The Lumber Baron Inn and Gardens

This place is a hidden gem in the local neighborhood it represents. I LOVE Scottish breakfast dishes and their oatmeal pancakes are right on point. Could they publish the recipe for that dish?
We went for my daughters bday, but would be great for a day night. Still wanted to try brunch!
This was our most disgusting restaurant experience ever. We had a confirmed reservation and showed up exactly on time. The owner kicked us out as he had a wedding in the back. I showed him the written confirmation he didn’t care. Had a fake I apologize on his lips but didn’t offer to rebook, didn’t offer a drink just didn’t care. 30 minutes drive wasted each way. What a jerk.
As a side note to Open Table you can’t book a backup as you can’t cancel the old reservation after start time.
Great garden brunch. Owner is super cool and sat down to talk to us and give us local recommendations 👍
Absolutely unique experience that completely blew away my expectations! The food was unbelievable and the chef and staff personally come to the table to talk about their dishes and offer to pair a specific glass of wine to each course.
We went for the Sunday brunch-the service was excellent, food was great, and the facility was amazing. After we finished, Joel the owner took us on a tour of the second and third floor as well as the beautiful gardens. I am looking forward to my next visit there.
I loved Lumber Baron. Our meal included the best trout and best trout that I have ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked and the Scottish dessert of whipped cream, fruit, honey and brandy was good without being to sweet.
We will definitely go back.
Fell in love with this place. The restoration of this beautiful Inn was charming and food was delicious! Plan to come back for sure.
We enjoyed a lovely dining experience with superb food and service. We had the special pleasure of meeting our knowledgeable host, who shared the story of this beautiful historic house and provided a guided tour of the building and it’s delightful gardens.
We had an enjoyable culinary evening. The chef prepared a 5 course meal of his choice. He then selected several wines to pair with each course. Our party was two couples looking for a unique dining experience. The place didn't disappoint.
Fantastic hidden gem! We celebrated a birthday here and it felt so special. The ambiance is amazing and the prices are great too. Joel, the owner/chef is very personable and makes sure everyone is enjoying their experience. Will be back for sure!
Great place to enjoy wine and dinner! We also found out it was a B&B! :-)
AMAZING in every way. We were looking for a quiet place with great food in or near the Highlands to catch up with friends. Highlands and quiet dining don't exactly go together... until last night. If you book dinner at The Lumber Baron you get a private chef for the night. Tasting menu with wine pairings kept coming and it was hard to decide which course was better than the one before it. We were just two couples (sitting in the fabulous round table in the front) but we want to go back with a large group where we'd have room and conditions to really catch up with friends. And one glance at the Sunday Brunch menu and that became a Bucket List to do also. Don't miss this one! It's like hosting a dinner party with a private chef but in the coolest venue you'll ever find!
Loved the Victorian vibe with all the beautiful woodwork, decorations, fireplaces! the food was delicious and i can't wait to come in the summer and try out the garden patio dining, jazz concerts. Staff was very welcoming and loved the after meal tour of the Inn.
Great place to have brunch
Last night we celebrated our friend Sandy’s birthday at Lumber Baron Inn and it was incredible. Not only is the space a beautiful restored Victorian Bed & Breakfast from the early 19th century that delights at every turn with charm but the food was incredible too. Joel created an amazing 5-course menu that impressed us through each and every course. The service was stellar, Joel was an incredible host and the food was exquisite. I highly recommend...especially if you want something special. We plan to go back and try for brunch.
Great experience at the Inn. Joel is a great host, and the food was beyond great! Highly recommend this place for an experience you will remember. Awesome property, Joel was kind enough to give us a tour of the inn after our dinner. 5 stars.
This historic mansion is worth going to just because it is gorgeously restored. The owner was our waiter and gave us a tour after our meal. Lunch was good. Not great but good and it was surprisingly inexpensive. The accompanying salad was arugula so for some people not enticing. I like arugula but this was nearly all arugula with a horse radish flavored dressing that was too generously applied. Main courses were quite fine.
We enjoyed a Sunday, Easter brunch at the Lumbar Baron Inn. Prior to our meal they had an egg hunt for the kids who were present. The staff was pleasant and the food was very tasty. The best part was the ambiance of this old, historic mansion. I am looking forward to going back and trying out their afternoon tea with my friends.
Gorgeous house with incredible ambiance. We loved The Lumber Baron Inn and Gardens for Sunday Brunch. There were 8 of us, we could easily hear each other. There was a variety of fresh, delicious foods and the servers were attentive and friendly. Overall a great dining experience.
We went for Valentines Day with a pre-fixed menu so maybe another night might be better, but we won’t likely give it another try nonetheless. The best thing we had was the halibut entree, followed by the steak; however, the halibut was covered in an arugula sauce that had way too much garlic in it and the steak was accompanied by a single prawn, not de shelled and way over cooked. One of the desserts had a crust that was so hard it could not be cut or eaten. Pretty building inside and out makes for unique ambiance, but not worth the rest.
Amazing location. Food was fantastic. The owners introduced themselves and gave us a tour of the house. Great all around
When we noticed the Lumber Baron Inn on opentable we were very excited. We always wanted to see the inside and booked it for that reason alone.
What we didn't expect was the food, the staff, & the new owners to be so amazing. We will definitely be back for not only brunch again, but also their wine nights as it sounds like an awesome experience too!
This place is a gem.
Fortunate enough to live in the same city as the Lumbar Baron Inn. I thought the history of the home was unique, and to be able to have a lovely brunch was a bonus! Joel, the property manager, is such a people person. He is a lively soul and made us feel at home; and we were not even B&B guests, just invading for brunch. I hope to be able to take more friends and family here. One of the people I was with is now planning to have his retirement party here, if able to.
Beautiful home. Skimpy selection on brunch buffet for $45. Cookies for dessert?Waitress was horrible, forgot everything (buffet, can we have water??) Tables crowded too close to each other.
At $25 a meal for an open buffet plus made to order omelet station our overall experience was pretty good. However we dined for the mothers day brunch... No price difference were posted on their website, in person or when they called to confirm our reservation. So needless to say we were surprised when our bill came and it was $40 a person. At that price! It definitely was not worth it. The food was good and there was a nice selection. The service was friendly and helpful and very accommodating to our small child. Am I running back for another meal? No. Would I try their afternoon tea, sure! So just a note if you are planning to go for a special occasion or holiday make sure you check the prices before hand!
We did an early Mother's Day brunch here. Quality food, great environment, and a personally lead tour by the owner. Our moms loved it (and so did we)
We had a wonderful brunch. Loved it and the guided tour of the historic mansion. We will be back soon
This is a beautiful location with excellent food and extremely courteous staff and owners. I plan to return for brunch with my sister in a couple of weeks. The restoration of this elegant Victorian home is marvelous. The very kind owner, Elaine, took us on a private tour of the rooms top to bottom. Made for a fabulous Easter.
This mansion is beautiful in the Highlands area of Denver. It was Easter Brunch and the food was fantastic, the Bloody Mary was excellent and the staff very nice. What a gorgeous house.
I liked the place. Over priced for the food (brunch) options. I thought there was an omelet station, never saw it. But the general mood was fun. Service... very good. We'll go back. But it will require a special occasion.
Beautiful venue with style and detail of the period. Craig and his staff were professional and personable, welcoming and attentive. It is a relaxing atmosphere where one can relax and converse without the usual hurly burly and noise.
We had the best brunch at the Lumber Baron than we have experienced in a long time. The food was prepared fresh, with care and was varied enough for everyone to be satisfied. The biscuits and gravy were a table favorite.
Nice Easter Brunch with out the bustle and noise of some of the bigger events
I love the Lumber Baron Inn so much. The staff is wonderful and Joel is an accomplished chef. My husband and I were married there in December and just celebrated our first Valentine's Day there. What wonderful memories so far and many more to come.
We had a lovely Valentines Day dinner. Food and service were excellent. The jazz group played a great selection of vintage jazz at the perfect volume level that added to the ambiance without interfering with conversation. The owner was cordial and charming with his table side visit. We will be back for some of their themed dinner evening. This is a NW Denver neighborhood gem!
This is a new venture in a historic Bed and Breakfast theme. The food is fabulous, menu creative. And so much fun in the neighborhood! But whether you live in the hood or have to drive here - a must try!
What a beautiful restaurant and B&B. The food and service are amazing!
