Food was excellent. Service had some very small issues. Over all this was a delightful experience. Would gladly recommend to anyone.
Birthday dinner with family
Noise a little loud but tolerable
I have been to Magnolia Thomas many times. But this was definitely my last time. I and my date made a dinner reservation at 6:45 pm. We were there on time. But nobody seated us till 7:05 pm. The place was pact. Once we were finally seated, we placed our order (7:20 pm). Time passed, after 1 hour and 20 minutes, there was no sign of food. Finally, someone showed up and apologized. He said they overdid our steak and had to prepare a new one. We had to leave as we had another appointment at 9:00 pm. So we asked for the check without eating anything. You think they would not charge you because they did not provide service. You are wrong! They brought the bill at full price at 8:55 pm. They also brought our food boxed with the check. I was very embarrassed in front of my date. So did not say anything, paid the bill and left. But I will never go there again. They just lost a good customer for ever.
My wife and I have been going to Magnolia Thomas now for the past few years for special occasions like Valentine's Day, Anniversary, and Birthday's and it is always well worth the money. From the professionalism of the wait staff to the magnificent food prepared by the chef and the quiet ambience by candlelight, this place is certainly a neighborhood gem and we will certainly keep our tradition alive here at the Magnolia Thomas Restaurant.
LOVE THIS Place! Food is some of the best we've had. Very creative dishes, appetizers. I had the blackened scallops with asparagus risotto, my husband had the Magnolias Fried Chicken. Nice size portions, great value, great service, great atmosphere. Recommend over and over. We had our wedding and reception here as well. Great comments from guests on the food.
Our reservation was for the Valentine's Holiday and the seating scheduled for 8:15 pm. We did not wait more than 5 minutes after arriving before seated. The waitress attended us within a few minutes and was never overbearing throughout the entire meal. On this special occasion, the restaurant offered a set menu with very nice choices. Our meal was a 5 course and the portions very adequate. Started with TWO appetizers - we choose a cheese plate and the crab cakes. Both delicious. The crab cakes could have passed as an entree. Soup, salad, entree and TWO desserts to complete the full meal deal. Needless to say, we were stuffed and still brought home a portion of the entree for lunch the next day.
The restaurant had a musician playing a classical guitar for almost the entire time we were there - close to 2 hours. Very enjoyable - even with all the guests in the multiple rooms adjacent to where we sat, the atmosphere was not too loud at all.
We must have been one of the last couples to get seated as we were one of only a few patrons left in the restaurant towards the end of the wonderful meal. Kind of nice. It really showed when we went to leave and were only a few cars left in what was a crowded parking lot when we arrived.
I've visited the restaurant a number of times and have enjoyed the same positive experience each time. The food is always incredible. It's an hour drive from where I live but definitely worth it. They offer a Sunday brunch which I understand is quite popular and draws a good crowd. Might just have to do that one of these days.
Good night with my lady. Thanks guys
Wonderful evening with a fabulous Valentine’s Day menu!!! We highly recommend this restaurant, and look forward to going back!
This has become one of our favorite special occasion places to go. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. Just a wonderful dining experience.
We had a wonderful time! Great food, service and ambiance!
A very average meal with pretty slow service. I was hoping for more.
Love the place!! Great Brunch Buffet!! We bring our family here all the time.
Good food and service
Our overall experience was very nice. Our server knew the menu and was able to make suggestions. Would definitely eat there again.
The food was fabulous, the waiter was helpful and very knowledgeable about the dishes, and the service time was perfect. We will definitely be dining here again.
Found this place thru groupon. Close to the house and the ambiance, food, and service was awesome. Not expensive and great portions.
After all the great reviews we were very disappointed. The service was very slow, the food was good but cold, my wife had salmon that was so small it was not even a portion for a child.
Food was excellent!
This restaurant is always good.
Worth the drive.
Only thing we were disappointed with was that there was not a full bar service available.
Can not go wrong here. We started with the fried green tomatoes- excellent and had salmon and pork as entrees that were also very good. Presentation was very nice. This place is a great alternative to most of the other alternatives in Woodstock. Nice place but not pretentious.
Our family received a gift card to dine here for Christmas. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. We had the baked Brie appetizer...amazing! My only disappointment was trying to get a second glass of wine. I had to remind our server that a second glass had not been brought.....my husband never got his. In regards to the food, I will definitely return!
Very nice restaurant with something of a throw-back ambience like a genteel Southern restaurant from another time. Service was very attentive from Nathan. Went on a Sunday evening so it was quiet. Nice beer and wine menu. Food menu had many items that looked good but we only ordered the fried, stuffed artichoke for an appetizer, the fried chicken breast for entree (recommended by Nathan), and the flour-less chocolate cake. There were three BIG fried stuffed artichokes on the appetizer (looked like a panko batter). It was a little too much for the two of us and a bit too salty. We each ordered the fried (panko again) chicken with black-eyed peas salsa and grits. Holy cow -- they were huge! We called them Dolly Parton breasts. Anyway, we could have ordered one, split it and still have leftovers to take home. It was good, but a lot of food -- Nathan said our plates were the biggest he had seen so maybe the chef just felt generous that night. The flour-less chocolate cake was very chocolately and nicely complemented with whipped cream and two berries on the side. If I were in the Woodstock area again, I would certainly consider going back but I live in another part of town.
always a treat .. had not been back in several years. just a great place... probably the most conducive is 'uncrowded' seating. tables are spaced to allow intimacy and easy conversation, unbothered by who is at next table.
# 2 - the menu is inspiring - tough to make a choice. always interesting and unique cuisine. a joy and refreshing.
We went to magnolia Thomas House for Sunday Brunch which was a buffet. I am not a fan of buffets but the food was good. Not a large selection. The fried chicken was delicious. The pricing was a great value. Service was a bit slow. especially for drink refills. One complaint was square coffee cups that were very odd to drink out of.
Our dinners there have always been great! The food, the service, and the cozy, quaint atmosphere is wonderful. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. They have a great guitar player that plays softly in the background too. ..My favorite thing there is the tomato basil soup and the oil/honey combo for dipping their SOFT, WARM rolls - and that is important to me! Plus, you can use Groupon which makes the meal affordable.
We were greeted right away as we enter. There was a wonderful gentleman playing the classical guitar. This enhanced the setting to be peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely go back.
Superb service with delicious food! The ambiance is very cozy and romantic in the evening. We will certainly be back to check out the Sunday brunch.
Great experience! Wonderful food!
