The Macintosh opened in September 2011 in downtown Charleston, SC. Located downstairs from its sister lounge, the Cocktail Club, and bearing the one-time name of the alley that runs alongside the building, the Macintosh explores the breadth of Lowcountry flavors in a comfortable setting. Executive Chef Stu Rogers and Chef Partner Jeremiah Bacon showcases their talent for creating upscale, American cooking using the seasonal bounty provided by his local farmers and fishermen throughout The Macintosh's menu.

I’ve been before and it was my favorite place in Charleston. This time the service was not great. Took someone 20 minutes to come to our table and the server didn’t know anything about the wine. Instead of sending over someone that did he fumbled and wasn’t helpful. We would have spent more and hung out if it was better. I’ve sent many friends over but will reconsider next time. Training is key with new staff. Food was delicious as always though.

Nice but menu was not innovative. My husband enjoyed the beet omelette, but my egg white frittata was overcooked and not very flavorful. We both enjoyed the french toast. I was expecting fresher ingredients.

Every part of the evening was fantastic! The food was delicious, the timing of the service was impeccable, our server noticed the table wobbled a little and fixed it immediately and then apologized, the whole evening was wonderful. We will be back!

It was disappointing. Besides the service being slow, we did not appreciate spending $5.00 for each order of four small pieces of bread. Our server had thought that one order was going to be enough for us. Having to pay for bread, especially a meager order doesn’t reflect Southern Hospitality. The service was so slow that we couldn’t even order dessert for my brother’s birthday, because we had paid for two hours at a meter. We barely made it back to the car in time. Also the prices for the items did not reflect portion size to warrant the cost. I don’t see any redeeming reason to return to McIntosh. This is a big disappointment, because we used to enjoy going before or after the theater.

They changed the menu and added an egg white frittata. It was not a hit. It was cooked egg whites covered in cheese with some spinach and some green thing on top. It is a confusing set up with egg whites to be healthy and mounds of cheese? The restaurant seems to struggle with non meat eaters. A solution - the restaurant serves burgers. Why not serve veggie or black bean burgers? Not Beyond or Impossible burgers - those are at fast food restaurants and Mac is better than that. Also - don't cook the a vegetarian/vegan option where meat is cooked. That causes all kinds of problems for the vegetarian.

Server was incredibly well versed on food descriptives, staff overall well trained and communicated with each other. Deckle, although pricey, was thoroughly enjoyed and was perfectly complemented by the marrow bread pudding. Hoping to get back soon to try the rarebit which was being savored by the neighboring table -- an appetizer that could've served as a main course. Staff made our anniversary celebration memorable. We continue to enjoy both the food & service levels at MacIntosh. Never disappointed and the ever changing menu with fresh fish dishes always a treat.
Great bar with interesting drinks if that is your scene.

Had Sunday Brunch @ The MacIntosh, my wife order the Truffle Frites, WOW! I had the "Mac Attack,"* Pork Belly, Bone Marrow Bread Pudding, Hollandaise, Poached Egg. This is an odd sounding combo, but Oh my so, so superb! Oh and the Mimosa was also really good!

As always Macintosh did not disappoint. Their brunch is pretty spot on with three great Bloody Mary choices and you can’t go wrong with the Mac Attack. If you are looking for something more filling I’d recommend The Mac burger. You won’t leave hungry that’s for sure. And add the egg. You will not regret it.

We had a great time. We started with wine and found the selection nicely varied. With a party of 4 and varying wine preferences, we started with rose yhat was perfect. For appetizers, we went with the waiter (Ryan ... really fabulous) suggestions and had rarebit and gnudi. Both were unique and great tasting! We then moved to a nice red wine and ordered 4 different and varied dinners ... schnitzel, duck, cobia and a burger along with the bread pudding. They were all perfectly prepared and delicious. We especially enjoyed duck and schnitzel as they aren't typical when dining out for us. Wonderful experience!

A true treasure in the pantheon of Charleston dining spots. Excellent and attentive service by the highly knowledgeable Tessa provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. Vegetable-based dishes of great excitement (asparagus with hackleback caviar; street corn salad) set the tone for the must-have deckle of beef and pork schnitzel. Wines by the glass somewhat limited but of very good quality.

The atmosphere was nice and most of the people we were in contact with were very friendly. We had a late reservation (8:30pm) and they were sold out of a couple of things, one of which is what I had really wanted. The selection is small since their menu changes daily so there wasn’t much to choose from to replace what I had originally wanted. I ended up getting the ribeye with the truffle fries. The fries were fantastic, the ribeye, while cooked correctly, seemed very chewy. Our waitress was absent quite a bit and not very personable. I know restaurants have “off” nights so I may try this place again for an earlier dinner time.
