The Macintosh opened in September 2011 in downtown Charleston, SC. Located downstairs from its sister lounge, the Cocktail Club, and bearing the one-time name of the alley that runs alongside the building, the Macintosh explores the breadth of Lowcountry flavors in a comfortable setting. Executive Chef and partner Jeremiah Bacon showcases his talent for creating upscale, American cooking using the seasonal bounty provided by his local farmers and fishermen throughout The Macintosh's menu.

Food is amazing. Burger is best around. And the green salad was so fresh and simple and perfect. The ribeye (which has some fancy name I can’t remember) was really special. I would definitely go back. Really great food

Based on previewing menu online ahead of time, looked very interesting. However, Mac-hattan was totally without the character (how is that possible if using Antica and Aperol and chocolate bitters?). Strawberry salad was almost all strawberries and ham was omitted (thanks to waitress for noticing). Main courses tasted OK, but we were not encouraged to order separate sides nor specifically told that the accompanying components to the meat/fish were merely flavoring garnishes. Would bet bread that was served came direct from supermarket. Don't really understand the 4.5 stars this place has on Open Table. Given the above, we would have been a bit happier if prices weren't as high as they were.

Slow start as we waited about 15 min for our table but, wow, did they rally! Foodies doing food. Outstanding! We will most definitely return.

Good offering was very over priced for the portion and quality served. We are local and have enjoyed better food at almost half the price. I’m not going back

Upside: Great menu and very good food. Downside: We waited over 20 minutes past our reservation time, and service (though friendly) was less than attentive, even when the restaurant was half empty. Perhaps it was just this one time - I'd go back based on the food and atmosphere, for sure.

Everything was incredible. We arrived early & were seated immediately. The manager took our wine order quickly and had a great recommendation. Our server was attentive and helpful. Everything we ordered was spot on. Scallops were divine. Ricotta on toast was a great starter. The pasta was perfectly seasoned. The swordfish was charred lightly and again, cooked perfectly. Thank you chef! We will be back!

The food was only okay at best- both our dishes were very salty. He recommended I try the steak as it was their signature dish. It was just - meh. I’ve had better or the equivalent anywhere else.

Our second visit - wonderful, delicious food. Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Our only "complaint" was that we were under the impression that the truffle fries were a complimentary gift from the chef - but we were charged for them. We will definitely go back.

Despite all the great reviews, it still managed to surpass my expectations. Love the seasonal soft shell crab. The neighboring table raved about the tilefish.

This place never fails. They are so intelligent with their food. Service was great and assistant restaurant manager Merideth was completely on her game.

She saw where the need was, filled it with class and a smile. Excellent excellent excellent!!!

Another fantastic experience tonight at The MacIntosh. I just doesn’t get any better than this... both the food and the service. Soft-shell crab on the menu was the cherry on top!

Nice people...great service and they really took an interest in us...asked what we liked to eat and recommended items. My wife and I split the bone-in strip steak, served with greens and mashed potatoes. Possibly the best strip steak I have ever had. They treated us to dessert to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Wish you would open a restaurant in Greenville or Travelers Rest, SC! Thanks!

We went for Sunday brunch. The chicken from the chicken and waffles was so heavily breaded, it needed to be scraped off. The steak from steak and eggs was fatty and not chewable. The waiter was one of the best I have ever had.

Really enjoyed our dinner here.
Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent serve staff, the maitre d’ was charming and the 32 ounce porterhouse - fabulous.
Mustn’t forget the mashed potatoes - almost worth the hardening of the arteries you’ll get for over indulging!

We are tourist and looking forward to eating at one of Charleston’s new places. It was fantastic. Lively crowd. Great service. Nice wine list. But saving the best for last, the food was outstanding. Would definitely be a regular if I lived here.

My colleague and l make a point of eating at the Mac when we are in Charleston. I love the burger with truffle fries . She had the quail and said it was delish. She got the ice cream sandwich of the day which was a riff on a s’more. I had the coconut ice cream. They make the ice cream in house and it’s always been worth the splurge . We each had a glass of wine with our meal and a coffee after dessert. It came out to around $50 each. Quite reasonable got the quality of the food. Lovely wait staff are attentive but not intrusive.

Girlfriend and I ate there Sunday the 4th and it was one of the best restaurant experiences of our lives. The service, the food, the atmosphere all worked perfectly. Our server Max and Chef Harley went over the top and exceeded our expectations. Will be back every chance we get!

Terrific find here. Max our server was excellent and attended to us both professionally and friendly. The whole fish that evening served on a full bed of collard greens and ham hocks was off the charts. It fed two growing men!

For the appetizers, we had the leek appetizer that made us appreciate leeks even more. The special asparagus appetizer was tasty along with the sweetbreads. The bone marrow bread pudding is a given.

All around....terrific dining experience. I wish the chef was available for a quick chat. There is a lot of interesting creative cuisine going on here.

The bar scene looks tempting next time too!

Was unsure about choosing this restaurant when looking at the menu online. They were busy and the manager Meredith stepped into help...she was really friendly, knowledgeable and helped guide us through the menu. She steered us in the right direction and we had one of the most amazing meals here. The food is creative and reasonably priced for the quality. There are a lot of high end restaurants in Charleston, and you should definitely make sure you check our The Macintosh!

The food was delicious but the kitchen and the server staff were having issues. Food took a long time to come out and our server forgot to pick up our second cocktail order from the bar. The bartender and I made eye contact several times and I nearly got up to get the drinks myself! The scallops are amazing—crispy on top and cooked to a silky perfection.

My wife and I absolutely loved this place. We had a wonderful server who was very helpful in getting us to pick the best things on the menu. Everything she recommended was amazing and some of it we wouldn't have ordered otherwise. The food itself is among the best I've ever had, ever. You can tell the quality of the initial ingredients is superb and you can tell the chef's skill matches this quality. The chef even came to our table to see how everything was going and chat for a minute. Will absolutely be going back when in Charleston again.

We had such a wonderful meal at The Macintosh. The food was creative and delicious- I never thought leeks could taste so good! Our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had with interesting details. We went for my birthday and thought the custom printed menu with “Happy Birthday” on it was a really nice touch, as was the very delicious rocky road ice cream cookie with a candle they brought out.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and absolutely loved our dinner! Chef does some truly amazing things with bone marrow, like seriously inventive and delicious. Can't say enough good things about the sweet breads, duck and steak. Thoroughly enjoyed each moment of our meal. Our server was well informed about the menu and decently prompt, had an awkward table presence but we enjoyed his service!

Had brunch with visiting friends. Loved the vibe of the restaurant, but it was noisy and we were glad to be in a corner at the front of the main room. Have to say the truffle fries are ridiculous! Order them. Food was very good - but there are a lot of places in CHS that are very good. Have to admit that we went because I couldn't get a reservation at Luke's. But glad we tried it.
