We sat at the window and couldn’t stop looking out at the gorgeous view. We never tire of it. The food was tremendous—love the clam chowder. And, every time, our evening is made special by our wonderful waiter Michael. He’s so warm and professional.
Ambiance was great-nicely appointed dining area with pastoral and mountain views. Our dinners were delicious and desert scrumptious-service was terrific as well!
My husband and I had a New Year's eve dinner there. Lobster bisque was terrific. Our steaks were done to perfection and very tender. Service was friendly and efficient.
Christmas evening menu, waitress was unimpressive and didn’t want to be working and our waits were excessive.
We enjoyed Christmas dinner at the ranch this year. It was our first time dining there. The meal was outstanding with excellent service. We had a window table overlooking the lake and enjoyed a beautiful view of the mountains (when the clouds allowed). Saw a family of otters pop out of the water onto the frozen ice. And did some people watching as they were walking around on the trails. A huge firepit was lit outside the lodge and we enjoyed the view and fresh air by the fire for a few minutes before heading home.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Lodge restaurant. The setting is great. The service was good. I ordered the pork loin entre. When it first came it was hardly above room temp. While waiting for my order again my companion almost finished his meal - the turkey dinner which he said was good although it was warm but not hot. When my order came it was a new order which was nice rather than just microwaving the first order. This time it was warm although not hot. The vegetables were good but the pork loin was not. It was tough, over cooked, and dry. The fig stuffing in it was the only part that was edible and it was good.
I took the meat home, only had two small bites there, as it was far too expensive to not try to get something out of it. After slicing it thin and doctoring it up with quite a lot of others things I was able to at least eat it.
All in all a major disappointment. I've been there before with friends for drinks and it was great but if this is their usual standard for dinner I would never recommend it for a meal.
We live at BBR and have always loved The Lodge. It never fails to deliver excellent food, service, ambiance, and value. Tried and true! Even our boys (ages 7 and 10) love it there! Michael is the best waiter - and raises his own chickens!
Great as always. Excellent food. Beautiful setting. Warm and attentive service.
Excellent menu. The food was amazing! Great flavor on each of our dishes. High end dining at just above average prices. Worth the price! The help is very friendly and not at all stuffy! I have never been disappointed here. The flavors and combinations they put together are five star!
We love dining at the Black Butte Lodge Restaurant and try to go several times a year. The food, service and view are not excelled anywhere else.
We visit The Lodge nearly annually, and it never fails to leave us smiling. Michael is the best!
Booked through open table and requested a view, as it was our anniversary. We got the most beautiful table in the room, and Michael! Our waiter. He is perfection in a server. Charm, timing, follow-up, everything. It was a perfect evening out. The views from the lodge restaurant are spectacular. This is a great place for a romantic dinner or a nice family dinner.
Average at best. Service was ok - slow to bring drinks throughout. Ribeye special had too much going on with it. Steak was undercooked and a little cold. Appetizer was very good.
Our steaks were not done as requested. Mine was unfortunately fatty and gristly and not particularly good. Staff was good and the ambience is outstanding
The setting is spectacular. The wine list is very good especially for niche Oregan wines. The food is acceptable if you are up to the prices, but guests shouldn't come here looking for a bargain. This is as close as you get to fine dining in Central Oregon.
Our server, Michael, was terrific; he made the meal.
I took my 10 year old granddaughter for dinner at the Lodge for the last night of her stay at our home at Black Butte Ranch. We had a wonderful dinner. She had an adult dinner and loved it.
Michael is hands-down the best server in the world. He is friendly, funny, welcoming and a true professional in every way. Watching him with other tables one can see that he has a gift of making people feel like part of his family without being over the top. The food at the restaurant is always top notch, and the surroundings are breathtaking.
Attentive wait staff. Beautiful views. Good dessert options.
We always have a great time when eating at Black Butte Lodge. Michael makes us feel like family and treats us well. Enjoyed our birthday celebration.
Spent Fathers Day eve at lodge. They gave us the table I requested with wonderful view of river and mountains food and server were excellent. All in all a very nice evening
Our server, Ethan was friendly, helpful and attentive. Cinnamon roll was perfect! Omelette was small for the price and didn't have chorizo in it.
Great place for a special dinner. The ambiance and the view are spectacular, the service was great, the menu is limited but the food is wonderfully prepared.
We spent a great evening at the lodge. There seemed to be a lot of red meat options. Would have been nice to have a vegetarian pasta choice. We had the seafood which was delicious.
Often restaurants affiliated with resorts phone in the food and service, relying on the view and a captive clientele. The BBR Dining Room goes beyond meeting the ordinary expectations of those staying at the Ranch with creative, often locally-sourced dishes that are highly satisfying to diners with more rarified tastes. The Dining Room's competition is regional, extending into Bend and Redmond, and to many vacationing nearby. If these diners are going to make the drive to the Ranch, they'll do so for an experience, not just a meal. They won't go away disappointed.
My wife and I celebrated Mothers’ Day with a special dinner featured at the Black Butte Lodge Restaurant. Everything was superb. The menu was exceptional- a very interesting set of options that were executed flawlessly. The presentation was unusually good.
This was a special menu which is not what they usually serve. However, it demonstrated the capabilities of the chef. We hope they will do it again.
Service was outstanding.
My friend and I wanted a quiet, fun dinner where we could catch up with each other and have a yummy meal. The restaurant exceeded our expectations with an exceptional waitperson who was fun and cordial. We even ended up sharing a glass of wine with the folks at the table near us. The meal was excellent and the ambiance is the best!
Wonderful, quiet, relaxing evening with friends in a beautiful setting. Adrianne was a friendly, helpful and enthusiastic waitress. Always enjoy going there.
We had heard wonderful things about this place but were very disappointed. When we first walked in we were not sure where the restaurant was located. A young man came around the corner and asked us what we wanted. He seemed upset and distracted throughout the evening. The restaurant looked nice with low lights and candlelight however filled up quickly and became very noisy and busy. Our waiter was informative and did a good job, however it took an hour for us to get our dinner and then it wasn't that good.
Special Valentines Day menu was excellent. Superb rack of lamb and excellent tenderloin topped with 4 huge wild prawns that were a little chewy but tasted more like lobster than shrimp. Adrienne is a great waitress
Food was exceptional and creative, the service was excellent and low pressure our server accommodated our diet restrictions. The beautiful view of the mountains and lake topped it off.
We were three couples who rented a house over the New Years weekend. We made a reservation to enjoy the Lodge and have a wonderful meal, drink and bring in the New Year. The hospitality was very welcoming and our server was absolutely spot on. I'm sorry I can't remember his name but he was from El Paso, TX and made our dining experience one to remember!
We had brunch at the lodge restaurant on New Years Eve day, and it was fantastic! The food is amazing and Deanna took very good care of us. The menu options were thoughtfully planned, and above all, everyone was thoroughly pleased with their meal. Nice job, and thank you!
We very much enjoyed the view, food, service, and ambiance. Many of the categories above were left unchecked as I simply did not have experience with them (i.e. I don't drink alcohol, but I'm sure you have a lovely wine list). We live in Sisters and just recently 'discovered' the Lodge. You can be sure that we will return quite often. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Relaxing, delicious, excellent staff. Had a pre-arranged bouquet of flowers for some moms on a girls night out. Was an excellent, relaxing evening and all the staff was phenomenal.
Our waiter, Michael is incredibly knowledgable and friendly. Great prime rib social. The views are out of this world.
I have dined here at least a half dozen times and for the most part, enjoyed the experience. Not the case this time. In the past, the service has always been friendly, fast and very professional. When our server introduced herself, she was pleasant but not very enthusiastic. The first clue that things were not as they used to be came when our server told us about the one special of the evening. It was an appetizer?! Sorry, I've never been to a higher end restaurant before where the only special was an appetizer. Dates, wrapped in bacon and fried, no. We ordered drinks. Our server kept returning and announcing that our drinks were on the way. 25 mins. later they arrived. I should mention here that the restaurant was not very busy. Less than half of the table were occupied. My date ordered the Oregon rock fish and I the rib eye. The rock fish was excellent. I had asked that the steak be prepared medium. It was slightly less than rare. The cut was horrible. A tremendous amount of fat and sinew made more than half the steak impossible to eat. All this for $34. It will be a long time before we return, if ever.
Very overpriced. The food was bland and fairly flavorless. I was very sad we spent so much for a very disappointing meal. I should have realized when the dining room wasn't full on Saturday of Labor Day weekend that it wasn't worth it.
You come for the view and the friendly service. Entrees in the mid $30s should be outstanding and they definitely weren't. Even the bread was ho hum. The peach cobbler was downright awful with no seasonings and no topping. Meh to say the least.
Wonderful food and service. Beautiful veiw. The menu had lots to offer.
It was our 63rd wedding anniversary and decided a great place to celebrate it was at
Black Butte! Thanks for good weather, good food and good company!!
Wife's food was not cooked correctly (ordered medium rare, was raw and mostly still cool/cold). Reheat in obviously their microwave, only took 3 or 4 minutes, instead of continuing to grill was marginally not much better). My dish, elk, was cool when delivered (not even warm). For this caliber of restaurant, I expected both dishes to be removed at the complaint and represented after professionally proper preparation so we could enjoy our meal together. This was her 65th Birthday dinner.
Tastes were as expected
