We are now taking reservations for our holiday dinners!
Our first offering will be our traditional Thanksgiving buffet on Thursday, November 28, 2019.
Also, remember to book your seats for our Christmas Eve buffet, immediately following the Annual Torchlight Parade. And, as always, we will be happy to host your family for our Christmas night buffet.
Holiday dinners will be rounded out with our 5 course, New Year's Eve dinner. The cost is only $125.00 per person (no child's pricing) and includes your Gondola ride and a complimentary, after-dinner glass of Prosecco .This event will be limited to 125 guests, so book early.
We loved our experience at The Lodge at Sunspot. It was really special to go up the mountain and watch the sunset. The lodge was beautiful and food was amazing. Our service was great. Shoutout to Frank who was awesome! I definitely recommend going to dinner here one night. Definitely worth it.
Can not say enough good things, food and service were great and Annie's wine suggestion was spot on. It really complimented the meal. We will be back I am sure.
Frank was a terrific server.
Our wine was not served until we had completed our main course. The prime rib was tough. We asked for medium and medium rare - both steaks were served medium rare. Our waiter appeared disengaged.
Kids options are very limited. The food was not good quality and way overpriced. You are paying a lot for the view. My suggestion would be to go at lunch when the prices are more affordable and the menu is better!
We were very excited to go to The sunspot for dinner. We were a party of 5 and made the reservation more then a month in advance. When we arrived we were seated promptly. But we were seated in the front of the restaurant and no where near the windows with the beautiful view. Also, there were plenty of tables available near the windows that were not seated through out the night. I know this because we were the last party out the door. Or waiter Sam was good and attentive. We ordered from a fixed choice menu. Which was fine but we had a person in our party who is dairy intolerant. Desert that evening was cheesecake. When she inquired about a different choice he said “I may be able to find you some fruit” he then brought her a cereal bowl filled with random raspberries. The food was good as well as the atmosphere. Being seated by the windows would have been nice and some non dairy choices.
Worth it for the gondola & the view. Food was good, not spectacular. Service not great from our server, but the rest of the staff helped him so not bad either.
I felt it was overpriced for what you get. Dessert was a choice of one cheesecake or another cheesecake, so if you didn’t like cheesecake you lost out on a course. I felt it was inconsiderate and poor menu planning to assume everyone likes cheesecake. We had cookies back at the condo.
The view was great! The gondoloa ride up to the top at night was quiet an experience. The trout and rib eye were a hit. The chicken was mediocre.
Unfortunately, we do not remember our servers name and we so wish we did. Kudos to her. My husband was injured skiing earlier that day & did not feel well but insisted we keep our reservation. She was so accomodating and empathetic. She brought him ginger ale & bitters for the nausia. Knowing he would not be able to enjoy or even eat the meal she brought him soup & salad as his courses to compliment mine. Packed up one of each dessert for us to take with us encase he may be able to enjoy later. May not sound like much but it really made a difference.
Food Choices very limited, no steak just buffalo
It was too snowy to enjoy the view
$70 a person
Kids around $45
5 people are dinner for $450 🤦🏻♀️
Overall meal was sub-par, most of my party was disappointed. The Steelhead Trout dish was a little dry. The Lamb dish was better but had much better at other restaurants. Also very disappointed with seating location despite making reservation several weeks in advance.
Food and view was amazing! Our server was a sweetheart and very attentive.
It was awesome. Excellent food and service in an amazing place with spectacular views
The view is incredible but doesn’t make up for the price or lack of menu options. There is no buffet as OpenTable states and honestly, the food was not worth the $60-$70 per person price tag. They charge $40 for kids even if you get a kids meal like chicken fingers. The explanation for the price is that it includes your gondola ticket (normally $29) and being a season pass holder doesn’t get that “value” credited. Do yourself a favor if you are season pass holder and go up for apré ski. If you aren’t a season pass holder, just buy the gondola lift ticket and do the same. Again, beautiful but not one bit worth the price.
If you’re going for dinner- there are only a handful of 3 course options for either $60 or $70. They told us they had a kids meal of chicken fingers and fries- which turned to be a $40 kids plate. For lunch- they have many other options- but I would not recommend this place for dinner- not worth the value. The place was not crowded and the food was served cold. If you try to split something- they will charge you an additional $40 for the gondola ride.
Overpriced menu but you’re paying for the location. Big mixup on the kids menu - we apparently were handed a lunch menu where kids meals were $11 but when we got the check we were charged $40. Wow. Had to discuss quite a bit with the manager but he ended up making it right and deleting the excess charges. Beautiful location - go before the sun sets for sure
It was a beautiful dinner experience, however we wished we were able to take the gondola up earlier for better pictures. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was a big disappointment for such a a lovely location and experience. There should have been ample time to clean the bathrooms between day lifts and 7pm.
You’re on vacation so do it and don’t cry about the cost. It’s an experience. Food is unique and very good. Service is impeccable. Views are unbelievable.
The views were spectacular. The gondola ride was so fun and amazing. The menu was small but very tasty. I had the lobster bisque and prime rib. Delicious.
Incredible views and food to match! The Gondola ride was an added bonus!
The view after dark is special, with views of snow cats at work and Fraser and the village below.
Food was subpar. Really just paying for experience.
Had 6:30 reservations on a Thursday night. It was nice to take the gondola up at night, but there was no view from our table other than the machine grooming the slopes. We had the beef, surf and turf, elk, and bison. Elk was the favorite.
Our bottle of cakebread Chardonnay arrived but was not cold. Bread arrived with the salad/soup after reminding our waiter. For a $500+ meal, the service was laughable. These guys need to take lessons from waiters in New Orleans. We had to pour our own wine and waited waaaaayyy too long in between courses.
The dessert - cheesecake- was a big disappointment. We would not recommend this experience for the money.
This restaurant has potential and failed.
Our entire ski group had dinner here to watch the sunset after skiing. It was snowing and foggy so we didn’t get the view, but the food was fantastic—beyond our expectations—and there are several foodies in our group. Between the 8 of us we had everything on the menu, and everyone raved about their meal. The foo-foo drinks were a little too sweet for our taste, but overall it was a wonderful evening to wrap up our trip. The service was excellent, as was the atmosphere, but it can be rather toasty on the outside wall as you’re next to the radiator (wear layers)! I heartily recommend this experience if you’re looking for a romantic evening or just a really memorable evening with your friends. Enjoy!
Terrific in every way! We’ll be back again next time we visit WP!
We couldn't see the sunset due to clouds and snow BUT everything else was AWESOME! I loved the Colorado Lamb and my wife enjoyed her chicken dish. Desserts [included] were also delicious. Ambiance and service were also excellent and we got to see some snowcat groomers at work. Afterwards, we were above the clouds and we saw the most stars we had ever seen on our way back to the Gondola.
Taking the gondola up to Sunspot and back down again in the dark was a neat experience. However not all of the tables inside are near the view or in the low light ambiance. Our table was in a brighter area away from the windows. The food was pretty mild but our service was great.
beautiful view from the top of the Winter Park ski area. I'll return when I have a special event to celebrate
5th time at this dinner and it was by far the worst experience. Service was poor and the whole table’s food came out cold. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this dinner, but our previous 4 experiences were great.
The whole experience of riding The Gondola up and down in the dark was awesome. Lobster bisque was outstanding. Lamb and Elk entrees were perfectly cooked. Our waiter, Steve Olsen was great. We will come back again, one time each year.
The service was excellent! The ambiance and food was fabulous.
The waiter was not all there as he said he had worked 12 hours that day. The food was very good but way too much for one person. We enjoyed the dinner experience.
The ambiance was wonderful, to include the breathtaking gondola ride to the top and back. The service was very mediocre, as well as the food. The prices were very steep and I would have expected better food and better service for as much as they were charging. Overall it was a fun experience, but we likely wouldn't return.
Beautiful dinner and delicious food. We made the mistake of bringing children. I would not recommend that. Better for adults and couples. The prix fixes was the only option but everything was delicious. The vinaigrette on the salad was amazing.
This is a wonderful experience for my family. How fun to ride up the mountain at night and eat a nice quiet meal. The only thing that I would recommend is for their to be at least one or two other options for children.
The dining room setup was not positioned very well. Our 4 top table was less than 18" from the 8 top next to us. The server (Steve) kept bumping into my wife's chair every time he served at the end of the other table.
We moved our table several times to finally provide the space needed to allow the server to do his job, and to allow us to enjoy our meal without being bumped.
The manager should've realized the setup wasn't adequate prior to seating.
I almost didn't book the reservation because of other negative posts. I'm so glad we still went to dinner because we had a wonderful time. The pictures we took at the top of mountain at sunset were beautiful.
The food is expensive but that pays for the gondola trip, wait staff, chefs, etc. Our food choices of bison rib-eye, elk tenderloin, rainbow trout, lobster bisque, and flour-less chocolate cake were wonderful. The waiter went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our selections and he also made sure the kids were happy with their dinner as well. This is our 3rd dinner in the past 6 years of going to Winter Park and we will be sure to book it again in the future.
Despite giving the restaurant over 30 days notice ofmy wife’s allergies, no allowance was made to accommodate her needs.
The Winter Park website still advised on Valentine’s Day that details of the dinner would be coming soon. I do not think that details ever appeared? What did materialise was that all the girls received a rose bud.
A large number of the serving staff appeared to do little except chat amongst themselves resulting in slow service.
The server remained inattentive throughout the meal, and was slow in delivering the entree, resulting in the food being cold and sent back to the kitchen.
As a result of the poor performance the manager reduced the bill, but that is not the point. A special dinner such as Valentines Day should be seamless. Suns top really do need to try harder. We will NOT eat there on our next visit to Winter Park.
Go if you can. The food and the service were exceptional.
