. Charming beautiful restaurant.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience! First, we arrived early to enjoy drinks in the bar area. The bar area is large and comfortable. We sat down for dinner and were served by Adam who was outstanding, professional and fun. Adam was so wonderful ... we noticed that he never once replied with "no problem" - his interaction and professionalism was just great. He had fun, we had fun as well.
The food was very good and well presented. My wife had the filet and lobster - both were perfectly done and delicious. I had one of the chicken dishes and it was excellent.
We enjoyed our visit and recommend it to anyone wanting a special occasion. If I lived in that area, I would certainly frequent the bar!
This place is gorgeous, ambience, perfect.
However, that's where it stops. Food was, ok.. But not worth the money paid. The staff was friendly but inexperienced, and it showed.. Just missing "something". For the same money, I could too to Morton's, get great ambiance, food that will knock your socks off and experienced staff that really know how to treat customers and give that little extra "something". I would go back, but not for the food. I also didn't appreciate the many calls from them trying to entice me to stay the evening. Shoot me an email, sent me a text, but don't harass me. Lastly, when my check came back, an ant came scampering out.
Manor House is the place we love to celebrate ... whatever! Our reservation was for lunch and the menu offered a wonderful selection from appetizer to dessert. Please give this quiet “country estate” the opportunity to make your day something special.
This is our second time here. Once again the food was top notch. Service was a little lackluster. We would have loved to order another bottle of wine but we lost our waitress for about 20 minutes and by the time she came back it was getting late so we passed on it. Food, although delicious, took an extremely long time to arrive.
Food was fantastic! Better than Trummer's On Main.
We went there for our anniversary and had the Chef's tasting menu, and the food was great. It is an open dinning area with a fantastic atmosphere, it was quiet and we were able to talk without raising our voices. The wait staff is young but our server was fantastic. We will be returning.
unique, country style atmosphere; great food, unmatched in area
It was beautiful as we were seated by a roaring fire, but service was terrible. Our drink orders took 45 minutes to come, the appetizers took an hour from when we ordered after we had drinks , and our meals took 2 hours. We were there for 3.5 hours for three courses of food. There were not many people there, but still our waiter was rarely to be found. Getting another round of drinks was difficult
And was not done with our waiter. If you are staying at the inn, this service might be ok, but not if you are driving those windy country roads home late at night
Lovely new entrance to the grounds which was welcome as we arrived after dark. Building and grounds were bright with seasonal lighting. The bar was our first stop as it had a beautiful fireplace and elegant seating. The service was prompt and the options were extensive.
The main dining room was again decorated for the season with a giant tree in one corner of the two story room. Tables are large and seating very comfortable. Service was exceptional on the part of all who waited our table. Food was extraordinary with chef's personal touch evident in some of the variations on seafood and beef dishes. Best dining experience we've had in a long, long time. Wonderful !
Beautiful, serene location, helpful staff, nice rooms in the $198 to $399 range. The food was first class.
Very nice experience. Food prepared well and service was great
Fantastic food and service. A bit expensice about $45 per person without drinks but worth every penny. Very romantic!
We had a great dinner at The Manor House. We ordered the tasting menu, it was delicious. I would definitely go back to The Manor House.
Dining options can be further enhanced by adding more meats to buffet.
This place made another memorable anniversary. One of the best things was feeling very welcome from the manager to the chef to the waitress. All of them came over to wish us happy anniversary. Will definitely go back.
Lovely setting and manor house. Excellent service and outstanding dinners. Exceptional chocolate tart for dessert!
Very nice restaurant and spa. Well worth the drive for dinner or a spa visit.
The Resturant is superb and the wait staff is excellent but not stiff. I had the filet and it was done perfectly with freshly made bernaise sauce with whipped potatoes in marrow gravy. Dessert was a vanilla creme brûlée. Delicious! Great Margaritas and nice wine selection.
We take lunch or Sunday Brunch here on the average of twice a month. This is the first time that the service was sub-par. Disappointing. We like the menu and the facility. We live close by, so we will return. See how it goes.
Disapppointed. We ordered Talisker scotch (which is on the single malt scotch menu list), neat. Were served Chivas on the rocks, with no explanation. Wine pour was skimpy. Website says required attire in the dining room is "business casual." A loud party of four was seated next to us, men in shorts and polo shirts (tails out), women in similar attire, one wearing a baseball cap. So much for me wearing a jacket and tie and my wife in a nice dress, celebrating our anniversary. The food, however, was very good. Kudos to the chef and staff. But the service wasn't quite up to the price level and the disregard for the dress policy shows a lack of standards. Given the number of other restaurants to choose from in the area, I doubt we'll return here. But if we do, it will likely be for a casual evening in the lounge, not a pricey dinner in the main dining room.
Unfortunately we were unaware that dark, nice jeans paired with a blouse are not considered "proper attire" and we were not permitted to sit in the nearly empty dining room with only 5 other people present. We were shunned to the bar to hunch over a low table and eat our anniversary ($120) meal.
Management should alert people (especially those that make reservations 2 months in advance) that the restaurant is not only proper, but formal attire required. Completely ridiculous.
The Chilean Sea Bass was incredible! The waiter's wine recommendations were exactly on point for what we wanted.
First time at the Manor House. We found it by chance one Sunday drive months ago and decided to give it a go to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance and staff couldn't have been more pleasant. The variety and uniqueness of the Sunday brunch offerings was exquisite. Not to slight the Andouille gravy with scratch biscuits (fabulous!) but the chocolate/salted caramel tort was absolutely the sweetest treat we've had in a very long time. Definitely worth the risk of sneaking one or two out in a purse! Oh yeah, we'll be back.
We went with the tasting menu last night, thoroughly enjoyed it. This added with the great service made for a great night out.
Everything was great except the service was so-so. Our server was nice enough, but he didn't know the menu well enough (had to look at notes for the special and didn't know what types of ice cream were available for dessert) and had a hard time delivering our drinks on time , filling our water glasses, and setting the table with the silverware before the next course. I used to be a waiter back in the day at a nice restaurant, so I'm more aware of this issue than most customers. Like my restaurant manager used to say, "Know your mise en place"! Everything else was great. Atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was great. Would definitely come back, but servers need more training and experience, which I put squarely on the manager.
We are usually very impressed with the Manor House; however, our visit last Friday was a big disappointment. I will send a private message to the restaurant in hopes that there is improvement.
Great service and food. Wine list was a little confusing (three different lists) and the menu on the Open Table link was totally different than the restaurant menu. Didn't impact the overall experience.
Awesome food and very friendly staff. The waffles were amazing and the desserts were just adorable.
My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the Manor House Restaurant this past Saturday evening. We weren't in a hurry, and enjoyed the atmosphere very much, but the service was incredibly slow for each part of the meal. It took about 10-15 minutes for a waiter to approach us, and delayed amounts of time for each course, including drinks. My filet was very cold when it came out. We didn't want to complain on our anniversary so we tried to just enjoy our time, but for the price of the meals and drinks, the service was not up to par. We also let them know on the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, and there was no mention of it at all during the entire meal (not a huge deal--but it's always a nice touch when restaurants acknowledge things like that when you chose their restaurant as a place for celebration).
