My boyfriend and I ate at The Macintosh while on vacation in Charleston. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and the atmosphere was nice. The only complaint my boyfriend (who is a picky eater) had was it was too dimly lit to really see well.
We had the deckle and for gnudi, which was both amazing. The serving size is smaller than what we expected but it was enough to get you full.
We will definitely go back the next time we’re back in town.

The food was good but ridiculously small portions for the price. Hence I really can’t recommend it.

Very good place. Food is excellent and the service is very good. The bartender was a little unfriendly and seems to enjoy drama, but she was an expection to a good experience.

Local ingredients and creative menu that has both entrees and small plates. Very nice atmosphere right on King Street in the heart of lots of shopping, bars, and restaurants. Servers are very friendly and the food comes quick. By the time we were done the place was seemingly converting into what seemed like a popular night spot. Highly recommend for just about any occasion.

we are regulars and for some reason this sundays brunch was just not up to the standards that we have become accustomed to. we did notice new shift managers and believe this could be it. we will give it a little time and see if it works itself out.

The food exceeded our expectations! All of the dishes were incredible. Don’t miss the Mac potatoes! Our server Laura was so great. She was attentive, kind, and fun to converse with. This place is such a gem!

Amazing! Food was delicious. The portions were small but we every bite was tasty. If they have the duck and octopus on the menu, I highly recommend you try that.

Just incredible experience and the service was outstanding. Our server, Mary Catherine, was just fantastic. Friendly and knowledgeable, she guided us through the menu by asking what our likes and dislikes were. My wife is lactose intolerant and Mary Catherine had ideas, alternatives that would work and was there to answer any questions. We dine out frequently and I can't remember a time when we enjoyed service, food and fun this much. Truly a memorable birthday for my wife

I have been to Macintosh several time in the past. We had not been back in 4 years, and as we were vacationing in Charleston, we could not miss it. Went to a 5 PM early dinner. Place is beautiful. Service is impeccable. Cocktails were great, wine list was kind of expensive, but we knew Macintosh is on the more expensive side. We had 3 appetizers (rudderfish, scallops and octopus). Octopus and the scallops were OK, the vegetable in the both dishes were spectacular, the protein OK. The rudderfish was impressive.
The worst (in our opinion) was the main course. It was a whole red snapper ( if I am not mistaken, or similar), whole fish fried, then kept in the oven. The fish was served over collard greens. I think the dish was the result of people watching too much of Chef's table and trying to come out with all kinds of abnormal recipe. Why fry the fish and then destroy all the crispness with watery collard greens? Why add bacon to fried fish? Why not salt the fish prior to frying it? Why not stew it? They basically destroyed a spectacular fish.
We did not even want to try their desserts. I hope this review will help their chef. Amazing but simple rather than complicated but poor.

After many visits to Macintosh, taking many visitors to Charleston there and recommending on Trip Advisor over and over, at this point in time I can't honestly recommend Macintosh if you are going to spend that kind of money. It's as if they are cutting corners and nickel and dimeing you to death...charge for bread and it's burned, I'm sorry. Grains, pasta and potatoes have been cut from the meals, but you can buy them on the side, I don't think so. Server who talks too much, ugh. Unless something drastically changes, this local won't be back any time soon.

First time at Macintosh and we will definitely be back. Overall just a great dining experience from the service to the delicious food! I loved the casual atmosphere too- no white tablecloths and the dress code is smart casual with men wearing shorts in the summer. Not overpriced either.

The food was good, but interesting portions. We had our own 2 person table with a long booth on one side and it felt like the tables on either side of us could hear our conversation as we could hear their's because the tables were so close together.

This is always one of our very favorite Charleston restaurants. The services has always been outstanding and the food is so delicious. The cocktails and wine list are also top notch. On this particular occasion, I had let them know that it was my husband's birthday and that he was in love with the bone marrow bread pudding and if they could put a candle in it when we order it, he would think that is great. Instead, they made a dessert out of their bone marrow bread pudding and presented it to him after the meal. He was so surprised and and it might have been the best dessert we have ever had. The Macintosh never disappoints and somehow exceeds expectations every time we go there.

Brought friends from out of town, and they loved it. All dishes thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Wait staff and kitchen were terrific in their response to my friend who is both gluten-free and dairy-free, tweaking the vegetable platter to work for her. Love that they will divide the burger in 4 pieces for sharing. One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston.

On Sunday we brought friends, who had never been to Macintosh before. And they were impressed. So they will be back, and of course we will. We had been at a Piccolo Spoleto event that ended at 2:15 pm, and we were the last people in the restaurant for the 2:30pm reservation. The staff was gracious and accommodating. The brunch menu was excellent with both breakfast and lunch type meals. We were all happy.

Incredible experience from start to finish. We got there right at our reservation time and we’re seated promptly. Our server was very attentive and present throughout the meal... whenever you needed something, he was right there.

The manager came up and greeted us, introduced himself - thanked us for coming...

I come specially for the Mac Attack, but this was the first time we tried the poutine and man it was delicious - get the pork on it too!

Steak and Eggs classic and delicious. Over easy makes it extra tasty!

In and out in around an hour on a Sunday brunch.

Will be back soon!

Other than the bistro seating in a moderately loud restaurant (why are so many places going to this terrible idea?), this is a great spot for a great supper/drinks/good food.

The Duck was to die for and I haven’t seen it on many upscale restaurants in Charleston so I was very pleased to be able to have that. The burger and fries was also delicious (although $18 for a burger is pricy...) the plate came loaded with skinny parmigiana fries. We also had the peanut butter dessert which was very good however very sweet. All in all very good restaurant.
