Our waiter said maybe 10 words to us the whole dinner. He was very clearly annoyed that we were ordering from the restaurant week menu. Our appetizer arrived before our drinks, and we really felt we were being rushed the whole dinner. The food was good, but we were really put off by our waiter. The redeeming factor was after dinner we went downstairs and enjoyed an after dinner cocktail. The bartender Tom was hilarious, explained the cocktail menu to us, and really made our night. The live music was great, and we even had a great conversation at the bar with one of the musicians. We will return for after dinner drinks to enjoy the live music but probably not for dinner.

We ate there before going to Seinfeld. It was our first trip. Wish we could have stayed longer! Since we were in a hurry, we ate from the restaurant week pre fix menu. It was great. Very good “old school” restaurant fair. I had short ribs. My husband had salmon.
Everything was great. I was a bit annoyed by a few fruit flys/gnats buzzing around while trying to eat. One actually took a dive head first in to my beer and committed gnat suicide. I bet our waiter would have given me a new beer, but I was half way through it and we were in a rush, so I did not mention it.
We would like to return and stay longer and order a real steak and listen to some jazz with time to relax.

This was our first time here, tried at lunchtime during restaurant week. The food and service was good. The down side is the parking. We had to pay $6 for parking. Can have lunch, same quality of food with free parking somewhere else.

We like to try new places and in Restaurant Week my friend and I reach out to places we perhaps feel are too expensive for us. I was disappointed that no bread was served or offered. The salad was the best part of the meal. We ordered our steak medium and it came well done. I am not sure if there were more tables than usual but it seemed quite crowded. We had the wait staff butt in our face when they took the order of the table next to us.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food was excellent-- the music even better. We ARE disappointed by the executive chef's decision to get rid of their BEST desert: Tres Leches Cake! The move has left a HUGE hole in the dessert menu!

{2018 KC Restaurant Week review}

My husband and I had a great restaurant week lunch here today! So far it's my favorite place we've visited.

First course:
- House salad was simple...only carrots, tomatoes, & red onion w/ ranch, yet the ingredients were fresh which makes a huge difference.
- Steak soup was rich and flavorful; you could tell they make it in house (I assume!?).

Second course:
- The petite filet was tender & cooked perfectly (medium)! The whipped bourbon butter was delicious and provided just enough moisture for an already tender steak. The mashed potatoes w/ gravy were savory and delicious; butternut squash was just okay.

- Roasted pork loin was also good...applesauce & pork are always a good combo. Broccoli was seasoned so well I wished I could recreate it at home; roasted potatoes were just okay.

- Fried Risotto (ordered off the regular menu) was too cheesy inside and too fried for me. It lost the risotto effect. My husband thought they were still really good, but I only ate 1/2 of one and was done.

- Shrimp Lejone (ordered off the regular menu) was SO good if you like horseradish.

We were seated right away and we couldn't have asked for a better server; he was helpful, attentive, and genuine.

I was at The Majestic for the first time for Restaurant Week in KC, with my husband and daughter. We will definitely return. The space is historic, unique and beautiful. Our food was delicious with generous portions. I had the 6 oz. Grilled Filet. It was prepared to my medium-rare request perfectly, and the flavor was truly delicious. It lived up to the promise of local, specialty, premium meats. We will return to dine and listen to their Jazz performances in the future. Maybe we'll even come in contact with one of the 16 spirits dwelling within their walls!

We went during Restaurant Week as an opportunity to check it out, I would definitely go bad. The menu for week was good, but there are many great options and I loved the live jazz music.

Dined here during KC Restaurant Week. Even the limited menu was generous fare. Food was excellent. Music downstairs was outstanding although the volume could have been a little lower. A drum set is a little too loud for that small space.

The steak soup is one note. The tomato basil soup was barely warm. The twice-baked potato tasted like it was yesterday's, re-warmed. The pork chop was over-cooked. They were out of hte bottle of wine we ordered. The salmon/scallop dinner was good.

The overall experience was good for the 2018 KC Restaurant Week. I selected the Braised Short Rib, butternut squash and mashed potatoes. It was delish! I order a Lemon drop martini prior to my meal and afterwards. It was yummy!

Overall we had a good meal. This restaurant was really talked up so the expectations were probably too high. I had salmon, he had steak. Nothing noteworthy but good. Loved the venue. Our server was attentive, and we were never rushed. I will return.

This was our first visit to The Majestic and it won’t be out last. Everything beginning with our waiter, the three courses, etc. was most excellent. Now that we know about the jazz quartet downstairs we will return for dinner and drinks and jazz!

Reserved for lunch during restaurant week and was quite disappointed in the food and the service. Waited at door for nearly 5 minutes before someone came to greet us. We were seated at a table by host and before we could ask for different seats he took off. When he returned and we asked for the one available booth we were told no in a snide manner. We asked why and were given some strange response about table turnover and size of parties. No sooner than my party of four was seated another party of four for the same reservation time was seated there. Only 2 servers and one bus boy so service was slow. Soup was cold, entrees were room temperature . Ordered coffee but never got a spoon. When requested I had drank the whole cup before it arrived. They ran out of the dessert offerings. Had heard good things about this restaurant but it didn’t live up to them. I will not return.

We chose this restaurant from the KC Restaurant Week list. The service was good...not exceptional...but good. I had to ask for more hot water for my tea and wasn’t given a new tea bag so it was just hot water. The food was good. I had the Hummus which was the best part of the whole meal. The salmon was very tasty, but the polenta was a bit bland. I did also enjoy the butternut squash accompaniment.

I had to pay $10 just to park (not the norm for all of the other areas in KC).

All in all I probably would not go back.

Again, this was for Restaurant Week so my expectations and my previous RW experience this year may have set the bar a bit high.

Restaurant week fare is just okay-not appetizing. We had good experiences here with ordering delicious steaks in the past and decided to return. We diverted from steak orders which weren’t included on the restaurant week menu and were a little disappointed. I had the seafood and my husband had 2 chunks of pork (presumably the pork chops). From the outset, the rolls were dry, the steak soup had very little steak in it and was mostly gravy, the desserts (bread pudding and dry chocolate tort) weren’t anything to swoon over, and the entrees were not impressive. Had this been my introduction to the Majestic, I would not return or recommend this restaurant to others, but since I had eaten there on several occasions, just recently in December for my husband’s office party, I know just how good the steaks are. I expected better. Not worth the $120.00 spent which included 2 glasses of wine.

We had eaten @ Majestic (1st time) back in July for our anniversary. So, decided to go during restaurant week as we had tickets @ KC Music Hall. The food, this time, was fair. My steak was cooked incorrectly (ordered med well & it was cooked to med rare @ best) so I sent it back & by the time they returned it my husband was nearly finished eating. 😐 the cut up potatoes offered as a side were bland & flavorless. The steak (KC Strip) had a lot of fat. I don’t know if we will return......very disappointing but at least it was the rest week price.

We went for restaurant week. Great music and atmosphere. Our server was knowledgeable and nice, although we lost him for awhile about halfway through the meal. Our main course took a long time to arrive, and when it did our steaks varied pretty widely in quality and consistency of doneness (we all ordered the same). Granted, we ordered from the restaurant week menu, and so expect a little less quality cut of meat for the price, but several in our party had gristly & tough steaks. Would give it another try, but that was disappointing for sure.

We went to Majestic while in town for an NFL game last weekend. It was ok. Service, drinks and dessert (creme brulee) were amazing. I ordered a T-bone and that was just ok, it was similar to a regular grocery steak quality which is a bit disappointing. It was edible, but just ok. Cocktails and Dessert made up for it.
