The Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an intimate venue with two cozy dining rooms and a festive pub. In our main dining room, you'll find a roaring fire during the winter with wooden rafters and beautiful pine accents, floor to ceiling windows, overlooking endless pines with a spectacular ridgeline back drop. During the summer, you can dine and relax on our deck with stunning views of the golf course and the lush Sierra environment. Year round there is always excitement and camaraderie in our lively pub. We have a spectacular wine list as well as a manager's wine list with incredible deals. I decided this Thanksgiving I didn't want to spend all day cooking for just two of us. We made reservations for the buffet and were extremely pleased. The entree choices were turkey, ham and salmon. I passed on the ham, but the turkey and salmon were delicious. Many sides to choose from- mashed potatoes, yams, veggies, salad, and cranberry sauce. Three choices for dessert rounded out the meal. The Lodge is our neighborhood restaurant and we go there often. I would not hesitate to eat there for Thanksgiving again.
We have had Thanksgiving Dinner there for several years. Each year the quality and selection gets worse. This year it was a Buffet without at Beef choice. We left feeling let down. I can't tell you how we raved about the Thanksgiving Dinner there in 2008, 09 even 2013 was better - The buffet was horrid.
We enjoyed the setting, and the hostess and servers were all quite friendly. The ahi poke app was quite good, as was my short rib. So why such a mixed review? When we checked in, we were told our table was being readied... no problem, if we didn't overhear the hostess ask someone to start preparing our empty table several minutes later. When our friendly (first) waiter introduced himself, we asked for the Evening's Specials menu that we'd seen while waiting at the hostess stand; he said he'd deliver it "verbally" instead, and proceeded to speed though a memorized script that was much harder to follow... then an new waiter introduced himself and "took over". Very nice guy, who did a good job (aside from taking my half-drunk beer when I placed an order for a glass of wine to pair with my pending entree). We were also disappointed to get a check that was not adjusted for the 25% discount that was advertised for all apps and salads on Wild Wednesdays ("throughout the restaurant") - maybe they didn't really want us to see that indicated on the Evening's Specials menu?!? Overall - good setting and food wasted by poor management.
With a seasonal menu and specials that are updated regularly, The Lodge is our favorite Truckee restaurant. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to ensure you have an excellent dining experience.
We love the appetizers here, as there are many options and some are large enough to share or to have as a meal. Our particular favorites are the dumplings and the mac 'n' cheese. The surf 'n' turf sliders are delicious, as well.
The bar is a great place to hang out, watch a game, and have some expertly-crafted cocktails.
We are regulars at The Lodge, which is our favorite Truckee restaurant for its delicious food, excellent service, and warm, mountain charm. On this visit, we were dining with a good friend who also is a regular at The Lodge. There was a free beer tasting that was a great way to start a fun evening. Two in our party had burgers, cooked to different temperatures exactly as requested. The Lodge does an excellent burger, and the shoestring fries are addictive. I had the fish special, King salmon, served blackened with sticky rice and tempura-fried broccolini. This is the second time I've had this dish, and it is excellent. I love the blackening seasonings, which are rich and delicious without being overpowering.
That tempura-fried broccolini? That needs to be an appetizer on the menu. It's unbelievably good. I could eat a plate of that and be quite happy.
Service was as always perfect. I love that we always see the managers around, helping out, being part of the team. So many restaurants, you have no idea who's managing, but that is not true of The Lodge. Everyone works together to ensure guests have the best possible experience.
The Lodge is our go-to restaurant in Truckee for a number of reasons. There are other fine dining establishments in the downtown area, but The Lodge is worth the drive to Tahoe Donner resort. The menu changes seasonally and features fresh ingredients, locally sourced when possible, and reasonably priced. Specials change regularly, and include house-made pasta and seasonal fish/seafood. At this visit, the fish was Alaskan King Salmon served blackened with tempura fried broccolini and sticky rice. It was excellent. The blackened seasoning was flavorful and complementary to the fish, and the broccolini was crispy and delicious. Other favorites include the dumplings, mac 'n' cheese, and the salad specials.
Service is perfect here, and you often see the managers assisting and checking with customers to ensure an excellent experience. In winter, sitting by the fireplace after a day of skiing is wonderful; in summer, the views over the golf course from the deck are stunning.
The pub is a great place to hang out and have an expertly-crafted drink, a local brew, or a glass of wine. It's a warm, friendly environment, and the bartenders and servers make you feel welcome.
As regulars at The Lodge Restaurant, we always have a wonderful experience. The menu changes seasonally, and the specials are always worthwhile. In the winter, it's such a pleasure to sit by the fireplace and enjoy the mountain scenery. In the summer, there's an outdoor deck overlooking the golf course that has beautiful views. The bar is a fun place to hang out and have small plates or appetizers while socializing or watching the game. The bartenders and servers are wonderful, professional and friendly.
Be sure to save room for the desserts, especially when the doughnuts are available, they are worth every calorie.

Our favorites are the King salmon special (not always available), the mac 'n' cheese, and the dumpling appetizer. There are small plates as well as full dinners, so something for every appetite. The wine list is great, especially the manager specials. The dining room has beautiful views over the golf course, and fireplaces keep things cozy in the winter. The deck in summer is perfect for enjoying the fresh mountain air. The bar is a fun place to hang out, watch sports or people, and try the latest drink special.
The service is always impeccable here. The staff are friendly and professional, and they want you to have a good experience. The managers always seem to be out and about, actively involved in ensuring everything is wonderful. And it always is.
We're regulars at The Lodge, and we always have a wonderful experience. The menu changes seasonally, so we never get bored and have a chance to try new dishes. I often get the fish/seafood special, as the fish is so fresh. This evening, the special was King salmon, and it was delicious. Served with truffle whipped mashed potatoes and sauteed leeks, it was a wonderful meal.
Service is always friendly here. It's a rare dinner when the manager doesn't stop by to say hello and check in. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu, wines, and beers, and are always willing to answer questions.
With winter coming, The Lodge is a warm, cozy place to warm up fireside after a beautiful day in the mountains.
This was a busy holiday weekend and the restaurant was very crowded and noisier than usual. It didn't help that a wedding was going on right outside the window, which added to the noise. This is our favorite restaurant, but will avoid it on these busy weekends.
We are regulars at The Lodge Restaurant, but this was our first visit for brunch. We love The Lodge for lunch and dinner, and were pleased to find it just as wonderful for brunch. The brunch menu is limited, but seems to have something to satisfy most diners, and if the menu doesn't work, they offer their standard lunch menu as well.
My Eggs Benedict was perfect, with poached eggs, applewood smoked bacon, and a light and fluffy lemon Hollandaise on English muffins. My husband got the extravagantly large, fluffy, and delicious blueberry pancakes with bacon. Free mimosas were lovely!
Service is always wonderful at The Lodge, and despite this being a holiday weekend, we were served quickly and professionally.
We ate out on the deck, which is a wonderful spot in the summer and autumn, as it overlooks the beautiful golf course. This might have been our first brunch at The Lodge, but it definitely won't be our last.
Server Mike was outstanding. Disappointed, however that the bar didn't have proper wine glasses for the outstanding Pinot Noir we brought to,share. We ended up French rinsing the glasses we were given for the white wine we purchased. Also, staff seemed short handed so water glass refills had to be requested.
Great cocktail menu, love the variety. Starters are amazing, tuna poke, tempura green beans, spring rolls are all delicious. The halibut I had was perfectly cooked. My husband had the short ribs and want's to go back for more...... Service was a little bit slow but once they got to us it went smoothly. It was a busy night with multiple large parties!
We dine regularly at The Lodge and always have a wonderful experience. Delicious food, great service, and a beautiful setting all combine to make this one of our favorite spots. The menu changes seasonally and the last few meals, the specials have included these amazing heirloom tomatoes. I asked about the source, and the tomatoes are local. They are spectacular - if you love tomatoes, try the heirloom tomato/mozzarella/basil salad. Dressed with a tart and tangy balsamic vinaigrette, this appetizer is perfection on a plate. I had it with the Manila clam chowder as my dinner, and was quite pleased. The chowder, unlike many of its type, was not heavy or gloppy, but light, fresh, and full of clams, potatoes, leeks, and bacon. YUM.
My husband has several favorites: the pork-and-shrimp dumplings, the mac-n-cheese, and the beef burger, although when Alaskan or Canadian salmon is the special, we both jump at that, as the chef has perfected cooking it to medium-rare, just as it should be. I had it recently with grilled heirloom tomatoes...one of the best meals I've had.
Service is always wonderful here. The staff all want you to have a good time, and will go out of their way to assist you whenever they can.
The downside of The Lodge's evolution to a fine dining establishment is that you'll need a reservation on the weekend. You can dine in the cozy and fun bar, but on weekends, get there early.
We are regulars at The Lodge, which we love for its diverse cuisine and excellent service. The restaurant is a beautiful space; in the winter, the fireplaces are a lovely contrast to the snowy outdoors; in the summer, the outdoor deck is a wonderful place to view the golf course while dining.
The new menu changes bring some interesting choices to the menu, including a delicious entree salad filled with roasted seasonal vegetables, fresh greens, and a lovely complementary vinaigrette. This can be served with fish or chicken, although it's filling enough on its own. The pasta and fish specials change regularly and are always creative and interesting.
The bar is a fun place to hang out, have drinks, and even have lunch or dinner. The bartenders are skilled at creating interesting new drinks, which they showcase via a blackboard. Lots of TVs for watching sports, and a good place to meet friends.
Seems like revamping the menu seasonally has brought in many new customers. Be sure to get a reservation for the weekends, and if you're heading to the bar, get there early.
Service was off tonight.....will consider it a blip, as this is a favorite spot for us. Told that we'd have to wait for the appetizer & have salads first. No problem. Then the appetizer came first. Then salads came right after. Mains came before salads were finished. Not a usual experience at all, but so noted.
