   Rude manager sat at bar. Tasteless food you can go to nicer resturants for the price.

   Booked for lunch time, on arrival the waiter didn't have a clue we were booked in! After being shown to our table we were given the lunch menu which looked really good! However we were them told the meat man hadn't been so we couldn't have ham, steak, chicken!!! Which left us the options of soup or a cheese sandwich! When asked if he was just running late we were told they don't chase up the meat delivery!!! I wouldn't book this place again, if a lunch service is being offered then sufficient food should be on the premises ready for customers to order!

   We live locally, just up the road from the Log House and we would love The Log House to become a reliable, good place to eat and to take friends when they visit us. Our first visit was shortly after the new owners opened earlier this year and, although we did not have a great meal we were very happy to provide constructive feedback in order to help the new owners succeed in their new venture. We went again in September with friends who also live locally and we had a fairly good meal although the starters were better than the main courses and the lights kept dimming and then brightening! We returned for our third visit at the end of November and we felt genuinely disappointed. Firstly, because the flickering lights that we commented about when we visited the last time, were still dimming and then brightening.......it becomes very disconcerting after a while! Then two of the 4 of us chose the twice baked soufflé as a starter. It was flat and heavy, not a soufflé I would serve. After finishing out starters the waiter asked us if we had enjoyed our dessert. Jokingly, I reminded him that it was our starter and that we were looking forward to more! The main courses were very good and, unlike our first vist, the plates were warm and the food was hot. Everything else about the meal was good. No one else however asked us if everything was alright so, as we left, I quietly approached the two staff standing behind the bar on the way out. I asked why the lights were still dimming and brightening and was told that they have plans to have them sorted. When we told them that the lock in the mens toilet didn't work, we received an apology. We left, feeling dispointed that the staff just do not seem bothered enough to make this beautiful restaurant a success for all visitors, be that people visiting once when they are on holiday, or locals like us who would visit regularly. We just need it to be more reliable and consistent......please!

   Stayed at The Log House for two nights. Very friendly staff and the bedroom (2) was really comfy. We had a meal on a Tuesday night and there were plenty of customers. The menu was interesting and we both loved our starters and main courses (too full for sweets). This is a restaurant that stands out in Ambleside. Chris, our waiter, was excellent and most attentive. The chef came upstairs afterwards and spoke to all his customers! We believe he could be going places - good ones!

   We stayed here for one night and had a meal in the restaurant . Was amazing in every way . Food was fabulous and all the staff were great . Special mention to Chris who was very attentive from beginning to end and the loghouse are very lucky to have him . We will be returning in the future .

   We visited on a Saturday night aand sat at the back of the restaurant along with many other couples. Other people have mentioned the portion size but that's what sizes should be when you have 3 courses of good food. I started with perfectly cooked scallops with black pudding and samphire. Had a main of the pork and finished with panacotta. All of it was cooked perfectly and the flavours were fantastic. First visit but definitely not the last.

   Selected due to positive reviews. Clean and looked nice for evening meal when we arrived. Food pretty good but kedgeree starter cold on inside but they replaced for free and were apologetic. Noticed menu was not same as that outside on show which was a disappointment as I wanted 2 options that were then unavailable. Dessert pistachio brûlée was best ever. Staff tried hard to please but were busy and not relaxed enough. Restaurant was not full. Overall good and would go back.

    Well looked after by friendly team. Online menu and actual menu slightly different however options offered were good and food was definitely worth a try.
