We love watching and listening to Roman Palacios and he is what brings us to The Lot. It is a wonderful venue, good service and delicious food.
I’ve been to The Lot location at Liberty Station and enjoy it very much. Sadly, I was SO disappointed with the service at this location... we had a reservation and stood there waiting for 15 minutes before someone even came to the hostess desk (and that was literally only after I went to the ticket sales desk and asked the employee if we were supposed to be checking in somewhere else or if there was a hostess somewhere). Then after we were sat, we waited for another 15 minutes at our table and literally not a single staff member came to greet us or bring water or take an order, nothing. They were there, mingling around, refilling waters, and talking to each other, but for some reason we seemed invisible. So after we literally made the decision to wait 5 more minutes for someone to come (which didn’t happen), we got up and found the hostess to tell her we would relocate ourselves to the bar area in hopes of better service and instead we were front row to an employee-employee argument. While we were given menus the staff never stopped by again to allow us to order anything... we literally got there an hour early to eat something before our movie started and ended up only having a single drink in that entire time. I don’t mind paying more when out for the evening having a good time... but it was to the point where it was almost comical how bad this experience was and how pretentious the staff came across. I really hope this is not a true reflection of the service and ambiance sold to customers at The Lot- La Jolla.
Never have good service there!
Open Thanksgiving. Barely acknowledged that we had reservations. Food was good, but service slow. Seated in a part of the restaurant where we weren't obviously visible. Our bar order never arrived, and saw the waiter so rarely that I figured if I had reminded him of the order, it wouldn't arrive before we were ready to leave. Fortunately, we weren't billed for drinks.
Great Thanksgiving Experience for a new family to San Diego! Great value and service.
This is a wonderful restaurants, and luxury movie theater. It's a very special place. Breezy and open, the space is stylish, the staff is very friendly and inviting. Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful, the dinner plate was so amazing and plate after plate left the kitchen to the very full restaurant. Very comfortable place, try it out. I would say that it's a very good place to recommend for Thanksgiving. Especially for people whose families are elsewhere or people who just want an environment where people are friendly and enjoying a very good Thanksgiving meal in a beautiful surrounding. Ultimately, it was a very good value and you get a free movie ticket. I'm told it really is special. So thank you The Lot. I think you are a great place.
A little unorganized and overpriced. Was fun to be able to take wine into the theater. Better to just go to the movie and order in the theater, they can bring food in, this part was fun!
The restaurant was not crowded and our service/wait time was terrible.
Understaffed when we were there. Hostess had to double as server. Slow, and erratic. Food was excellent.
First time there. Was given a gift card. Thought it was great food. Good prices on beer. And first time in a recliner watching a movie! It was great and I did it for my birthday! Got a great sparkler desert for my birthday on the house.
The food was good and it worked out great to eat there before our movie but the service was SUPER slow! It was not busy enough to explain why the service was so slow and with being on a time limits ur to seeing a movie it was kind if annoying to have to hunt the waiter down.
I am always impressed with the cleanliness of every part of The Lot. We always have a great time when we visit, and the movie experience cannot be beat. We won't go anywhere else!
Good ambiance. We ordered their signature burger. When it get served, it was not warm and the bottom burger bun is already soggy.
The restaurant is convenient when seeing a movie however the dinner we had was mediocre. The service was fine but for the price and quality of the food it was lacking. Perhaps lunch is better.
Food was not accurate, had to wait for server to assist us.
The evening for the Brazilian Night was very disappointing. The food was horrible, no ambiance and the service was mediocre. It was very expensive for what it was on top of everything else. We like The Lot on different nights but this special night was clearly off.
Samba dancers were sensational! What a spectacular treat to hear a live Brazilian Samba band playing while two samba dancers in full costume performed for the audience. Dancing area for dining/bar guests too. Food was amazing with carving station and traditional Brazilian side pairings and exclusive drinks.
Good location, ate inside which is almost same as outside. Menu is varied and good without being
too expensive but its not really modern Californian food. Wine prices are high for this type of locale. Above average service in that all staff
wanted us to have a good dinner. What is nice is noise level - you can have a decent conversation without
shouting. No dishes stand out in my memory.
Breakfast was delicious and the service was great.
We were seated right away as per our reservation, but did not have a waiter for 20 minutes (not even wate ...). We complained and were assigned a different waiter. Our drinks came 10 minutes after, but we waited for 45 minutes for our food to come (3 flat breads & 1 pasta), at which point we found out one of the foods (pasta) were wrong and had to be remade. Add an additional 10 minutes. We had to catch a movie, so after we said we want to cancel the wrong food, the waiter kindly brought the food to us before we entered the theater and was very apologetic, which we appreciated very much.
At that point the mood of the night had already been ruined, which was a shame since we were celebrating such important and special occasions (birthday & parent’s wedding anniversary).
I always had great experiences at this place which is why I suggested to my in-laws to come here. As nice, kind, and apologetic as our waiter was, I will not be back to this place for dine in, especially not with a group, and especially not for special occasions.
We've been coming to The LOT about every 6 weeks since it opened. But we are done for now. We have experienced 3 poor meals in a row over the last several months and this last Saturday was the final straw. 3 bowls of Tortilla soup took over 35 minutes to arrive and was not up to par, just warm and not hot, missing the avocado which normally makes it tasty. The House Salad with chicken was basically greens, tomatoes, some carrot shavings and chicken that looked like it came from a box (if that is even possible), and also missing key ingredients. No vinaigrette available, so we had do-it-yourself oil and vinegar on the salad, which we could manage. The food was below average and the service slow. They dropped the salad from the bill, but a smaller check doesn't equal a satisfying meal. We are going to have to go elsewhere before the movie from now on. Bummer.
Enjoyed listening to the music of Roman Palacios & band
Impressive space with indoor and outdoor options. We chose inside because there was a live band on the patio and would have been impossible to have a conversation. Catch of the day was yellow fin tuna and was very good; however the paella was disappointing and overpriced for a couple of shrimp and five measly mussels. Service was so-so.
Beauriful venue +state of the art architecture+ movies+ Great bar scene+ outdoir seating with heaters + Live music+parking
We went there for the music. Roman was fantastic as always! We will be back. Love the venue outside
Flamenco night was amazing! The food was incredible. The sangria was so delicious and I can’t wait for the next time they do flamenco night because I want to go again!
What made the night was the live music. The band was great! They played some great songs and they invited the audience to go up to dance. It was such a festive night. Thank you to all who coordinated this event!
The Lot cancelled my reservation because I wouldn’t give a stranger my credit card number over the phone.
I sincerely enjoyed the Flamenco event. Food was great and my out of town friend was impressed.
Service is always terrible here.
They gave my reservation away!!! Yet open table said i was “dining”
The atmosphere of The Lot is pleasant and the food was quite good, however, the music is always too loud. It was impossible to hear the voices of our friends across the table and this is a repeated experience for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is no reason why the music has to be at a level where diners cannot have an enjoyable experience where all can talk in a normal tone. They do have Taco Tuesday / Salsa night, which I understand is very popular, however, for other days, reducing the volume of the music would certainly help bring in more customers.
Great atmosphere & delicious food Don’t miss The Brunch! It’s fabulous & see a movie afterwards!
I be been avoiding the LOT because of the loud music all day long. They have a new manager now who listens to the customers- the service has improved as well as the music volume. You can finally enjoy the ambiance of the LOT without blasting music!
Hope they expand their menu and offer more choices of salads.
Really enjoyed Sunday dinner while listening to opera singer Roman Palacios
It is a great location for the movie going and local stop. We planned on a dinner movie night for the family. After arriving it was 15 minutes before I had to get up and ask for someone to come to get orders. When the waiter arrived he has abrupt to the point of being rude. The food was decent, not great. Later in the evening, the music was great. Overall, we will not come back for movie dinner but maybe for drinks and snacks for music but will look for other options in LJ.
Taco Tuesdays are a blast. We weren’t too happy when they turned the music way UP at one point... but the taco bar is highest quality and we will be regulars!
Review for restaurant...
Unbeknownst to us we made reservations for Salsa Tuesday, but we still had a great time. Our reserved table was unfortunately adjacent to the speakers and since we wanted to hear one another and not blow an ear drum we opted to sit in the bar area. A high top table suited us just fine. We were given water and menus immediately and the All-You-Can-Eat Taco Bar was explained to us. Although we opted to skip the taco bar (we were short on time to make our movie), we really enjoyed watching people salsa dance and the music was spectacular. Upon finding out we could order food and drink and take them with us into the movie we were thrilled. We split the Ahi Tartare while I got a glass of the Prosecco, she got a Blueberry Lemonade (sans alcohol = nursing mama). The Ahi was amazing, like incredible! The fresh Ahi paired with the fresh avocado and ponzu, was light and refreshing. In hindsight we would have each gotten one and skipped the flatbread we ordered in the theatre. The Prosecco made me wish I'd Uber'd to the theatre so I could have enjoyed another glass.
Our waitress was so kind and offered great menu suggestions. The ambiance was refreshing and filled with voices and music, but the open concept still allowed for conversation without yelling. The menu had a lot to offer everyone - veggie, gluten free, meat eater, starving, browsing, just a nibble, etc.
I would definitely recommend The Lot La Jolla and STRONGLY suggest making reservations via OpenTable before you show up or expect to wait a while.
Great place, great food, great live music. A true Paradise!
This was a great place to have my friends Baby shower over the weekend. The staff was EXTREMELY accommodating!! It was a very hot day, and there wasn’t much breeze, so we were all very hot, but that’s not the LOT’s fault. It just happened to be a hot day.
