We were here for Breakfast and Dinner. The main kitchen is closed and it shows in the buffet offering. Food is meh at best. The service is spotty - depends on the person - some are amazing, friendly, helpful and informative. Many are not. BUT the room remains amazing and is worth one visit even during construction. Sadly the views are impacted with the temporary kitchen trailers outside and construction access roads and traffic. It will be a great place again when this is all done. In the meantime the trade off is that it is less busy.

The Awahnee dining room never disappoints with its beauty and service. Breakfast food was good. Pretty basic but good. I just had the eggs, potatoes, veggie hash and the biscuits and chorizo gravy, but the service and eating in the dining room is a wonderful experience. I think the breakfast for the price is good.

The buffet offered a wide variety of food, most of it very tasty. Highlights were the spicy cauliflower, the macaroni and cheese (!!!), the try-tip. The shrimp was excellent but not even warm, so I only had one (I'm immunocompromized and have to be careful). Salmon, good. Tempeh, good. The bread was not worth eating and I love bread. The deserts verged on awful. My husband wished he had videoed my reaction to an unknown small container of... I still don't know what. It smelled like the soap in the bathrooms. I took one bite of each, which is something that never happens. The plates were freezing so the food was cold by the time we got back to our table. The buffet is expensive but realistically is a bargain when compared to regular dining at the Ahwanee, where salad is ala carte, as is desert and beverages. Service was impeccable. The maitre d accommodated my request to be seated away from other diners. Shannon, our masked and gloved server was very understanding as well. Warm those plates and get better deserts Ahwahnee and you'll get a 5 next time.

Awahnee dining room just reopened after extensive retrofitting. The setting, as always, is magnificent. However, not yet completed retrofits in the kitchen area means that dinner is limited to buffet style dining. The food was nicely prepared and tasty but limited in variety and the prime rib was not tender but tough. I am allergic to walnuts so I asked our waiter to find out if any of the dishes had walnuts in them; he had to be reminded to ask after we had already started eating. Apart from that, we were well taken care of. I would recommend the Awahnee but would make sure they understood the retrofit situation and that the full menu is not available at this time, January, 2024

The dining room is spectacular and service was excellent. Unfortunately, because the kitchen has not been completed, dinner service was a set buffet. The food was great, but lacked the Ahwanhee level of excellence. Overall the experience was great, but it will be nice once normal service is brought back.

The ambiance is magical. Beautiful and grand dining hall. But the kitchen is still undergoing renovations, so it is a buffet. The food selections were good, but you would expect much better for the price. And it was all just mildly warm. Another important shortcoming was their not labeling the food to warn of allergens. I am allergic to peanuts and the chicken dish labeled merely “Mary’s Chicken” had a peanut sauce. Fortunately my wife had some before I did and warned me. Peanut allergy is a common problem. They don’t even serve them on airplanes anymore. One would think people in the business of serving food would know this is a serious issue and that precautions must be taken.

Our server, Adrian, was engaged and courteous. There were many options for their buffet style dinner; all delicious! Loved the ambiance and background pianist playing great tunes.

The Ahwahnee offers buffets for breakfast and dinner. The buffets are very good and they have offerings for vegans and pescatarians but I would prefer a menu as they had in the past. As always, the Ahwhanee is not about the food but is all about the stunningly beautiful dinning room.

We had such a lovely time at the breakfast buffet. Andrea was our server. She was kind and attentive. The food was delicious. Of course the ambiance can't be beat!
