The prices are a little high but I don’t know of anyplace that beats the history and beauty. Definitely an awesome special event opportunity. Every employee was very gentle.

Beautiful dining room. Adequate service. Mediocre food. Better to just enjoy a drink in the lobby.

The hostess's have a bad habit of making you wait for seating at a table even thought you have a reservation and the tables are mostly vacant. Bad personal habit of the hostess. Otherwise a great experience.

The dining room of the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, formerly the Ahwahnee, is excellent. Although expensive, it is good value.

Always a wonderful experience. What I was not aware of is that the open table app only posts a few reservation spots. We were surprised to find plenty of tables that were available. I appreciate using this app. But do check the restaurant if the app says there are no reservations available.

We celebrated with Manhattans we ordered at the bar and the waitress suggested we could take them to any of the many sitting areas near the several fireplaces near the dining room. Delightful!

Dinner was a late seating at the Majestic 8:30 pm the day before Valentines. Real candles on the tables, white linen service. I was prepared to hear they were out of this, out of that. Exactly opposite. Hubby had one of the best french onion soups he had ever had. Served bubbly hot crusty with gruyere and a toasted slice of french bread. He also had and a New York steak cooked exactly medium rare while I enjoyed rack of lamb perfectly prepared pink and juicy with interesting collection of small tasty vegetables. Huge serving which could be enjoyed for lunch the next day. Tea arrived with a teapot! It's my benchmark of a truly great restaurant ---they pay attention to their tea drinkers.

George our server has been there 40 years, was attentive, warm and very professional. The pianist had a versatile repertoire of background music. We were among the last to leave but were never hurried or rushed. They understood this was a special evening for us and we loved every moment.

My husband took me here for my Birthday, I was so impressed. Our service was excellent, the staff was great. The piano player was excellent, food was great. The ambiance was amazing, it is truly a majestic place to have dinner. We pulled up to the red carpet and have the valet take our car, the whole experience was excellent. We loved it!

Sandy at Lunch and David at dinner were very friendly. Josh and Omar the bus boys were very helpful. Prime rib was really good and boysenberry was especially delicious

Looking forward to coming back and trying new dining room menu.

We love having meals at the Majestic Dining Room. The room itself is amazingly beautiful. It’s a very special place in the heart of Yosemite Valley.
The food was exceptional. Really. We had breakfast and dinner there for 2 days and everything was good. The prices are a bit high (especially the breakfast buffet) but it’s worth it. Be sure and try their Onion Soup.
I highly recommend reservations plus there is a dress code at night. Be sure and check before you go.

I realize that when you visit and dine at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel (formerly the Ahwahnee), you are paying for the experience. Yosemite is the crown jewel of our National park system, and the location and scenery couldn't be more stunning.
We took a midweek escape on the spur of the moment and were very happy there was room in the hotel and that dining reservations were available. The host/hostess at the entry was very friendly and we were promptly seated. Things went downhill from there. We dined in the restaurant for two dinners and one breakfast, and each time there was a significant wait for things as simple as coffee or silverware. Each meal had a mistake (brought entrees before soup; bread delivered mid-meal; twenty minute wait for check after breakfast; asking us if we wanted desert before meals delivered, etc...) The prime rib and lamb were well worth the wait, both dinners were prepared well and were excellent.
I live in California and rarely have sticker shock, but the 60$ for a simple breakfast of pancakes for one, an omelet for the other, with two coffees seemed a little steep. The pancakes were delicious, but my husband's omelet and hash browns were comparable to what you would get at the Hampton Inn.
Overall, I think at least one dinner at this place is warranted, just to knock off your bucket list. Lower your expectations on service and drink in the beauty that the lodge and the valley have to offer.

Good quality was incredibly low. Some food was cold when it arrived, some tasted stale, we had alien items floating in our drinks twice and the lettuce in our salad was colorless and bitter. Would not return

The Majestic Hotel (formerly the Ahwahnee Hotel) has a gorgeous dining room with views of Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point. The service is superb. In the evening there is live piano music played marvelously on a grand piano. The food is very good - beautifully plated, very nice and healthy combinations of food including traditional favorites like prime rib, lovely seafood, various vegetarian options and great desserts. This time of year is the slow season, especially due to the lack of snow. The dining room is very child friendly but still is a delightful venue for couples and small groups of adults. Staff are very accommodating with special food requests. We celebrated my birthday there and it was really memorable.

Excellent service - very top notch. Meal excellent but skimpy - example - potatoes that came with roasted chicken were literally 3 slices of new potatoes, not even 3 new potatoes. Broccolini was 2 very skinny stalks in both my chicken dish and the fish dish.

The ambiance is nice and the service was great. The dress code is not enforced, and the food is lack luster. We had the roasted cauliflower which raw( I could barely cut one of the florets), the duck gnocchi which were rubbery, and the steamed squid came mixed with beans that were underdone as well. Definitely not worth the $$$$

We had 2 breakfasts and a dinner at The Grand Majestic. The staff work hard at taking good care of the guests. There was a long wait for our dinner table reservation but the staff was very apologetic. The food is average at best, but the view more than makes up for it. The vegetable hash was good but had a pool of oil underneath it. It is the best place in the Valley to eat.

Underwhelming - except for the setting...

Of course the setting and room are magnificent. But it's so disappointing when such an incredible place with so much staff and such a huge kitchen and who claim to be "farm to table" has such a limited menu and nothing is very exciting. I wonder if they are trying to cater to an older crowd and worried about making the menu exciting and innovative. But I truly think they can offer much more unique and quality food and only gain clientele and not lose it. The service was also very sub-par and disappointing. When waiters are dressed in suits and customers are expected to dress up, I would sure hope for better and friendlier service. It is sad to say, but I probably would not return despite the amazing setting.

Dinner: Great ambience, mediocre food, awful service.

We requested a window table via Open Table. The hostess was having trouble using the table assignment software when we checked in and after multiple attempts ended up assigning us a table in the middle of the room. She then gave the last remaining window table to a party who arrived AFTER us. It was only after I complained about our table that the manager haughtily informed us we "lost" the window table because we had arrived 15 minutes late (even though we arrived before the party that received the window table). We were eventually seated at a window table in the alcove, a much less desirable location than the main room.

Food was mediocre at best. The poached calamari appetizer tasted mostly of canned cannellini beans, the caesar salad was overdressed with what tasted like bottled dressing, the salmon was overcooked and the accompanying "compote" was mostly corn kernels. Wine list was uninspired. Dinner for two was well over $200 (with one glass of wine).

Breakfast the next morning was much better, pricey $24 buffet but the food was well-prepared and the service was friendly and helpful.

One might expect the food to be so so given the location and history of the Ahwahnee Hotel but both the food and the service was outstanding. In the off season reservations are really not necessary for lunch but probably still are for dinner.
