Food is really good. The cod was well prepared and delicious. There is a tasty selection of bread served with real butter. Be advised, there are 2 rooms. The bar room is lively and noisy and has an a la carte menu. The inner room is quiet and has 2 price fixed menu - tasting (expensive) and 3 course (a little less expensive). If you do not want to eat 3 or 5 courses, reserve the bar room
Service was great and friendly. Liked the "small plates." We were able to try many things before we got full!
I was excited to eat at a restaurant by Gordon on my trip to New York and the Maze did not disappoint! The food was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing. Food tasted exactly as as I expected. I was not disappointed at all. So happy with my experience.
I don't think Gordon Ramsay has his eye on this restaurant. Sub-par when compared to his Las Vegas establishment. The food was very average and not served hot. Service was slow and confused at times.
Skip it. There are much better places to eat in New York.
I've been to Maze by Gordon Ramsay twice and both visits have been great. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food at a good price. The only thing I wish there was a better working website with a menu to more easily plan out a visit to the restaurant.
Food was excellent. Restaurant had no vibe to it, service was just ok. Nothing like other Gordon Ramsay restaurants I have visited.
Maze has lost it's umphs. Gone are the days of seasonal menu changes. The food is good but the service is a bit off. We still enjoy Maze.
Main reason we wanted to try here was Ramsay's beef wellington. When I made the reservation a month ahead of time I mentioned the same; some of the online menus showed it, some didn't. It wasn't until I called the day of the reservation to indicate we were running a bit late was I informed that umm, they just saw my email and they didn't have the wellington.
Food was good; server never asked how I wanted the lamb steak or steak frites cooked. Being a GR restaurant, we assumed it would come medium rare, since that is the way he prepares protein. It was medium to medium well -- disappointing.
Overall though food was good. $18 bucks for a simple cocktail is absurd. As good as the food was, we left hungry and scarfed down a $4 sausage from a food cart. Lol. Sorry Gordon!
We decided to go to this place because we thought "it has Gordon Ramsey's name in it, it must be good", but it was a disaster. As we got in, they sat us in a table with way too much light, like a spotlight - we asked to move and they were kind enough to get us a different place.
The place feels like a pub by the noise level and poor lighting but as a chic place by it's location/name. The food was dull with little choice for starters, mains and desserts and the whole experience made us think that Gordon should be paying more attention to his restaurants rather than trying to fix others'.
The Maze has the casual feel of a lounge but with food that makes the evening worth sharing. My wife and I did one of the Gordon Ramsay restaurants in London and it was great, but a bit more upscale than my Texas upbringing was used to. The Maze was sophisticated and comfortable, but down to earth. Drinks were perfect, and food was delicious. Service was fast, and we were quick in and back out to continue exploring NY.
Disapointing to learn that you have to sit in a hotel lobby bar when dining at this restaurant. Noise level is very high (too high) and you are sitting amongst people dropping in for a drink in the hotel bar. Service only fair and attention to the customers very low. As Gordon Ramsay has put name to this, the food was disappointing. All in all a very disappointing experience!
It was with great anticipation that we headed to Maze on a recent New York trip. The room has a cool vibe and we were quickly seated at a table that turned out to be behind a pillar, so we asked to move. Our first server was gracious and moved us to a different area in the room which put us with a new server. Who then proceeded to ignore us. It may have been understandable if he was really busy, but he was not as he was often standing talking to other servers.
After struggling to get a drink, then to order an appetizer we finally got up and walked out before dinner. While the food may have been great it didn't feel worth it to put up with the waiter's surly attitude.
Was chaotic when we entered. The bar tenders got into an argument that almost got physical after we ordered a drink. Menu was weak. We had a drink (which was very good), but returned the menu and left. It was not very clean and the atmosphere was very strange. We were very uncomfortable sitting there.
Forget about Chef Ramsey if you go to this place. It is a simple hotel bar in the lobby of London Hotel. No need for formal dress. Dont choose this restaurant for an special occasion. This is definitely a good option for Kitchen Nightmare! I hope to go to a nice Ramsey's restaurant in the future.
Maze overall was all right. Service was great however the food was overpriced for the quality. We ordered the salmon which was dry and the fried chicken sliders was all right. The highlight of the night was the octopus that was delicious.
I was so excited about taking my husband to eat at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant for his 40th birthday, just to have him taste the infamous beef wellington. Unfortunately, Maze took it off the menu. I was beyond disappointed as this is the only Ramsey restaurant in NYC, yet Ceasars in AC has it & it's AMAZING!!
We were very excited to dine at a restaurant with such a reputable name behind it. I was really looking forward to a fine dinning experience but wasn't too wow'd with the presentation. Overall the food was good but not as high end as I was expecting. Not sure chef Ramsey would have approved. Absolutely loved our grilled octopus.
I am a Certified Executive Chef, Certified Pastry Culinarian, and am an ACF ACE (approved certification evaluator). I expected the experience here to be excellent (especially with the Gordon Ramsay name). Unfortunately all I got was "good".
I ordered a gourmet meat/cheese platter for $34 and literally got lunch meat rolled into horns, a bowl of olives, and cheddar cheese cubes (not sure the fit there) and brie slices (which were nice). No real presentation though and NOT worth $34.
For an entree I ordered the "fish and chips".....again, thinking a Gordon Ramsay restaurant I would get something really special......the fries were clearly frozen out of a bag......very disappointing. The fish was good though and I liked the presentation in a skillet (different). The tartar sauce was also quite nice and flavorful.
My girlfriend's lamb t-bone was done nicely but I was less than impressed with the flavorless sweet potatoes (which were cut into a very nice brunoise though) and the (5) pieces of fanned pencil asparagus.
If you want a good meal, you will get one here, but you can save $100 and still get a "good" meal at Applebee's......I suggest saving your money as I was pretty bummed overall.
If contacted by this establishment I would be happy to provide more details, photographs, and of course my credentials.
My husband and I had the tasting menu and every bite was superb.
Dined here in may 2013 and had a great experience with the tasting menu. Came back in sep 2015 and decide to try the 4 courses tasting menu again. It sarted well with the soup that tasted good, but the following was quite disppointing, not bad but definitly not worth the price : very classical and absolutely no surprise in the tastes. I felt a bit cheated because this menu did not deserve the title " tasting menu" by Gordon Ramsay.
Simple but very delicious. Price is very reasonable as well!👍👍
I expected much much more given that famous chef attached his name to this place.
It looks old, forgotten and can be good only for quite conversation.
The food was good but the ambiance was kind of lame. We definitely weren't impressed. Who goes to a restaurant with thirty dollar entries that doesn't have table cloths. The menu was limited. Overall it was disappointing.
Have been to Maze many times, the menu is always changing providing many interesting dishes. Maze never disappoints-love the small plates.
I liked thenplace and the food. However, some of the menu dishes were not available. I wanted the t bone.
En el menú degustación había una ensalada sin ninguna gracia y sin estar al nivel de un restaurante así. El personal sin ninguna cuidado ni trato.
Not what you'd expect from a restaurant by Gordon Ramsay. If your looking for fine dining in New York then you need to look elsewhere than Maze. It was more like a diner than a Ramsay restaurant! Having said that, the staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. The food was good although the menu was limited - no starters or bread!!! Cocktails and wine list was adequate.
Overall a bit disappointing given that I'd booked and expected the usual Ramsay treatment for lunch...need to check more the next time that I book on line!!!!
Service was fast and very good. We had the 4 course meal and it was excellent.
Still one of the best for me. Portion size has improved and food is excellent.
just a bar with a very limited bar menu. Cannot believe Ramsay's name is attached to this tiny and terrible menu.
After experiencing the Beef Wellington at The Maze on our trip to NYC last year, we made it a point to dine again at The Maze during our trip this year. We were shocked that The London was no longer in existence and that The Maze had scaled their dining experience way back. Much to our dismay, the Beef Wellington was not on the menu! The Maze has become a place for cocktails serving small plates as appetizers. The food was still fantastic and our waiter was absolutely first-rate. Unfortunately, today's dining experience compared to The Maze of a year ago cannot compare. As Gordon Ramsay says on the TV show, "Master Chef", "what a shame".
Had higher expectations with Chef Ramsey. Good was amazing but the overall ambience need some attention. It's time for Chef to revisit this place n bring the life back.
Great location and great food. Perfect for lunch. I would recommend to anyone. Service was great!!!!
I went to the Maze back in December and it was great! I came back last week and it was the complete opposite. After we got our bottle of wine and water they forgot about us. A while later they took our food order and disappeared again. They never took my 15 year old sisters drink order who obviously couldn't drink wine. All of our food came out at different times. My sister was half done with her food by the time I got mine, amd we were both finished by the time my mom got her main course. We came here for vacation and out of all the restraunts we could have went to I chose this place because the previous few times I've came it was great. I don't know what happened this time, but I was very embarrassed bringing my family here. I complemented the maze and they made a fool out of me. I've gone to all of Gordan Ramsey restraunts in Vegas and the maze is by far the worse.
Service not so good. Everything else was excellent.
I am used to travel and test restaurants in different parts of the worlds and this one was the most upsetting one.
I know Gordon Ramsey as chef not only because TV but mainly the other restaurants he founded where I had great experiences in the past.
Maze has a low level service, small portions, a ridiculous list of wine and price is 90% based on brand and not quality.
I challenge everybody here to prove the quality is high and selection great, because it is not the case. Food was ok. We were four of us getting 4 different dishes: the mini steak fries, lamb T bone steak, NY burger, and shrimp plus scallops. Quality was ok, but so small plates that we had to stop in another restaurant to complete the dinner.
We waited over 30 minutes for our main course with restaurant was empty for 60% of capacity
Final bill was high also because we got overcharged for medium level bottle wine
We will not repeat
I was skeptical about some bad review during restaurant week, but had a wonderful experience. The wait staff worked effortlessly as a team making sure I had drinks and food in front of me. The food was spectacular, loved every bit of it. I will definitely return.
The service extremely slow! The food was mediocre at best. We were ignored and completely disappointed.
We were a party of 4 and we all agreed that this was a horrible dinig experience. At the end we felt that we had all wasted our time and our money.
The salmon was perfectly cooked but the rest was horrible !
- Watermelon gispatcho swimming in oil.
- Grapruit/beat salad with a minuscule amount of goat's cheese
- limp and flavorless vegetable side dishes
- the list goes on...
The wine was good but way overpriced compared to other restaurants for the types of bottles they serve.
The waiting staff tried their best but were clearly not sufficiently trained. The hostess gave us attitude for arriving a bit late (we got lost). I understand that this was or fault but the restaurant was empty (at 15% capacity) and remained so during our dinner.
The service was very long given that the restaurant was so empty ! Even getting the bill took forever.
Regarding the ambiance: there was none. The decor is a bit retro-chic but nothing special. The air condition was so cold.
It seems Gordon Ramsay should spend a bit of time getting his own Maze restaurant up to par.
Big fans of Gordon Ramsey but was disappointed with maze london NYC. We ordered the restaurant week menu - 3 course meal. Everything was a disaster from appetiser to main course. Elements of the salad just didn't come together and Chicken was dry and lacked flavour. Dessert was a saving grace. Wouldn't come back.
