The Majestic Restaurant
As always, excellent! The best steak in KC! My only suggestion is that they bring back the chocolate cake they had prior to this one. This one has banana and is not near as tasty.
Great as always.
Good food and atmosphere.
Should the food great. A touch loud for me but my hearing is not that good.
The Jazz bar was great. The drink selection was superb for any whiskey or bourbon connoisseur, with quite a selection for other drinks as well. Definitely worth mentioning to friends!
My favorite place!!!
Too expensive for quality of product.
Please know that Brandon was awesome and so was the hostess and the piano player was fabulous
The food is incredible! Our server Brandon made our experience so fun! The staff members were all very friendly! Loved the atmosphere!! We will be back with some friends!
We really like the atmosphere and the service was great. The wine we picked out was superb as well. However, I was not very impressed by the food. I felt our steaks did not have much flavor and truthfully served closer to warm than fresh off the grill. I had the creamed spinach as a side and it was honestly the star of both of our dishes. For the price we paid, I would not eat here again but I would probably come here again for the atmosphere and drinks.
Also, we were here for a birthday and the reservation was made that way. I understand that there may not be a lot of communication with the servers and the hosts, but a mention of this would have been great at some point in the evening.
Great services and really good food. Definitely I recommend to other people.
Excellent food, service and music.
Stuck us by the kitchen, could see piano.
Amazing restaurant with great food and service. Nice change to the norm.
Wonderful experience. The food was great, the service was equally as good!
Great food, great service, overpriced
Wonderful place to go for jazz and ambiance. The food doesn’t live up to its price point though. Although good, it’s not special as this place could be. All in all though , don’t miss this historic building. Take the time to investigate it’s interesting history.
We make an annual trip to KC every year with a stop at the Majestic. However this year the experience was poor. Our steaks were cold and mediocre. Though the staff was very friendly and apologetic, it still put a damper on our evening.
We were looking for live jazz during our one free night in Kansas City, and this place was on multiple lists, including that of a jazz-loving friend of a friend. Loved dining in the downstairs jazz room. Great seat close (but not too close) to the trio. Service was excellent. Food was steakhouse good but not amazing... as good as any name-brand steakhouse. If you enjoy live jazz and want a fine-dining meal in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place. And although we were dining as a couple, they easily accommodated large groups as well as single diners.
The music was great. Service great. Prime rib was tough and not worth $58. Disappointing especially given the occasion of our 29th wedding anniversary.
Our server was awesome. Great ambiance, great food. The steaks were to die for.
Great service and atmosphere. Food is always good.
I really was looking forward to enjoying this place. However as we are getting ready to order, they informed us they were out of filets and it’s one of their specialties!!! How does a restaurant run out of the best cut of steak (at least in my opinion) by 7:30 on a Saturday evening. So we settled for a t-bone which was good, but just not the same. Now the jazz music was awesome and made up for the letdown on the steak. The twice baked potato was really good, but would have been better with the filet I was looking forward to. I’ll give it another shot at redeeming itself when I’m back on the KC area.
Amazing live jazz trio, off the scale food and service and the ambiance of the entire restaurant is fantastic!! We’ll be back and will highly recommend it to others!!
Fabulous as always.
beautiful historic atmosphere...quality food...good service.
Great service. Had the Ribeye special with scallops. Everything was perfectly done. Jazz trio was great but hard to talk over (knew it would be and enjoyed the music).
Out of town business guests enjoy this place as it captures the essence of old Kansas City with the Jazz and good beef. Service was fantastic. Not a cheap place, but the music is free, and worth $$$ on its own.
Loved the energy of the staff and the vibe of the downstairs jazz room
Outstanding service & a great menu full of delicious choices. Our party of 4 enjoyed different dishes, each one was beautifully presented & had amazing flavor. Definitely recommend!
Great food and waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and history of the restaurant.
Our favorite brunch, great as always! Beautiful, historic dining room, wonderful service and light piano music. We love the omelets and bellinis!
Jazz club was great. Steaks were also great with sides included.
We loved everything about the restaurant. The service was excellent. Arthur took great care of us. Food was delicious. We will definitely go back.
Absolutely amazing food service and ambiance ! We could not of ask for a better meal! This place is definitely one of a kind !
My husband and I are regular customers of The Majestic. The last several times we've been there have been disappointing. We made a reservation for Sunday brunch on 7/28, only to be told that there had been personal issues for employees so they were down to one server. In the meantime, they had seated patrons without reservations to where the hostess told us that we'd have to wait 15-20 minutes. A simple phone call to the number tied to the reservation would've avoided this situation, as we went ahead and left. Then, we made a reservation for Saturday brunch on 8/3 for 1:30, knowing they close at 2:30. We were told when we got there that they were closing up early at 2:00, so to keep that in mind if we wanted to go ahead and stay as we'd have to get in our order right away. Once again, a simple phone call alerting us would've been the best way to handle the situation when the restaurant is clearly in a bind. These are just two recent examples of when they've had staffing issues or other problems. The food is good and consistent, and our server on 8/3 was good but the host/hostess could do a better job at giving customers with reservations a phone call before they leave their home to come dine there when they know they're having issues.
Excellent atmosphere, excellent jazz, delicious food, attentive waiter.
The jazz group playing on our last visit one year ago was far superior to the group playing this time. I am really into live jazz so that disappointed me. Perhaps I ordered the wrong choice of food since we are currently trying to make healthier choices. My entrée(hanger steak without the sauce) and sides were boring. My husband loved his salmon. Hope to return. Love KC
Very good restaurant in the iconic KC building..The Fitzgerald. Our waiter Barbie was a top flight professional waiter even giving us the history of the building dating back to the last century. The food was very good with the only blemish the steaks which we ordered medium rare and came out very rare. That was remedied immediately to our satisfaction. The highlight was an amazing 2013 Mondavi Reserve 50th anniversary cabernet. This wine was priced very reasonably and worth every cent. Overall a very good experience.
