The Majestic Yosemite Hotel conveys a feeling of elegance and refinement while maintaining a comfortable, natural atmosphere. The logs of stripped and polished sugar pine, which support the 34-foot-high beamed ceilings, reinforce the rustic ambiance that is reflective of The Majestic’s mountain surroundings.
The prices are a little high but I don’t know of anyplace that beats the history and beauty. Definitely an awesome special event opportunity. Every employee was very gentle.
Excellent restaurant with great food...... that embodied hospitality, first class service and a staff from top to bottom that went out of their way to assure your happiness and comfort.
Beautiful dining room. Adequate service. Mediocre food. Better to just enjoy a drink in the lobby.
The hostess's have a bad habit of making you wait for seating at a table even thought you have a reservation and the tables are mostly vacant. Bad personal habit of the hostess. Otherwise a great experience.
The dining room of the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, formerly the Ahwahnee, is excellent. Although expensive, it is good value.
Always a wonderful experience. What I was not aware of is that the open table app only posts a few reservation spots. We were surprised to find plenty of tables that were available. I appreciate using this app. But do check the restaurant if the app says there are no reservations available.
We celebrated with Manhattans we ordered at the bar and the waitress suggested we could take them to any of the many sitting areas near the several fireplaces near the dining room. Delightful!
Dinner was a late seating at the Majestic 8:30 pm the day before Valentines. Real candles on the tables, white linen service. I was prepared to hear they were out of this, out of that. Exactly opposite. Hubby had one of the best french onion soups he had ever had. Served bubbly hot crusty with gruyere and a toasted slice of french bread. He also had and a New York steak cooked exactly medium rare while I enjoyed rack of lamb perfectly prepared pink and juicy with interesting collection of small tasty vegetables. Huge serving which could be enjoyed for lunch the next day. Tea arrived with a teapot! It's my benchmark of a truly great restaurant ---they pay attention to their tea drinkers.
George our server has been there 40 years, was attentive, warm and very professional. The pianist had a versatile repertoire of background music. We were among the last to leave but were never hurried or rushed. They understood this was a special evening for us and we loved every moment.
No better ambiance. Food was just average, expected better.
My husband took me here for my Birthday, I was so impressed. Our service was excellent, the staff was great. The piano player was excellent, food was great. The ambiance was amazing, it is truly a majestic place to have dinner. We pulled up to the red carpet and have the valet take our car, the whole experience was excellent. We loved it!
Sandy at Lunch and David at dinner were very friendly. Josh and Omar the bus boys were very helpful. Prime rib was really good and boysenberry was especially delicious
Looking forward to coming back and trying new dining room menu.
We love having meals at the Majestic Dining Room. The room itself is amazingly beautiful. It’s a very special place in the heart of Yosemite Valley.
The food was exceptional. Really. We had breakfast and dinner there for 2 days and everything was good. The prices are a bit high (especially the breakfast buffet) but it’s worth it. Be sure and try their Onion Soup.
I highly recommend reservations plus there is a dress code at night. Be sure and check before you go.
David and his team did a wonderful job of serving us.
The grand buffet was really grand. The variety and taste is truly something to forward to.
I always wanted to eat here and I am so glad I finally did.
Fantastic service, beautiful live piano music and gorgeous dining room.
Location, location, location. Beautiful, awesome interior.
I realize that when you visit and dine at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel (formerly the Ahwahnee), you are paying for the experience. Yosemite is the crown jewel of our National park system, and the location and scenery couldn't be more stunning.
We took a midweek escape on the spur of the moment and were very happy there was room in the hotel and that dining reservations were available. The host/hostess at the entry was very friendly and we were promptly seated. Things went downhill from there. We dined in the restaurant for two dinners and one breakfast, and each time there was a significant wait for things as simple as coffee or silverware. Each meal had a mistake (brought entrees before soup; bread delivered mid-meal; twenty minute wait for check after breakfast; asking us if we wanted desert before meals delivered, etc...) The prime rib and lamb were well worth the wait, both dinners were prepared well and were excellent.
I live in California and rarely have sticker shock, but the 60$ for a simple breakfast of pancakes for one, an omelet for the other, with two coffees seemed a little steep. The pancakes were delicious, but my husband's omelet and hash browns were comparable to what you would get at the Hampton Inn.
Overall, I think at least one dinner at this place is warranted, just to knock off your bucket list. Lower your expectations on service and drink in the beauty that the lodge and the valley have to offer.
