The Long Valley Pub & Brewery Ratings and Reviews
Friday night 630pm early reservation, tons of tables along the windows open, yet we were seated 2 feet from the kitchen. Crammed in to the point the next table had to shimmy their table over. Made no sense. Won't be going back any time soon. Food average at best. Total thumps down.
Had been waiting to go here for awhile. Was kind of disappointed. The beer was mediocre, the food was OK, but the French fries were super greasy, which at a pub is a sin. The service was totally subpar, pleasant but we waited a long time. Maybe they were having an off night so I will totally try it again, as everyone deserves a second chance, but this review is based solely on this one experience.
Must admit I was a bit disappointed this time. We generally only visit LVBP once/year to coincide with a fall trip to Hacklebarney State Park. This year the beer selection was somewhat limited (no pumpkin) and the menu was not as varied as prior years.
The food was still good, the beer that was available was still nice, and the service was excellent.
This is the second time in a row now that I have experienced terrible service. The first time was about 6 weeks ago in August and it was not very busy. It was a weekday. This time it was a busy Sunday lunch. The waiter took forever taking our order and then forever bringing our food. When we got our food, half of it was cold. Our beer glasses were empty. While my burger was actually pretty good I didn't appreciate the cold french fries and another 20 minute wait to bring me more fries that were not quite cooked. I complained to the manager who said she was going to check on our orders and then never came back. We wound up getting a free lunch but I have been coming here for years and I was embarrassed that I brought my friend there for the first time. Very disappointed.
My husband and I dined here for our Friday night date. What a delightful surprise. We enjoyed good beverages, delicious foods and terrific ambiance. We dined outside because the evening was lovely. My husband enjoyed delicious clams with a side of pasta. This accommodation our waiter made for him since there was not a clam/pasta dish. I had one of the best French dip sandwiches! We will be back to try other foods on the menu and try dining inside, which looked lovely too.
I had made a reservations for a party of 6 for my wife's birthday, when we arrived they did not have a table available and told me another party had been sitting in our table for 2 hours and had not left yet. Yet, when asked why they did not prepare another table in preparation of our arrival, they did not have an answer
The old stone barn is charming. The waitress was attentive and apologetic for the translucent, undercooked shrimp, which was returned to the kitchen. The burger was ordered medium and came rare. The over-dressed salad and wilted lettuce were tolerated but not enjoyed. The beer was excellent.
If we ever go back, it will just be for a beer. Too bad, because the brewpub location and historic building were a real draw.
Upon arriving there were at least six open tables outside tables of four or more we were a party of two we were informed the wait would be 45 minutes for outside because they're holding the bigger tables for larger parties that might show up After eating inside we left and found at least 8 to 10 tables now available outside our whole point of going there was to eat outside we were told those tables are only for parties of four or more and that we could not have one we were told this is the policy of the owner after eating average at best food and being told we couldn't have a table that sad empty the entire time we were there I would have to say I would not recommend this place to anyone average food at best and a policy that I believe is ridiculous the policy will keep us from ever going there again and I would recommend not going to this establishment
We visited the Long Valley Pub and Brewery several times and wanted to return, adding variety to our dining out. The service is always great; nice people, friendly, and super accommodating. Hubby had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly, and I had the salmon. Again, the food was delicious, generous portions and accompaniments were geared to the dishes. Great food for a very fair price.
Food was subpar at best. Service horrible (Luz). One server continued to yell across the tables to other servers. If we hadn't had the lovely ambiance of being outside we wouldn't have stayed. Will not be returning. Oh and they do not offer their brunch anymore.
Negative start. Ordered a Martini and they had no Martini glasses at 6:30 on a Saturday night. The drink was good, but I always like it better in the right glass. That being said, we started with the Orchard salad which we both loved. Warning, it is big and filling! It was really delicious. Then we both had a hamburger which again was very good and substancial. I could only eat half. The fries were very good too. With 2 drinks and a glass of wine our bill was $97.00 with a 20% tip included. A little steep for 2 salads and 2 burgers. All in all it was good. BTW the service was great!
Recently dined at Long Valley Pub and Brewer with a date. The service was prompt and attentive. We shared a coconut shrimp appetizer which was very good. For dinner, I had the sauerbraten. Very tender and delicious. My date had the Gnocchi Bolognese which she really enjoyed. For drinks, I had the German Valley Amber as it was the recommended pairing with sauerbraten. Very good beer, with some bitterness but not overwhelming.
The noise level on a Thursday evening at around 6:30 pm was perfect. Not too loud, you could have a conversation at a normal volume.
Overall, a very pleasant dinner. I would like to come back when we can dine outside. A little too chilly for that in March.
First time eating at Long Valley Pub. Beer was good, cocktails were average. Our Blood Orange Martini wasn't garnished although table next to us was. Entrees served while still finishing appetizers, poor kitchen/server communication. Overall, slightly above average. Atmosphere may bring us back one more time for comparison.
The beers they brew were drinkable but not anything remarkable. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly and hot. However although the restaurant had only a few people we felt rushed. Also the hostess talked non stop and loudly to the few patrons at the bar. Best weinerscnitzel I ever had though and great portions.
I surprised my boyfriend for valentine's day (he is all about beer). It's a great atmosphere; different setting (reminded me of the Medieval/Renaissance (stone walls, wood, three levels). Lamb plate was delicious! Disappointed I wasn't able to enjoy a glass of wine (there wasn't any sweet red wine). Overall, friendly staff and live music was great!
