The food was not as good and organized on Mother’s Day brunch since it was so crowded. I love their regular Sunday brunches!
400 for brunch for four adults and two kids. Sold bottomless champagne for an additional fee (on top of the 50.00 per adult for buffet) the first glass was brought to the table along with cheesy wrist bands and told we had to put on and go accross the crowded dining floor, outside to the buffet area and wait in line for refills - my parents are elderly and my mother walks with a cane. The waiter should have mentioned this up front. I love the theater side, and normal breakfast mid week once in a while, but Id stay far away from the brunch on a mother’s day or special occasion.
I think a Mother’s Day brunch set an expectation that this would be a little better than a basic brunch. The brunch was an underwhelming and understaffed spread. The food was not really good... it was fine but some items were overtly bad (bagels dry, potatoes soggy, several things over salted, all sweet items were far too sweet). It was my fault for thinking there was live music (I think your other location had it) but i was underwhelmed and disappointed that I selected this for mother’s day. Also $50 per adult was too much to charge given how underwhelming it was - I resented our large bill.
We chose The Lot in La Jolla as our late night dining choice after attending our Prom at the Birch Aquarium. It was the perfect choice! The atmosphere was fun and romantic. We ordered the delicious flatbread, the most decadent, amazing(!!) mac n cheese & the yummy mini Brie grilled cheese. My girlfriend, Cora, loves her cheese!!
Unbeknownst to us, the owner and his family were seated beside us. He engaged us in conversation asking about our Prom & dining experience at The Lot. Afterward, he graciously gave us two complimentary movie tickets inviting us back for another romantic, amazing night! Dessert was the perfect ending to our Perfect Prom, rich & creamy chocolate cheesecake!! The cherry on top was noticing the wonderful man (owner) had so kindly purchased dessert for us as well!! You really made us feel special and we will remember your kindness and generosity always whenever we find ourselves back at The Lot in La Jolla for the rest of our lives. :) Thank you from bottom of our hearts. -Sam&Cora-
We watching the Canelo vs Jacobs fight. I love how they had a special menu for the event!!
We reserved a table in the dining room and were assured, prior to our movie, that a table would be held for us. After the movie, we were told there was no table for us and were seated at a make-shift table set up immediately next to the drummer of the band on Taco Tuesday. The music was so loud we could not hear ourselves think. Additionally, no waiter ever came to our table. We chose to leave and will not return.
We had breakfast there before seeing a movie. Whenever dining there we always have challenges with the food quality and this was no exception. When we arrived there were only 4 other diners in the restaurant but we still had issues. It took an hour to get our food and even then my omelette took an additional 10 minutes after everyone else had their food. On top of that three of the five hot dishes were cold... nothing like cold eggs and oatmeal. With no one in the restaurant how can this be? We dined there for convenience but every time we go there we say never again and this was no exception.
Made reservations and when we got there they told my party they had no indoor seats. I asked politely how long it would be for a table inside and they said they didn't know because a lot of people just walked in without reservations. My party did not want to sit outside because it was cold that night. I asked how long it would be for an inside table and the receptionist said she had no idea. I told them I was disappointed because I made a reservation for this type of circumstance and they didn't offer so much as an apology. It is safe to say making a reservation here is very useless. Will not be returning to this location again.
Try the creme brûlée! Great service and food, cocktails could be a little stronger
The food was very good. The brussels sprout appetizer was delicious and a generous portion. My flatbread entree was tasty. My husband's salmon was cooked a little more than he liked, but it was till tasty. The waiter could have paid more attention to guests, especially since there were very few guests.
We he served my entree, he asked if I would like parmesan cheese; I replied yes, he returned some time later, said he forgot, then went and got the cheese. Refills on the water or iced tea were not offered. Overall, our experience was pleasant, a little pricey, but it is La Jolla. I don't mind paying a bit more, if it is accompanied with good service.
Super unique bar, restaurant, and movie theater all in one spot. No expense seemed to be spared on this place. Very beautiful
We say the live band that always plays Sunday nights. He has an incredible voice!!! We enjoyed everything and we will be coming back more often on sundays.
We have a wonderful night, dinner was amazing. Thank you Rafael
Music too loud and aggressive in character. Too many banquette tables in an endless row. Server was pleasant but service itself was glacial. Suspect they're understaffed.
The hostess and our waitress Naomi were outstanding. Loved our meals.
We were looking for good food and good drinks in a casual atmosphere where we could hear each other speak and watch some conference championship basketball - checked all the boxes!
Had wonderful time,$20 bottomless mimosas was awesome, the ladies had a wonderful time. Thanks Rafael.
We had a great experience at The Lot. We used Fox5 BeOurGuest and saved 50% our evening. Theater was comfortable and nice. Dinner was yummy, and our waiter, Grant was AWESOME and helpful. Manger, came by to make sure we were happy. This is a great place, I definitely recommend.
Our server was wonderful. Corkage fee is $35, which is bit high even in this area. We ordered the flatbread, truffle fries, the Lot burger and cocktails. The food was not hot and there was a big wait for the food to be served after we ordered.
It was my birthday. Three girlfriends took me out to lunch at the Lot. Then we went into the theater and watched “the green book.“ I had the avocado toast, and it was outstanding. But what really got me was the complimentary birthday cake provided by the restaurant. It was a hefty slice of carrot cake with a sparkler in place of the candle. How festive it is that!?!
Alan a manager and our waitress were very nice and the whole experience was perfect for Valentine's Day. Thanks, Scott
Delightful. The food was amazing. The service, incredible. The price point is high, but it IS La Jolla.
This is the 3r time I have eaten at the Lot after a movie and have not been impressed. This time fish was okay a bit dry and the gnocchi were bad...overcooked, dry and very little sauce.
Loved it, they should have a mimosa special along with the brunch.
Went to The Lot for a nice night out and wasn’t disappointed! Awesome place to go eat, relax and watch a movie.
We watched a movie, I love the seats!! They are so comfortable! The food came out fast as well.
65$ cover charge for a buffet that was done by half time. Food was substandard.
This is our new date night spot. We came for taco night and they had salsa dancing as well. We are definitely coming back, well after we practice some lol.
They had a great brunch buffet, my mother really enjoyed herself.
They have a great brunch bar Sunday's and a very relaxed atmosphere. Service can be a bit slow but this is not generally an issue with a buffet.
We came for taco Tuesday! Loved the live band and Latin dancing! We will be coming back!!
We love the new trend in having large comfortable seats in theaters plus food and beverage service. Yes, it costs more but at our age it's worth it. Not to mention underground parking or even valet parking in La Jolla, where parking is scarce period.
The food at The Lot restaurant is a nice cross section of small bites and mains that can go from lunch to dinner. Nothing over the top or super gourmet but familiar food.
Yes, we'd go back for sure
We had a wonderful time, the staff was so nice and welcoming, we enjoyed everything. The manager stopped by our table to see how we were doing, that showed us that they cared. My husband and I now have a new date night spot.
Horrible service, hostess took 10 min to say hello, and then after seating us, we left after 15 min, no one even came to say hi.
The food was good, everything was pretty expensive, including the drinks.
The Lot has gone downhill a bit. Service as mediocre. Food was decent.
Overall not well impressed.
Lunch with my daughters was lovely
The lot on New year's eve probably not the best place to go spend your night. They didn't seem well prepared or equipped for sucha night.
Been here before but this time it exceeded our expectations as the food was excellent
