The Majestic Yosemite Hotel conveys a feeling of elegance and refinement while maintaining a comfortable, natural atmosphere. The logs of stripped and polished sugar pine, which support the 34-foot-high beamed ceilings, reinforce the rustic ambiance that is reflective of The Majestic’s mountain surroundings.
Service mediocre (server very slow, did not know soup of the day, forgot juice, did not know about certain menu items - seemed like for breakfast they expect everyone to order the buffet and if order anything else they’re surprised). Food mediocre at best. You’re there for the view and the history of he hotel - if going for anything else don’t bother.
Always a great dining experience. Unique one of a kind history-rich venue. Thoughtful, attentive service. Good menu.
While staying at the Ahwahnee to celebrate a birthday we ate in the main dining room for breakfasts and several nights. The service is always gracious and attentive. Two of our servers (and their assistants) stand out.....Marty B. and Mike. They are both professional and accommodating while not hovering.
Reservations are really essential unless you are willing to eat quite early or late.
Excellent fine dining, beautiful lodge and memorable experience thank you!
Our waiter, Marty, was superb. His asst. was well meaning but a bit of a nuisance, always fussing about when we wanted to enjoy our food and friends. Overall, the food was overpriced, but the venue is very special.
The greatest location and staff............food darn good too.......20 visits or so over the past 40 years, a unique and memorable experience.
Food was good and setting rustically elegant. Our waiter, Walter, is not happy to be in this kind of work or very good at is; however, his assistant more than made up for his lack of grace, efficiency and charm (and was tipped separately).
One of the most fabulous dining spots in the world. Fabulous architecture. Great views and good hamburgers. Our food--hmmm. Crab dip--not at all good. Onion soup--ordinary. Pork sandwich--ok! Service was inadequate. Not enough servers. Kind servers, however. Talkative. Right on time seated at best available table. Wine was ordered but did not arrive until nearly finished--so we cancelled. Bread was ordered: same thing. Gelatos? Very good. Bar was out of several wines. So go here for lunch for the GREAT architecture and view, the sense of history, the special ambience, the California kindness and a perfectly adequate meal.
We honeymoomed at the Majestic and would also recommend it for a great evening, or breakfast for that matter.
This dining experience is definitely worth the price. The hotel (whose original name is Ahwanee) is beautifully preserved from its early days. The dining room is elegant, the view is great, the service is very good, and the food is also fine. Make reservations far in advance!
Dining at The Majestic is an experience. The dining room is beautiful. The wait staff attentive. The food delicious. I had the Prime Rib with Brussels sprouts and although it was good would order “medium” next time. It was a bit underdone for me. The Caesar salad was wonderful as was the cauliflower appetizer with curry dipping sauce. My husband had the New York steak which he finished! Love the food and experience.
The place is very pretty and historical. The wait staff are very nice. The food is not great and very expensive, and the wine list is good and not too pricey. It was a special day for me so we splurged. It was ok, but we probably would go to another restaurant next time.
Grand old hotel, very reserve. We arrived early and spent time in the bar - while waiting on our reservation, we sat in the great room by the fireplace. A couple came in a took off their shoes and socks and put them near the fire to dry - they walk around bare foot which shocked me. Ambiance great, food okay, slow service, expensive. When I finished a glass of zinfandel, there was sediment all over the glass.
Staying at the iconic Majestic Hotel in the heart of Yosemite Valley had been on our list for years. Finally we did it. Dinner at the hotel was excellent and added a lot to the special experience of visiting the Valley.
Very good food , beautiful surroundings and nice staff.
Wow. GET THE TROUT!!!! Delicious. We enjoyed it while it was snowing outside. It was heavenly...
Fantastic! We went there for our anniversary. Everything was perfect!
We go to Yosemite twice a year and always have one breakfast and dinner with drinks at the bar. The ambiance and the service are impeccable. Expensive, but worth it.
Its the Majestic...rather Awhanee... service AND food seem improved. WE were a BIG family of 14 with 6 under years old...the staff catered to ALL our needs and made us feel not only welcome BUT not a burden to other diners.
Love this restaurant and we eat here every time we visit Yosemite. Wonderful food, fabulous view and ambience, excellent friendly service. You can’t go wrong here. It can get busy on weekend evenings so arrive early or plan on a bit if a wait.
We didn’t have the Sunday Brunch. We just ordered off the menu and everything was very nice
We were a couple enjoying the many walks in the Yosemite National Park and the highlight of our stay was dining at the elegant and historic dining hall of the Majestic Hotel. I highly recommend you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
Great lodge dining room with excellent food. Not cheap - but worth it.
Great atmosphere for a good dinner or breakfast
Amazing venue. Meal was very good and beautifully presented. Service was a little slow therefore food not as hot as it could have been.
Beautiful dinning room and great service. The location cannot be better with an amazing view to Yosemite.
Extremely over priced, an hour and a halve to eat 3 sandwiches and over a hundred dollars later.
Just wanted to experience the old Awahnee. The atmosphere is great, food was just average. Nothing special.
Beautiful setting. Service was friendly but food wasn’t hot. Coffee VERY strong and again not hot.
Great lunch destination before exploring Yosemite. The staff was exceptionally courteous & knowledgeable. The lunch menu was full of good choices & the food was very good. I would return for a dinner date.
I Asked for a table at the windows and we were seated in the alcove and had 3 windows
Beautiful view of the Falls
The restaurant didn’t have draft beer , but was able to get me one from the bar
We eat here every time we go to Yosemite, usually in the Spring
We reserved a table for lunch on a Thursday in mid-April. We were seated promptly and enjoyed the scenery and atmosphere. Our servers were attentive and friendly. The portions were generous and food tasted good, though I did add a bit of salt to my trout. Calamari appetizer and cookie dessert were very good and shared by three of us. The prices are higher due to the location, but didn't seem outrageous. We would probably eat there again on another visit.
Wonderful experience. Beautiful location. Sam and Erin were great!!!
Great place. Great food and service. Highly recommend
The lamb rack was excellent but the duck gnocchi was small with grissly duck. We booked for 7:45pm and were seated at 8:15pm. We weren’t fed until 9:10pm.
We were asked to wait 45 minutes past our reservation confirmation because they did not have enough staff.
Both salads we ordered were awful! The bread/butter mix was good. The crabcakes were good, as was the special steak meal.
Our friends enjoyed the french onion soup and the chicken entree.
Really enjoyed it; the full experience... beautiful setting, historic building, friendly service, decent food. Made for a great capper of a very memorable trip to Yosemite.
Very mediocre food. Very expensive. Horrible value. I ate breakfast and dinner in the dining room and had lunch in the bar while a guest at the hotel. Every meal was over priced and not very good.
