Fantastic, as always. Sadly, won't be around much longer. :(
One of my favorites in South Boston, amazing food and service!
Cute bar different from most other southie bars! We got the hush puppies because of so many reviews online and they were not good! For dinner I got the souvlaki chicken and enjoyed it! We did have great waiter staff who even gave us complimentary chips and salsa because one of the dishes we wanted to try was sold out! Drinks were good too! I'd come back for a drink at the bar
Had a great first visit to the Maiden. Loved the $6 house wine options. Chicken Souvlaki was delicious. Excellent service! I dropped my napkin on the floor, and before I could pick it up, a new one was magically delivered by one of the staff. My water glass was constantly replenished, which is a big plus for me (I hate to run out of water!). Great music over the speakers, too. Will definitely return.
Trivia night was an awful part of the evening.
Great food. Great Service. Excellent Value. Love the hush puppies. One of the best burgers in Boston.
We keep coming back for more. This establishment understands hospitality, and continues to deliver excellent food and service since it opened. That's commitment.
Favorite Southie restaurant. Food is amazing, service is amazing and love $6 always changing always tasty house wine!
We absolutely loved this place! the food was amazing, the service was exceptional, it was a wonderful culinary experience. The plates are big and so flavorful and beautifully presented. Can't wait to be back! For more details visit our post about The Maiden in our foodies account @munchinboston on instagram!
This place is an absolute GEM. Been passing by it for a few years now and finally made it in there. Might be my favorite/go to spot in Southie now. Food and Preparation was spectacular. The waiter (Tommy) was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, friendly and spot on with all of his recommendations. If you've never been, get off the main path of Lincoln, Loco etc. and make the trek (.5 mile) down to Maiden.
What a great spot! We booked dinner here as it was close to Logan and I had come in from a late flight. What a pleasant surprise. The food and service were outstanding! We started with the roasted brussel sprouts and the carrot appetizer dishes. They were both incredible and I'd highly recommend the carrots.
We tried the duck and the pork tenderloin as our main courses. The duck was incredibly flavorful and had great texture variations. The pork was perfectly cooked and also very good but the duck stole the show on the main courses.
Wine is reasonably priced and they have a good selection. Overall for the two of us the meal was a good value for the excellent quality and creativity. Probably the only negative was there was a very loud crowd at the bar and sometimes we couldn't hear each other over them as we were at a high top right next to the bar. Also, the food doesn't come out very quickly so you need to pace yourself throughout the meal. That said, our water glasses were always full as the staff made sure to pay attention to us throughout the night.
I would highly recommend The Maiden for dinner. Also, Tommy is a fantastic server and the staff in general is great. This made our experience all that much more memorable. We will be back!
Great meal, great service, reasonable prices. Looking forward to going back.
Very sad to see this restaurant close. It was one of my favorite all round restaurants.
Went for a valentines dinner for the first time in a long time and it was amazing! All of the food was delicious, staff was great and helpful and love the vibe of the restaurant. New favorite.
Another perfect night! My boyfriend and I are regulars at this point, and we kind of treat it like our neighborhood joint, even though we’re right in Boston and have to trek out to Southie for The Maiden. It’s always worth it. The food, atmosphere, and beverage program are all great, and they change it up enough that it’s never boring. You can tell a lot of thought and care goes into it. Speaking of care, the hospitality is beyond wonderful. The staff have been working together for a long time, and they have a good thing going on. We adore them. Also, the owners are always wonderful, and their staff have been with them since before The Maiden. That says a lot, and when I think about spending money going out, it’s nice to be able to support a local small business run by good people than a huge corporation or one of many notorious bad actors in the industry who don’t treat people right.
Excellent food . The beer options are limited but the cocktail scene is strong!
Delicious, unique food with a cool atmosphere. My group had a great time.
Everything was great. We got there early enough for 1/2 price oysters which were yummy. They have a wine tasting special on Wednesday. Great wine tried with 2 hours breathing and fresh poured. Both were good but different. Interesting. We both had lamb burgers for dinner. My first time and I loved it. I do low carbs so had mine with salad and friend had hers with english muffin and french fries. They looked delicious! Delightful evening.
One of the best meals from service to food I had in 2017.
Great places, it is our go to places for guests or just a casual dinner out. Interesting food with a menu that changes regularly
The oysters and hush puppies were enjoyed by all and the gnocchi was fantastic. Our friends raved about the duck.
The chief is a food genius, so creative, yet so comforting. I’ve never had anything less than delicious. The staff are so warm and welcoming.
Our waiter was exceptional! Everything he suggested, based on our taste and mood, was perfect. Can’t wait to go back!
As usual the Parsons do a nice job. Food was excellent value.
Reservation at 5:30pm for 6 on a Saturday was easy to get and waitstaff and host were very patient with our two, rambunctious toddlers. Mushroom panini is excellent. Burger was average. Hush puppies alone are worth going back for. Their beer and wine selection are great, and overall the prices are worth the quality. We'll be back!
Wonderful oyster selection. Innovative way to present wine list that got me to try something out of the norm. Service is perfect balance between efficient and friendly. Just go and have a fun evening with lots of great food.
We had such a lovely evening at The Maiden! My parents were visiting Boston for my mom’s birthday weekend and they couldn’t say enough great things about it. I unfortunately can’t remember our server’s name, but he was extremely friendly, cheerful, and attentive and had great suggestions without ever coming across as overbearing. We split the lobster gnocchi, hush puppies, a cheese board, the arancini, and a cauliflower dish that was a special for the night, and everything was honestly delicious. Loved it! Would come back for sure.
I was very happy with the charcuterie board and the rose we started the meal with. The ambience is modern and the noise level is moderate which allowed us to have a conversation with speaking in a louder tone. The main meal was ok. I would say overall my experience was ok but not memorable.
We ate at The Maiden on our honeymoon and it was fantastic! Jon was great and paired our whole meal. We told him what we liked and asked him to serve us what he felt was on point... And it was! Great job Jon! Dessert's we're awesome! Seared pear was top notch and the ice cream sandwiches were awesome!!
The best cheese boards around!!
The pork dish was outstanding! I’m not sure why this place was so empty on a Saturday night- the food far exceeded our expectations
I love Tommy, Rob, John...the whole crew...so nice.
The food is unmatched in Southie.
Service as it should be...pleasant, fun, and professional.
I love it!
food was amazing with great service. Many good options to choose esp with cheese options, and main meal
Excellent food, the best imaginable hospitality, great staff, a well-curated wine and beer list, and seasonal menus that offer good variety, and decor that's funky but not overwhelming. Also, the best bathrooms ever (don't ask, just see for yourself). Ladies, sneak into the men's room.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
They make us feel like we're at home every time. The food was GREAT. Love The Maiden!
Love this place and the service is always impeccable!!
Went for dinner on a Sunday night about 7:00pm. It wasn't crowded at all, maybe three tables occupied. The downside was that our waitress was totally inept and almost seemed like she was high or extremely distracted. She brought us some other tables order, they were seated after us, and had no idea what was happening. In response she pointed to the kitchen and said "It's mass chaos back there". I found this interesting since only three tables were occupied. She never exchanged basic pleasantries, never smiled, etc. On the plus side, the food, once we got it, was quite good. In particular, the warm panzanella salad with fresh baked corn bread and smoked clams and pancetta was awesome. We also liked the chicken liver mousse and the pecorino cheese board. Here's my advice though; if you want larger portions of more basic but great food with great service, consider going right next door to Worden. If you want higher end small plates with a gourmet feel, in a more intimate setting go to The Maiden.
Looking forward to our next visit. Everything from food, cocktails and service was impeccable.
