Our server was fantastic and knew the food & drink menus, and wine list inside and out and made excellent recommendations and pairing suggestions. Our meal from appetizer to dessert was outstanding. All four of us were pleased with our selections and impressed with the creativity and flavorful details of each one of our dishes. McIntosh consistently delivers the best in food, service and atmosphere. Our favorite spot to sit is the high top table up front with a birds eye view of the action on King Street. I highly recommend McIntosh for an evening out in Charleston.

We went during restaurant week as a special occasion date. Our reservation was for 5:15 pm and the place was empty. The tables are mostly for two or four and very close together. Lots of wood, a dark, cozy environment. Our server was awesome--the best part of the evening. He recommended drinks, thoroughly explained the menu, and was attentive but not overly present. The appetizers were great--a beef pasta dish and my wife had scallops. The main dish (my wife and I both ordered the veal) was good, but not amazing. Our sides (mashed potatoes and Bread Pudding) were good, but not great. By the time we were finished we were full and didn't order dessert. Also, there were no open tables. With couples on either side of us we felt a little cramped and it was a little loud. For the amount of food in an upscale setting the value was about what we expected.
Summary: A positive experience with a fantastic server. I would go back for a special occasion, but wouldn't order the veal again.

Affirmation what it's one of the best brunch locations in the city. Every bite, every dish, every cocktail just excellent. Really, great food & great service. First time we've ever sat in the back / outside area - how pretty!

First time at The Macintosh and wish we had dined there much sooner. Food was great; service was outstanding; and ambience was fun with a lot of energy. We’ve been to quite a few restaurants in Charleston and this is one of the best.

The food was good, in fact, the pistachio ice cream sandwich was sublime. However, our experience was only so-so. It was post holiday time, so very crowded, but I get the impression they're always crowded. Even with a reservation we had to wait 10-15 minutes before we were seated, and the bar area was full so we stood at the front. Once seated, we waited a long time for our food. Between the noise level and the slow service - we didn't enjoy dining at Macintosh as much as we had hoped.

We were visiting Charleston from out of town and made a reservation based on reviews - the reviews are accurate! The food was delicious!

Our server, Mary Catherine, was phenomenal. She was so friendly and talked through each option with us. If you want to talk food and have a great experience, sit in her section!

This is our second time to Mackintosh, the first time for dinner since as the last was for brunch.
There were 3 of us in the party. My friend and I shared a salad and the waiter knew this but had us split it at the table ourselves rather then have the kitchen staff due it which we felt was tacky.
My husband order the burger which he said was average. The plate was covered in french fries and I mean covered. Overload for sure.
My duck was good but room temperature and my friends fish was average.
The best part of the meal was the bread and the french press coffee!
We will not be going again.

We were doing a staycation and decided on the McIntosh. The waiter was incredibly detailed and Knowledgeable but spoke way too fast. I had a special which was truffles, herb pasta, mascarpone & shaved beet. The flavor was out of this world! It was such a small portion it left me wanting more and I have a small appetite. My husband got the MAC burger which was awesome! we also tried the bone marrow bread pudding which tasted like a grilled cheese sandwich. For dessert I had the ice cream sandwich: sugar cookie with sea salt on the outside and avocado ice cream on the inside. The ice cream was good, but the cookie was so salty I could not eat it, very disappointing. My husband had pecan pie, it was OK. We did meet a very nice family that loves this restaurant and they all four had the MAC burger which is what I will get next time.

We ate a Macintosh while visiting Charleston. The food was excellent. I had the "Deckle" which they describe as the heart of on eye roast. It was excellent. The menu is not large but everything was done well and the waiter was very attentive and personable. It was a bit noisy when the bar was crowded, but acceptable when that crowd thinned out.

I had high expectations for the Macintosh but they just fell short. First, we arrived about 10 minutes early for our Sunday brunch reservation. There were several open tables however the hostess waited until our exact reservation time to seat us. We weren't bothered by the wait, but rather the lack of a waiting/seating area. She told us we could get a drink at the bar, but the bar rail was full as were the surrounding standing areas. We chose to just wait at the hostess stand awkwardly. Once seated, our server greeted us. He was very quiet and we could hardly hear him. He was moderately attentive, but lacked much personality. The girls refilling our waters were much more charming even as they hovered like vultures waiting to refill our glasses after each sip. I'm sure they were just trying to stay busy on a slow morning so we laughed it off. Perhaps though, the establishment could lower prices a tad and schedule lighter on the support staff. And not to be petty, but we all hated the leather apron uniforms. They felt a bit Sweeny Todd-esque--like we were about to be chopped up and made into meat pies. We all agreed our bar drinks were excellent--refreshing and crafted with unique flavor combinations. Our food was above average and the portions were appropriate for breakfast/brunch. Overall, the Macintosh wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as what we'd expected. We probably would not return again for brunch but we'd definitely come back drinks on a Friday or Saturday night.

The Mac burger was the best ever and the fries were perfect. The scallops were great and the rabbit ricotta gnudi was phenomenal. The peanut butter cup was spectacular with peanut praline on the bottom and peanut ice cream. The witch doctor cocktail was yummy and the toast and marshmallow was even better. The complementary everything bread was delicious. The servers and bartenders were all very nice and attentive. A perfect meal from beginning to end.

Started with the quail meatballs. The rice grits and broth are to die for. Would have preferred a different choice for the meatball, perhaps wild board or venison, but eagerly ate it all. Almost didn't have room for the deckle, but glad I ordered it. Very tender and flavorful.

We learned of the Macintosh while visiting it during the Charleston Chefs' Kitchen Tour. This was an excellent tour and during it, we met Macintosh’s Chef de Cuisine Jacob Huder, who spent a lot of time with us talking about all aspects of the Macintosh’s operations. My Wife and I are big time foodies and we loved Chef Huder’s passion for the food and his restaurant operations. The conversation covered all types of things from the menu selections, local ingredients, the special cast iron pans to the communication process amongst the kitchen staff. We liked him so much that we brought a group of friends back with us for Sunday brunch.

We absolutely loved the brunch food and the service, which were right in line with the excellent high bar standards that Chef Huder sets. During brunch, despite being very busy, Chef Huder came out twice to visit with us. From start to finish at the Macintosh, we were treated very well. Again, we credit Chef Huder for this as all of the employees had his same passion for the food and for providing a 5-star customer experience. From the bloody mary’s to the poutine fries to the bone marrow bread to the Duke to the Huevos Rancheros, we enjoyed everything but most of all, we were particularly impressed with how Chef Huder’s passion carried through to the food and the restaurant operations. Y’all need to check this place out while in Charleston – it is unique and excellent!
