The Lodge Restaurant & Pub
Had pastrami and sweet potato fires. YUM! The macaroni and cheese was excellent as usual. There were so many selections....all well thought out...that is was hard to choose.
Great staff and good food.
Surprised at how busy it was for a Tuesday night. We were seated within 5 min of our reservation time. Staff was very shorthanded and we waited for water and drink order as well as placing our dinner order. Food was served quite promptly, but we had an extended wait for desert menus and water refills. Our waitress was absolutely delightful, and had it not been for her this review would have been significantly lower. This was not our usual experience at the Lodge- but we will still be back.
Always consistent with the food and service! Chef Lou and the entire staff is first class!
We had a fabulous dinner here! The dishes were delightful, the service impeccable, and the Manager, Peter, was warm and welcoming! We love The Lodge at Tahoe Donner. It NEVER disappoints.
We enjoyed a cozy & yummy Schnitzel Sunday with great service!
Lovely meal and service was quite good. There was an event happening in a tent outside the window, and the loud music made it hard to enjoy the experience.
We were placed nat a table adjacent to the entrance to the eating area. We had a reservation. The table was less than desirable due to noise and service station for the area.
Food quality and menu options very good. Meatloaf is especially enticing! They have a unique corsage fee policy, where you are not charged for the bottle you bring if you purchase a bottle from their wine list. Wine list is good, but look for value wines. They usually have a couple of nice wines at a good price. Overall, a nice dining experience that is worth the money.
Very pleasant. Food was creative and delicious.
We love The Lodge Restaurant & Pub. It's got that true mountain vibe and coming here is like going to a friend's house for dinner, if that friend were an excellent chef. Staff are so welcoming and friendly, and service is always perfect. The menu changes seasonally, as do the specials. Food is always fresh, and we've never had a disappointing meal or experience here. In the winter, the fireplaces are inviting and cozy. In the summer, the outdoor deck has beautiful views of the surrounding golf course. And the pub is the place to people-watch and be seen. A wonderful local restaurant!
We've been coming here for years and unfortunately the food and service has been going down hill. It is truly unfortunate since this was our go to in Truckee and at one time was excellent. The wait staff was shorthanded and extremely over worked to the point of being curt and border line rude but the reason for that is they were running around. Much confusion transpired including trying to be served someone else's food before we had even ordered with menus in our hands. 15 minute wait, with a line out the door to even check in for our reservation, no host. The servers were doing that as well. The food went from good to cold. My special was cold, another who had the salmon really liked it and the other in our party had the burger. At this time I could not recommend going to the The Lodge until they make some changes.
The fish in the fish taco was awful
I could not eat it
Wonderful experience, food was delicious and service was exceptional! Thank you!
Their October special of chicken schnitzel and warm German potato salad was amazing. The chef outdid himself again!4
One of our favorite restaurants in the Truckee area. Peter and the staff always make us feel as if this is our restaurant. Lots of choices of areas for seating and parking is good. What more could one ask for.
The Lodge Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in Truckee. The menu changes seasonally, and includes everything from appetizers to small plates to full dinners. The food is expertly prepared and delicious, and service is stellar. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and professional. There's a bar for a more casual experience, and the dining room is broken into several rooms that give you a cozy, mountain-comfort vibe. In warm weather there is a deck overlooking the adjacent golf course that has beautiful views.
This visit came just after the menu had changed and I found a new favorite: the butternut squash appetizer. Consisting of two ravioli with browned butter and candied pecans, and a small cup of butternut-apple soup, this was a delight. If the chef would add two more ravioli, this dish would work as a light dinner. There are a number of new items on the menu so now I need to return to try them all.
If you save room for dessert, the donuts are worth the calories. These are nice-sized donut holes, and are accompanied by dipping sauces (usually lemon curd and strawberries). Hot from the fryer, oh heavens, what a treat.
Birthday dinner was a lovely experience. Grilled octopus was *delicious* — and so was the squash soup. For a main dish I had a huge piece of salmon and truffled mashed potatoes. Every bite was wonderful. The server brought us an amazing pumpkin cheesecake for dessert— complimentary. Just an extremely nice dining experience!
Chris was a great and attentive, as our server!
Everyone was happy with their meal and the service.
As usual, the Lodge at Tahoe Donner does not disappoint. We’ll be back soon.
Nice dinner on a Monday night. Seated right away and served water upon sitting down and offered bar beverages. Learned of specials right away and order was taken in timely manner. Waited a bit for some warm french bread and butter. Waters were refilled frequently. Wait staff was quite friendly. Will be back. Only real negative was the giant tent in front of the window blocking what could have been a gorgeous sunset.
The food was excellent as always, unfortunately our view was of the tent and the noise level was quite high. Otherwise it would be five stars.
Excellent, as always. The clam chowder was out this world. The best Reuben ever (please keep it as a regular on the menu), and the sweet potato fries are to die for.
There was a wedding reception below the dining room and the music was not compatible with fine dining.
We were originally seated on the porch and two large parties made it very load. Before we ordered we asked to be moved to the dining room and the noise level was much better.
Outstanding in every way as usual!!! Love the Lodge!! Will return again!
Quite dining in pleasant golf course setting. Salads excellent. I always order the braised short rib, but this time it was over cooked and dry. Still, would go back.
We had a great early dinner in a comfortable setting. We were pleased to have a view table except our view was mainly of a white tent. The other guests were quiet enough. The food was incredible, including the trout appetizer. My wife's halibut was firm and cooked in a uniquely delicious sauce with a great presentation. My bolognese pasta had a different taste while being authentically Italian. Our waiter and server were both gentlemen. The wines, particularly the European labels, were outstanding. The prices were a little high, but given that it was Truckee, it was what we expected so no criticism there. Hats off to your chef.
We were so pleasantly surprised at how great the food was. The staff was very welcoming and happy to please. This is a jewel for sure and the menu has a little bit of a twist with many options to cover everyone's favorites. Even a wonderful spicy Thai noodle bowl. Very fresh farm to table food.
Look we like the lodge, but unfortunately the wasps made it impossible to site outside on the deck and so the option was to sit in the dining room and look on the big white event tent. Not a good ambiance. At almost $100 for a burger, kids pasta and essentially a fish burrito it seemed rather over-priced. The fish burrito was not great. Could use an update on that menu item.
We always have a fabulous time there. The food is amazing, setting beautiful, and service impeccable.
We went at their busiest time.......middle of Labor Day Weekend. The service was quite good, but we felt a bit rushed. I had the clam chowder and it was definitely hand made, very delicious. My dining partners had the Poke which was tasty and it came with noodles which tasted like they had not been cooked. Someone had the calamari and another had the chopped salad. Overall, considering the other choices in Truckee, I'd say The Lodge is a great place for dinner and drinks. Yes, we would go back.
Always a great meal at Tue Lodge...Chef Lou’s meals are always consistently good and the service is excellent👍 Thanks to Peter and Jeff for their hospitality too🍷😄
Excellent as always. The pan roasted chicken thighs dish was outstanding. Service was attentive and thoughtful as always.
Food, service & atmosphere were outstanding!
Great place for a nice, quit dinner overlooking the golf course or inside. The food was very good. Scallops were cooked perfectly and the veggies were excellent. Pot Sticker appetizer was excellent as well. Great service to top it off.
Very nice way to spend an evening
Great outdoor seating. They have a cool green program for bringing your own to-go container.
What a terrific experience! All four meals — halibut, halibut tacos, chicken, pasta, were fantastic! Cooked perfectly, presented beautifully. Even my dessert (shared) was amazing — three small ice cream scoops with drips of different sauces plus a cookie. The setting inside and out was lovely. Staff was quite accommodating regarding our seating. Due to a high priced meal w/low quality I had earlier in the week at a longtime and usually reliable Truckee restaurant, I wasn’t sure eating at the Lodge would be worthwhile ... but it was a wonderful dining experience all around.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Great place for dining in Truckee! Outdoor seating during the summer months is one of the best in the area.
