The Long Room Ratings and Reviews
This is a gastropub and sports bar, walking distance from Times Square. We ate there after a show and were pleasantly surprised. Ambience is typical sports bar/pub...IMO the chicken shepherds' pie and lobster bisque are both outstanding, for any restaurant fare.
Food not bad. Got the lamb Chops. Over cooked. Biggest issue with this place is it was dirty. Table and chairs covered in crumbs. I looked to the booths next to us to see if possibly the bus boy just missed our table. Nope. All of them were dirty
The food was pretty bad. My husband had fish and chips. The fish was okay but the chips were really soggy. I had what described on the menu as baked chicken with polenta. It was two very dry grilled chicken breasts swimming in very watery polenta. While it didn't taste bad, it wasn't what I expected when I ordered baked chicken. Also, I ordered a frozen specialty drink for $15. It came in a pretty small glass with large pieces of crushed ice that filled more than half the glass - not worth it. The atmosphere/ambiance was cute Go there to drink with friends, not eat.
We were early. It was hot. The friendly waitress let us take a seat indoors (where it was air-conditioned) even though the restaurant didn't open for another 20 minutes or so. Service was just as friendly all the way through. The menu has a heavy Irish pub influence, which means food is hearty and portions are substantial. Our party had Irish breakfast, Cod and Chips, Shepherd's Pie and a Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna Salad and everyone was happy. On a cold night, this place would be really cozy and inviting.
Works well as place to stop in for a quick dinner before a show. Was very convenient for the theater and parking access. For a having a reservation we got tucked against the wall in a very noisy room on bar stools with no backs Service and burgers were good, although we hoped for something more fancy for a special night out.
Had reservations, but came early and sat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and helpful. When we sat our service was on point, and friendly, never waited for anything. Ordered a bunch of apps for the table, food was good. Will definitely be back to try the regular menu, had a large selection.
Wanted traditional pub food/Irish and got a restaurant trying to be too unique and just failing. They used a pork chop for a Reuben, yuck. They did shepherd's pie but with Chicken. Why not just call it chicken pot pie with potatoes. They didn't have a children's menu at all and charged my 10 year old $18 for a small order of sub par fish and chips. The Gorton's fisherman would be ashamed.
The service was great. The waitresses were very nice, but would be better off in another restaurant. Not impressed.
Went here for a pre-matinee lunch. The menu had a broad range of selections and specials. We went with two specials - a southwest steak salad with and a lime chicken sandwich. Both were very good. The steak was tender and done just as ordered, the salad ingredients were fresh and tossed in just the right amount of dressing. The chicken sandwich was also very good. Overall, a very nice place for lunch.
