The Mango Tree Restaurant - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Very good food with good menu choices well prepared. The service was very friendly, respectful, an efficient. Prices are more expensive than many restaurants, but represent a good value in view of the food, preparation and service. This restaurant is on our list whenever we visit the Cocoa Beach area.
We've eaten at the Mango Tree many times, and it is typically a fine spot for good food and what passes for elegance in Cocoa Beach. This time, however, the noise level was a real problem, caused primarily by one loud table of six diners, who seemed to believe they were in sports bar. A sever could have asked them gently to dial it down a bit, but alas, no one did. Our servers (we could not figure out which of the two it truly was) tried hard but they were over-matched by the crowd of diners. One of our servers just dripped, distastefully, with sweat, even leaving a drop or two on our table. The restaurant was understaffed.
Everybody gets a bad night. We'll go back someday and hope for a more typical experience.
I had the pork chop and my wife had the lamb chops. Both entrees were very good. My wife loved the beet salad. We really appreciated that they offered half portions for both meals since we had no place to store leftovers. Having live guitar music was a nice touch, but the noise level hindered our appreciation of the playing. The service was slower than we liked.
This was a special evening to celebrate a mother and daughter same day birthday. We arrived at the requested reservation time and were seated right away. Being the Valentine day weekend the restaurant was kinda busy. Nontheless, our waiter was friendly and attentive. Drinks and starters arrived promptly and main courses followed properly. The food quality was very good as agreed by all. Desert was served with lighted candles, staff singing Happy Birthday along with a guitarist who had been providing background music throughout the evening. What a pleasant surprise. A very enjoyable evening. Kudos to the staff at The Mango Tree.
My husband and I have been to the Mango Tree numerous times. It never disappoints us. The food is excellent, the service, impeccable. The atmosphere is very romantic and appealing. The owners are extremely accommodating and there is always attention to the smallest details. We love this place and are planning to host our 20th Wedding Anniversary there in two years. Highly recommend it for a special night out, dinner with someone special or just because you deserve it.
Everything was lovely with the exception of where we were originally seated. With a reservation from Open Table or any reservation for that matter I certainly expected better than what we got. The first table was actually in the middle of the bar at a table that was so low my legs barely fit underneath. The bar was so noisy that we requested another table(of which there were plenty) in a quieter place. When going back I'll be sure to specify a table in another room. But...why would I need to do this when PLENTY of better tables were available?
The Mango Tree is one of the BEST restaurants I have ever eaten in, and this includes upscale restaurants in New York City. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and informative. We are 2 of the specials for the night and would recommend anything that the chef is considering a special. And the desserts, well they were ridiculously good. Homemade Guava Sorbet.
From r an upscale experience, you will not be disappointed in the Mango Tree.
Second visit for Holiday Meals this year and both were excellent . New Years Menu was a combination of choices that fit every ones preferences. We all ordered different things and the only complaint was that the Duck was a little over cooked. All other items were just perfect and enjoyed.
Service was another question. Our server was a nice lady but inept. We were her first table that night and were a party of 3. Both cocktail orders were wrong , a Martini with a twist came with olives and a Manhatten on the rocks came straight up. Wine came in a bottle so it was fine. The assistant server Jason paid more attention to the table than the server. His service was exactly what you expect good service to be.
Love this restaurant and will return but the service on this occasion was less than that experienced in the past.
We visit South Cocoa Beach for 1 week each December and, since discovering the Mango Tree, we make it our 'special dining experience'. Food is excellent and the staff make us feel very special. Wine list is varied and includes some excellent national and international bottles. 'Days Catch' specials are always awesome. We'll definitely be back next year!
This is Cocoa Beach's best restaurant, even there are not a lot of choices. We would compare this dining experience to be as good as most highly-rated restaurants in any major city. The owners are very friendly, their long-time staff are professional and the guitar player is great. Besides lots of romantic spots scattered about in the several rooms, the large table over-seeing the kitchen is a fun time.
This is the third time I had Thanksgiving dinner here in the past few years. I enjoyed the food greatly and that is why I keep coming back. This time, however, the service was not up to par. I was a party of one. It seemed as though I was forgotten. I was waiting for so long to order a drink that I finally asked the server who brought me water if I could order a drink from him. I needed some condiments at the table that were not there and had to wait a long time before someone came to check on me. I was very displeased this time. I'm not sure I will return again. The restaurant was not overly busy and it appeared they were catering to the larger groups. I would have ordered another drink if someone had checked on me. I was going to not leave a tip at all but I thought better of it and left the standard 15% and I usually leave at least 20% and more if the service is exceptional.
Our family had an amazing dining experience this Thanksgiving at The Mango Tree. We all agreed that the food was truly fabulous. Our server was incredible-especially as she was taking care of all tables in the restaurant due to other serving staff being "no shows". We were truly impressed with everything the Mango Tree has to offer and plan on visiting again soon and often! Thank you to all who made our family's Thanksgiving so special this year.
Were there with family for Thanksgiving. Limited menu as advertised - two of us had the Beef Bourguignon and two the Turkey dinner - both good. The service a bit slower than we would have liked; yet it seemed a skeleton staff on this special holiday and we weren't disappointed. We will return to explore their full menu. Thanks to Mark for making this family dinner special.
We had Thanksgiving lunch at The Mango Tree Restaurant. It was delightful. The staff is so nice and hospitable. The appetizers were delicious. The entrées were stunning. It was the BEST Thanksgiving turkey in history. They did something wonderful with winter squash that was heavenly. The desert was also rocking. I'm grateful to the chef for sharing such delicious food with me. We will come back soon for sure!
It took forever to get our food. I mean like over an hour. The restaurant wasn't crowded. The food was good when it finally came.
It was for my wife's birthday. A little disappointing. We still tipped well. Actually overtopped. However, I won't be going back. We like out. I was hoping for a nice and fun experience. I prefer Fat Snook. The service is impeccable.
Our first time in area. The restaurant is cozy and warm, the guitar player good and his volume was perfect for table conversation.Saturday evening and the place was 20% full.
Our server John had his own agenda, when told we were not in a hurry and would order salads/main course in time he didn't get message, and tried to push us to order, not once but several times. He said food was authentic italian not chain food,we let him know we travel to italy often.
The calamari was good, the grilled caesar salad was horrible, the veal scaloppini came with a steak knife, need I say more, the grouper was good but served cold, mainly because john got interested in two ladies at another table.
i do not like to write a poor review, but members need to know as well as owner/chef.
We had not been to the Mango Tree in a few years, and decided to try it again. My husband and I each had a cocktail, a glass of wine, appetizers, entrées and shared three mini desserts. The bill was $100, which was an excellent value considering the quality of the food.
The meal started with a complimentary appetizer of baked ricotta. I had the beef carpaccio, which was fabulous. My husband ordered the "in house" smoked salmon, which was delicious. Out entrées were the paella and the pounded veal chop with porcini mushroom sauce, both were wonderful. The Mango Tree offers mini desserts as an option. We tried the tiramisu, a lemony custard and a hot chocolate lava with pistachio ice cream......a heavenly way to end our meal!
Thanks to the Mango Tree Restaurant for a wonderful evening. We travel extensively, eat at many restaurants around the country. This place provided one of the best dinners in a long time. The service was WONDERFUL. Don't miss out on the salmon. Truly a great place with nice people.
This restaurant was recommended as "upscale dining" but we were disappointed. Why were only 3 slices of bread brought to the table when there were 2 people dining? Either bring 2 slices or 4. The menu indicates that there is a charge for additional bread! We had pasta amatriciana as an appetizer, and it was fair. I got the small portion of a pork chop, and my husband got veal scallopine, which he thought was good. My pork was fair, and then I found the string in it that had probably been used to tie up the larger piece of pork from which it was cut. I must say that the waitress brought this to the attention of the owner as soon as I told her. The owner came to the table, apologized, and said we would not be charged for the meal. Despite this courtesy, I must say I left The Mango Tree on an unhappy note.
Asked locals about a quiet restaurant for a special occasion - and was recommended the Mango Tree. Food was very good - and the menu had very good selections. Service - even for a very slow night was a little spotty. Enjoyed everything that was served. The dessert menu was unique and offered small plates - which was ideal. Would definitely go again.
We took my GF Mother there for her Birthday on Saturday night for a festive evening. Not the case. It started with a phone call to the restaurant as well as a note to ensure they were aware my GF is a Vegan and would need a meal to consist of some great culinary concoction made for her from the Chef's that night from their great array of veggies. They failed miserably on multiple fronts starting with their internal communication by not providing her with a great meal but a anorexic portion of ratatouille....and then they blamed the server for delivering a half order. They offered her another portion of the same meal.....The Hostess said they were aware but told me they had written down a pasta meal requested by me. Clearly a lie as I WOULD NEVER order her pasta. She apologized for the issue. Damage Done. The Birthday Girl ( Her 83 year old mother) had to use a knife to cut through her chicken dinner that was terrible. My meal was the same as the Birthday girl as just as bad.
Best part of the evening was the lava cake delivered, after being reminded of the phone call I made the day before, the guitar coming tableside a playing her Happy Birthday!!!!!.....
The bill versus the quality of food were on separate planets. I have no problem with high end foods meeting quality standard but felt of this night I paid for an expensive birthday dinner that rendered the quality less than KFC. As far as a return to this establishment, only if it turns into a soup kitchen and I am stranded in Cocoa Beach with nowhere to eat....then......Probably not......
BTW: they only offered a limited entrée ( around 6) which should have allowed the Kitchen to create a meal of Veggies....but was told they were overwhelmed that night. Restaurant was only 1/2 full but I was told their were completely booked....Love the Lies....
The food here is very good, as is the sevice. However, I'm not sure if our waiter was new but he did not seem as knowledgeable about the menu and bar items as one would expect in a restaurant which charges the prices that they do. One of the entrees came out undercooked as well; the manager immediately took care of it and offered a free cocktail as compensation, which was a sufficient compensation for a minor inconvenience. Overall a nice place with very good food, maybe a bit over priced but I would (and will) go back.
