The Main Pub Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We loved the feel of this place. It’s warm and welcoming. If you want hearty fare this is the place to come. Excellent meals. The shepherd’s pie was absolutely delicious (no need to add salt or pepper) as was the beef brisket. Highly recommend this place. We would definitely return next time we are in the area. Parking is plenty at the back of the restaurant.
Never been. Food was solid pub fare. Very good. Service a little weird. Told we couldn’t get a fresh glass for water refill (which I don’t really care about but waitress grabbed mine and not her persons water glass-identical, filled them at a station out of sight then brought them back. Not sure how to tell them apart so took her word on it but still who knows). Reason for no new glass-out of clean ones. My son works commercial food service. Takes 80 seconds to run a commercial dishwasher. And it’s a bar-no clean glasses. Wasn’t even that crowded. Sounds like it’s time to hit the warehouse. Also tried to take used forks off of the dirty app plates and put them back on the table but there were multiple forks-who knows who’s is who’s? The waitress herself was very pleasant. Just weird servingware behavior. Nice gas firepit outside. $200 for 8 with a table full of apps then main course for everyone. Including 3 or 4 beers which seem pretty reasonable. That’s including tip. Place inside is Old brown pub décoré. Works for me. And we asked for a table that could see the tv (Yankees vs Astros) which they accommodated. Tableware stuff aside I would absolutely go back again. Feels like a happy place
The Main Pub is an excellent choice if you are looking for a restaurant with great food choices, outside seating and on Monday nights it is 1/2 price bottle of wine starting at 6 PM. The staff is professional, available and very pleasant. Our server was great. Her name was Allison.
We had a very nice well paced meal. On a very busy night, Ayla did a great job in walking us through the menu and then paced our meal well, as we never felt rushed. The kitchen here puts outs consistently great food. This place isn't right around the corner for us but it is ALWAYS worth the trip. Can't wait for our next trip, thanks for a great meal.
There are three sections: you have the bar area where the feature nightly music or open mike; you have the inside dining area, half of which is in a glassed (ceiling and walls), and you have the patio. Where to sit, is a matter of taste or purpose - the food is the same in all area.
We had a great meal with exceptional service. If you haven't been here before don't let cozy of this place distract you. The kitchen puts out some great meals whether you are going casual or full meal. I can't tell you how many times we have seen chicken wings being delivered to a table and saying to each other that when we are more hungry we have to try those. Well Saturday was that night. We ordered the hot wings they have both a dry rub and then a wet sauce. They are good size wings that were loaded with flavor. It was a great start. When we told our server how much we enjoyed them she said if we liked those we should try their bourbon BBQ glaze wings. She indicated they were even better. Next time for sure.
We both went with burgers. My wife went with the pub burger and added bacon, while I went with the mushroom and Swiss burger with peppercorn dressing served on it. We both asked for pub fries and our burgers medium rare. The full flavor of these burgers was great. We really enjoyed the char broiled smoky taste. Once again really worth the 35-40 minute drive. Already looking forward to our next visit.
We had a couple of sandwiches for dinner. I had the fried cod sandwich and my wife had the French Dip. Both were very good and both we a very good portion. The sandwiches came with what I would term house made chips. They could have been a little more cooked (we like our fries crispy).
We were somewhat late, but Tuesday evening was no problem getting a table. Great live band! Three different types of wings were ordered, all good! The drunken mussels "small plate" was actually huge! The potato salad side was tasty, but should be served much colder. The cheeseburger with bacon was big and sweet potato fries were crisp and flavorful. The service time was a bit slow. (Perhaps they don't add many staff members on a Tuesday evening.) However, our waitress was friendly and attentive to our needs.
The waitress came to get our order and didn't realize she hadn't brought our drinks yet. The waitress never came back to see how the meal was or to refill our water. When we did get her attention to get another few drinks she took ridiculously long to bring them. The only other time she came back to our table (of five) was to bring our check. Guess she decided we didn't want (Irish) coffees or desserts.
Don't know why on a chilly night they would not have the fire place or fire pits on.
Food was good even though the jambalaya was really TOOO spicy but the service was terrible.
That was the reason we hadn't gone back there in years and won't go back again.
We all orders the sausage soup and it was very good, next time I will try the French onion. We all decided to order appetizers and share them, we had the meatloaf, pork and hamburger sliders and they all were good and we would reorder them again, but we really likes the meatloaf sliders. We also had the pub chips and they were crispy, just like they should be.
Enjoy this local pub and was excited to see it on open table which enables me to earn points. But to my dismay, they failed to honor my open table reservation. I earned 000 points when i should have earned 100. This was the entire reason I made the reservation. Will have to check with manager as maybe they are not trained!
A nice early dinner. We both went lite and had sandwiches. Grilled chicken on focosia bread that was very moist and cooked to perfection. Asked for the fries to be well done as we have had some soggy ones in the past, these tonight were great. The other sandwich was a French dip also with well done fries. Might have been the best sandwich I have ever had. Only complaint is that when using open table they don't check you in right when you arrive and it always takes a few days to have my account credited. Other than that I love this place, thanks
Was passing through on my way to New York found the main Pub via the OpenTable app. Ambiance very cozy. We sat in the porch area so we were surrounded by glass and Light. Portions are generous. I had the Angus burger with cheese and bacon on lettuce with sweet potato fries. The fries or crunchy and good and the burger was delicious. My colleague had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and he absolutely loved it.
We both had steak NY strip & top sirloin both were flavorful and tender. It would be nice if another selection was offered for sides other than broccoli & rice. For a starter we ordered chicken wings nothing to brag about here, they were normal chicken wings. Service was good, we would probably visit again.
My side Caesar salad was very small, but the taste of everything was great. The size of my entree (salmon) was good. It took quite a while to get a waitress, but she was pleasant, and the food came out pretty quickly. Overall not perfect, but I'd go back if I were in the area.
This was supposed to be a nice evening with friends at their local favorite restaurant. I made reservations online but a nice table was never set aside. Instead we were placed in a tight both near the coffee station and bus boy area so traffic was continuos and noisy. The evening proceeded to get worse from there. Service was abominable, slow would be putting it gently, and paid little to no attention to us. We waited an hour for appetizers; the appys were good but small. Our food shortly followed but it was cold. The gravy had started to congeal, potatoes were cold and no longer crispy, and the overall presentation could have been better. We ate quickly so we did not have to sit for another hour waiting for lackluster results. The final insult was being handed two plastic containers for the cold food we wouldn't eat, while the waitress walked away. I had high hopes for this local eatery but the only thing I can recommend this place for is appetizers and drinks. If you are looking for dinner, look elsewhere.
We went to the Main Pub for dinner and as I had been there before some years back I remembered that the food was quite good and the atmosphere fun.
My memory served me well, we had an excellent time and the food was excellent!
Nancy had the fish and chips which were very good, fresh cod fillet in a light flavorful batter with chips that were crunchy and delightful. I opted for the fish tacos made with fresh tilapia which were sublime. Delicate with a multitude of flavors from the fish and toppings. Highly recommended!
Also, the cocktails were very good, well mixed and interesting.
All in all, a great value and fun time when in Manchester.
Busy Friday. We were seated in the "sun room" which we have enjoyed in the past. We both went with sandwiches. A Reuben and a roast beef dip. Both were OUTSTANDING, both served with a side. My wife went with the sweet potatoe fries and I had the pub fries asked for them extra crispy and that's how they came to the table and I enjoyed every last one of them. We have been here about ten times in the past year and have enjoyed every visit. Sabrina had a good handle on the specials and made a few suggestions. Beginning to find ourselves here more and more often. Another great experience in the books!
Very good meal on a quiet week night. Our server, Heidi was very pleasant and paced our meal well. A dinner salad with blackened chicken, pears and walnuts was great, as was the grilled chicken sandwich on fuchsia bread. This kitchen puts out some very good stuff. We live over a half hour away but are finding ourselves here more and more because of the staff and the kitchen. Also can't wait for the outside area to be completed. It looks like it's going to be a great addition.
