The Majestic Restaurant carries on the Kansas City traditions of great food and great jazz. We serve brunch Saturday and Sunday, lunch Monday-Friday, and dinner seven nights a week. Featuring Kansas City's best dry-aged beef, chops, and seafood and located in the historic Fitzpatrick Saloon building at 10th and Broadway in downtown Kansas City, The Majestic Restaurant offers a true Kansas City dining experience like no other. Enjoy a great steak and fine wine in our main dining room alongside a grand bar dating back to 1910, or have dinner in our lower level jazz club, the site of an actual speakeasy during prohibition, all while listening to some of Kansas City's best jazz musicians seven nights a week. An extensive wine list, creative cocktails by nationally renowned bartender Shawn Moriarty, a list of over 100 whiskeys, and a sinful selection of delectable homemade desserts provide the perfect accompaniment to the meal and the music.

The atmosphere was excellent and the food was spot on! All of this and the jazz music topped off the evening! I have lived in the area my entire life and am sorry that it took me this long to experience this place! Top Marks indeed!

We were seated in the jazz club for my husband's birthday dinner. While the music and ambiance was very enjoyable, the food was just acceptable and the service left a great deal to be desired. Our server was not friendly, seemed put out to even be attending to us and was absent much of the time, all of which put a damper on my husband's celebration. I was very disappointed and would not recommend The Majestic for dinner. However, I would recommend it to have a drink and enjoy the live jazz performances.

The Majestic continues to be perhaps the iconic independent Kansas City place for steak. The menu is more or less geared to the steak and potatoes crowd. The wine list is excellent. The setting is authentic, and you can here live jazz on the weekends in the basement (call for reservation in the jazz room at least a week in advance).

Although the music was decent, this was not the venue I was hoping for. I was looking for history and charm. Instead, it felt like an old Steak and Ale. Wouldn’t go back.

In spite of a busy lunch crowd, food and service were top notch, as always. I was a little skeptical about the BBQ sauce served with the hanger steak, but it was a nice compliment rather than overpowering the excellent flavor of the beef. The jicama slaw is positively inspired!

We had the steaks my wife had the filet and I had the ribeye dry age for 32 days.
The steaks were some of the best I have had and would recommend that to everyone.
I had a couple of drinks and they were very good also.
The steaks we will remember and we will be going back.

The Majestic was a fantastic, cozy downtown spot for the best steak we've ever had and a great live jazz with the Matt Villinger Trio in the downstairs jazz club. Don't hesitate!

Disappointed in the food. We went for a Valentines date night looking for something special. I ordered the 14oz prime rib eye and it was under cooked-ordered medium and it came mid rare to rare. Not terrible, but for $56 I expected it to cooked perfectly and be seasoned well. It wasn't. 2 dinners and a bottle of wine was $200. I wanted to be "wowed" and just wasn't there. I've had better food at a chain restaurant for less than half the price, and I hate eating at chain restaurants.

As always the food was spot on. I had a Manhattan and an old-fashioned, both were made to perfection. I rated it as a quiet place because we were upstairs, downstairs is less conducive to conversation, but the jazz is always good there too, this was just not "that kind of party".

Food was excellent, service was good and the ambience was inviting and comfortable. Word of caution though, as I was hoping to see and hear some live Jazz music, we were seated upstairs (Jazz is downstairs) and could not. Unless you specify where you want to sit when you make the reservation, you may end up getting seated where no live music is playing. Should specify downstairs if you want to sit in the Jazz area or upstairs for a more quiet experience.

Actually, this was the second time in a week that I dined here. (Long story) Both visits were great. We had more time on the first visit to sit and listen to jazz (downstairs); the second time we had theater tickets and ate a bit faster. Had the same waiter both times. Food came out in a timely manner and was hot. Our waiter got all of our orders right. He was very friendly and efficient.

We enjoyed the music and service at brunch. We were a bit too close to a large group who were loud and it was hard for the waiter to service that group without bumping into our chairs. My dining companions enjoyed their food of the majestic breakfast (granola pancake was very tasty) and the steak eggs benedict but I made the wrong choice with the spinach salad.

Date night for my wife's birthday. Dinner & the live jazz hit the spot. The jazz room in the basement of The Majestic is a cool place. We'll definitely be back.

This was my husbands and my valentine dinner. Pleasant atmosphere but didn't care for the seating. Always have hated the half bench half chair tables. Table were decorated nicely though with candles and fresh flowers. Sitting a little close to our neighbors though for comfort and privacy. Food was marginal. Decided to splurge and get the Wagyu steak and share it since it was so expensive. Did not enjoy the steak at all. Seemed very tough and seemed undercooked to me but my husband seemed to enjoy it. I had the mac and cheese and broccoli sides which were delicious. Ended up with a piece of plastic in my salad which was apologized for by our attentive waiter. Was given 2 free desserts which I assume was to make amends for the plastic. i had the cream brule and my husband the chocolate pie. Neither was great. Cream brule was the wrong texture. More like a pudding than a custard. Chocolate pie was almost bitter but once again my husband seemed to enjoy it. Maybe my taste buds were just off that night. Our service was excellent though.

Overpriced, slow service, mediocre food. For $50-$60 per plate, we expected a delicious dinner. Steak was tender but flavorless and baked potato needed another 20 minutes in the oven. The house salad and bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizers were good. The waiter was slow to take orders and check on things. The booth cushions were in poor condition. For this price I recommend J. Gilbert's or JJ's on the Plaza. We were very disappointed and wanted it to be good since it is such a historic KC restaurant.

My only beef is that I made the reservation weeks ago and assumed that they would sit me in the basement for live music. This was not the case. Apparently, unless your open table reservation specifically says in the basement they won't put you down there

This was probably one of the best restaurant experiences ever. Saturday night, filled with people but not over-crowded. My 12-year old son and I ate in the the basement jazz club. Our server Clint gave my son a quick history of speakeasies and jazz clubs and the combo led by Bram Wijnands was amazing. A great lesson in jazz...the real deal. Service was exceptional, food including a ribeye was perfect. Custom-made drinks were reasonably priced. Terrific restaurant for both locals and out-of-towners looking for the quintessential KC experience!

Good steaks and prime rib with live Jazz. The music is great. They have two levels, one upstairs and the downstairs Jazz club. Highly recommend the Jazz club. Good wine list.
