Horrible service, hostess took 10 min to say hello, and then after seating us, we left after 15 min, no one even came to say hi.
The food was good, everything was pretty expensive, including the drinks.
The Lot has gone downhill a bit. Service as mediocre. Food was decent.
Overall not well impressed.
Lunch with my daughters was lovely
The lot on New year's eve probably not the best place to go spend your night. They didn't seem well prepared or equipped for sucha night.
Been here before but this time it exceeded our expectations as the food was excellent
It was s fixed price menu for NYE & no where on my reservation did it say that. Not what I planned on spending at a movie theatre.
New Years celebration with family. The special New Years Eve menu was very interesting. Mushroom tartlet was AMAZING, while the beef tenderloin and lobster tail was disappointing. Bland and rubbery. Creme brûlée was tasty.
Ambiance was festive and elegant. Service was excellent.
$90 price per person for New Years dinner too high for quantity given
Our waiter was amazing and so attentive. He definitely made our night out memorable.
I have eaten at The Lot a number of times. Knowing only a few restaurants were open Christmas Day I made a reservation beforehand. There was nothing on the website indicating regular dinner menu would not be available. The set meal menu presented had no price listed and offered few options. We opted for the movie food menu which was fine. Our waiter was a lovely young man who was worked very hard but still managed to look after us. I’m sorry that I don’t know his name. He is bald with glasses and very very pleasant.
While we were seated quickly, the service was very slow. However the waiter was kind and we had built in enough time before the movie that it wasn't that big of a deal. The food was delicious! We had a fixed Christmas Day menu and everything was excellent except for the dessert. It really was exceptional fine dining food. When we were asked, we complimented the food and talked candidly about the dessert. Our waiter gave us two passes to the movies in January. It was so nice of them. So be prepared for slow service, but the food was excellent. Skip the dessert.
Terrible service, flavorless food, expensive.
We made reservations online for Christmas brunch and were expecting to be able to order from the breakfast/ brunch menu. There was nothing on your website that indicated breakfast wasn’t available or that a buffet was the only option. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told we couldn’t order breakfast, only lunch. We wound up spending $35 per person for brunch buffet. Very disappointing. Then when we went to the movie, nobody checked our tickets, the service button on all of our chairs was non functional. It took 10 minutes to flag down a server to order a drink, and a receipt was never produced. Very disappointing experience given our expectations.
Since i live in La Jolla, I go to The Lot out of convenience. The movie theatre is very comfortable and you have the best popcorn. However, the restaurant is very noisy, which inhibits having any kind of a conversation. The food is okay and the service is slow.
Love going to The Lot in La Jolla.. Great place to hangout, eat, have drinks, coffee and desserts and they have the best Brunch set up on Sunday's!
Bonus, there is always something going on or being held there.
The menu is terrible. The chopped turkey salad is made of deli turkey. They need to update their menu. Beautiful environment.
We love watching and listening to Roman Palacios and he is what brings us to The Lot. It is a wonderful venue, good service and delicious food.
I’ve been to The Lot location at Liberty Station and enjoy it very much. Sadly, I was SO disappointed with the service at this location... we had a reservation and stood there waiting for 15 minutes before someone even came to the hostess desk (and that was literally only after I went to the ticket sales desk and asked the employee if we were supposed to be checking in somewhere else or if there was a hostess somewhere). Then after we were sat, we waited for another 15 minutes at our table and literally not a single staff member came to greet us or bring water or take an order, nothing. They were there, mingling around, refilling waters, and talking to each other, but for some reason we seemed invisible. So after we literally made the decision to wait 5 more minutes for someone to come (which didn’t happen), we got up and found the hostess to tell her we would relocate ourselves to the bar area in hopes of better service and instead we were front row to an employee-employee argument. While we were given menus the staff never stopped by again to allow us to order anything... we literally got there an hour early to eat something before our movie started and ended up only having a single drink in that entire time. I don’t mind paying more when out for the evening having a good time... but it was to the point where it was almost comical how bad this experience was and how pretentious the staff came across. I really hope this is not a true reflection of the service and ambiance sold to customers at The Lot- La Jolla.
Never have good service there!
Open Thanksgiving. Barely acknowledged that we had reservations. Food was good, but service slow. Seated in a part of the restaurant where we weren't obviously visible. Our bar order never arrived, and saw the waiter so rarely that I figured if I had reminded him of the order, it wouldn't arrive before we were ready to leave. Fortunately, we weren't billed for drinks.
Great Thanksgiving Experience for a new family to San Diego! Great value and service.
This is a wonderful restaurants, and luxury movie theater. It's a very special place. Breezy and open, the space is stylish, the staff is very friendly and inviting. Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful, the dinner plate was so amazing and plate after plate left the kitchen to the very full restaurant. Very comfortable place, try it out. I would say that it's a very good place to recommend for Thanksgiving. Especially for people whose families are elsewhere or people who just want an environment where people are friendly and enjoying a very good Thanksgiving meal in a beautiful surrounding. Ultimately, it was a very good value and you get a free movie ticket. I'm told it really is special. So thank you The Lot. I think you are a great place.
A little unorganized and overpriced. Was fun to be able to take wine into the theater. Better to just go to the movie and order in the theater, they can bring food in, this part was fun!
The restaurant was not crowded and our service/wait time was terrible.
Understaffed when we were there. Hostess had to double as server. Slow, and erratic. Food was excellent.
First time there. Was given a gift card. Thought it was great food. Good prices on beer. And first time in a recliner watching a movie! It was great and I did it for my birthday! Got a great sparkler desert for my birthday on the house.
The food was good and it worked out great to eat there before our movie but the service was SUPER slow! It was not busy enough to explain why the service was so slow and with being on a time limits ur to seeing a movie it was kind if annoying to have to hunt the waiter down.
I am always impressed with the cleanliness of every part of The Lot. We always have a great time when we visit, and the movie experience cannot be beat. We won't go anywhere else!
Good ambiance. We ordered their signature burger. When it get served, it was not warm and the bottom burger bun is already soggy.
The restaurant is convenient when seeing a movie however the dinner we had was mediocre. The service was fine but for the price and quality of the food it was lacking. Perhaps lunch is better.
Food was not accurate, had to wait for server to assist us.
The evening for the Brazilian Night was very disappointing. The food was horrible, no ambiance and the service was mediocre. It was very expensive for what it was on top of everything else. We like The Lot on different nights but this special night was clearly off.
Samba dancers were sensational! What a spectacular treat to hear a live Brazilian Samba band playing while two samba dancers in full costume performed for the audience. Dancing area for dining/bar guests too. Food was amazing with carving station and traditional Brazilian side pairings and exclusive drinks.
Good location, ate inside which is almost same as outside. Menu is varied and good without being
too expensive but its not really modern Californian food. Wine prices are high for this type of locale. Above average service in that all staff
wanted us to have a good dinner. What is nice is noise level - you can have a decent conversation without
shouting. No dishes stand out in my memory.
Breakfast was delicious and the service was great.
We were seated right away as per our reservation, but did not have a waiter for 20 minutes (not even wate ...). We complained and were assigned a different waiter. Our drinks came 10 minutes after, but we waited for 45 minutes for our food to come (3 flat breads & 1 pasta), at which point we found out one of the foods (pasta) were wrong and had to be remade. Add an additional 10 minutes. We had to catch a movie, so after we said we want to cancel the wrong food, the waiter kindly brought the food to us before we entered the theater and was very apologetic, which we appreciated very much.
At that point the mood of the night had already been ruined, which was a shame since we were celebrating such important and special occasions (birthday & parent’s wedding anniversary).
I always had great experiences at this place which is why I suggested to my in-laws to come here. As nice, kind, and apologetic as our waiter was, I will not be back to this place for dine in, especially not with a group, and especially not for special occasions.
We've been coming to The LOT about every 6 weeks since it opened. But we are done for now. We have experienced 3 poor meals in a row over the last several months and this last Saturday was the final straw. 3 bowls of Tortilla soup took over 35 minutes to arrive and was not up to par, just warm and not hot, missing the avocado which normally makes it tasty. The House Salad with chicken was basically greens, tomatoes, some carrot shavings and chicken that looked like it came from a box (if that is even possible), and also missing key ingredients. No vinaigrette available, so we had do-it-yourself oil and vinegar on the salad, which we could manage. The food was below average and the service slow. They dropped the salad from the bill, but a smaller check doesn't equal a satisfying meal. We are going to have to go elsewhere before the movie from now on. Bummer.
Enjoyed listening to the music of Roman Palacios & band
