The Local House Ratings and Reviews
The staff were very nice hospitable, especially with helping a reasonable spot to change my baby. I wish they had a baby changing table in one of the bathrooms, but they were at least helpful and kind about it. The value the food was definitely overpriced. The seafood was very delicious but the sides were not up to my expectations.
The ambiance of this was simply amazing. The staff were polite and cordial and even the food was amazing. The only real problem with the place was their pricing. I ordered their fish from their menu because that is what they are known for. My dish alone was about $40 but I was okay with that because I assumed that it was going to be filling. When my meal came out I had a very thin, almost transparent fillet of fish with like 10 fries stacked up to make things look bigger. I understand that due to the location of the place why there prices have to be so high but due to this very fact, Local House is a "one and done" for me. But you should totally go and try it for yourself. I think that everyone should go to this place at least once.
Food and service were impeccable. Lovely dining room with peaceful ambience. Cocktails were creative and scrumptious (I LOVED "down the rabbit hole"); salads were meticulously prepared and (Greek and tuna) savory; tempura appetizer was light, crispy and flavorful; and shortrib burger was great. The shrimp risotto was flavorful but a bit skimpy on the shrimp. Warm and friendly staff.
This place is underrated in terms of food quality and service. Great breakfast. Crab cake Benedict should not be missed. The service is good too! They were really busy on the morning we visited and still our coffee cups and tea were refilled and our server was very nice and did not rush us. This is my favorite breakfast spot! So cute! Love the outdoor seating!
We went to the Local House for the first time this year on our first night in Miami. In the past we have really enjoy it but this time we were very disappointed. The food was marginal at best and the drinks were just okay. The wait staff was as we remembered it top notch. They were very attentive and very sweet. I'm not sure if we'll go back. It is a good place to sit outside for a glass of wine. Perhaps they were having a bad night with their food so hopefully it will be good again.
Great setting, more classic than some of the "South Beach" party spots. Loved the ambiance and Alex the bartender was fantastic. He made some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Was there for lunch at the bar and enjoyed a salad with grilled shrimp. It was fresh and yummy.
A group of 4 of us came to have our NYE Dinner, from the moment we arrived the host was friendly and welcoming and as soon as we walked in Eric (bar tender) and Natalie ( waitress) received us as if they already knew us, we felt right at home!
Thank you for making our dinning experience unforgettable and will most definetly recommend this place to all my friends!
Service was off, waited 30 min for our first cocktail, the dinner was delivered 7 minutes after ordering, and one dish was a risotto that takes longer than that to make, so clearly the kitchen pre makes everything and it sits. Not ok given the price point. Wouldn't go again - too many other exceptional places in the same price point.
Although a bit hesitant to eat at a restaurant South of Fifth during Miami Art Week, I ventured out to this place on the recommendation of my Realtor. The restaurant did not disappoint. Although a tad quaint inside, the service was impeccable. Prior to arrival, I requested an outside table, but the winds were too high to enjoy it, so they moved us inside upon request before our drinks were ordered. The food was spectacular and really felt like the chefs cared about what they were creating. I would highly recommend this place for anyone solo, on a date, or with a small group. It was a tad pricey, but worth it.
Average service and below average drinks. Cocktails were wattery and sour - neither my wife nor I enjoyed them. Server was unable to tell us what the house liquor was in the cocktails, nor was he able to tell us what type of oysters were included in the seafood platter. Asked for aioli and was brought mayonnaise. "Tempura" platter was basically soggy vegetables soaked in oil. We did not eat them. We would not return or recommend to others.
This place was good but it left me wanting more. I believe the brunch would be the best choice since all the reviews were pretty much for that. My dear friend and I had lunch and both of us were satisfied but were not blown away.
The decor is cute. You feel like you are in a living room.
Very good food on a nice part of Ocean Dr. Nice bar inside and good ambiance. We sat outside and besides an occasional obnoxiously loud car/motorcycle, it was very nice. Wait staff was great and knowledgable. Food was moderately priced and falls somewhere between good and great on the scale of deliciousness. Price was on point, put may factor in more of location than how great it is! Definitely worth a try!
We had dinner at The Local House based on reviews I had read on Yelp. Nice decor, nice location at 400 Ocean Drive. Calamari appeizer was just okay because it was of the "rings" type, not the kind we get in better restaurants. My burger was excellent, though, with avocado, tomato, cheese, and lettuce, anf the fries were tasty.
We are not fans of the electronic music so prevalent at the South Beach scene, although it was not too distracting.
I have been to Local House twice, once when I was in Miami a year ago, and the second time was last week. Both times the food, cocktails and service were excellent. The ambience is quite lovely--beachy but sophisticated. Leagues above the noisy, more touristy restaurants further north in SOBE.
This is a delightful little place. The penne Bolognese was perfectly al dente, with a nice sauce; unfortunately it was served in a cold bowl so it got cold quickly. The branzino was very nicely sauteed, with excellent potatoes as a side dish. A few decent wines at modest to moderate prices.
I stayed for two weeks in the SoFi area of Miami and walked by Local House nearly every day. I went there both for brunch and dinner and sat outside for both. Service at Bruno wasn't as efficient at dinner, but the staff was so pleasant and accommodating it wasn't an issue. Great at night with all the candles and lounge chairs. I'd definitely go back. Menu has a nice variety of options but doesn't go overboard with too much.
We go to Miami over the New Years holiday every year. Local House is always on the agenda. This year we had a slightly larger party than in the past. They were able to accommodate our strong desire to sit on the porch by moving around a few tables. As always the staff was friendly and the food was fantastic.
I highly recommend Local House if you are looking for somewhere to eat outside, close to the action on the street but not IN the street.
We are from Montreal and we were only gonna be in miami beach for one day and we wanted to find the very best and i think we did. I am a simple man and i dont know much about food but my girlfriend is much fancier and we were both impress by the local house.
My burger was simply one of the best ive eaten in year and ive recently judged a burger contest in montreal within the top 3 contestant for the burger week and the local house would have been miles ahead of them in the competition.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and for every ocasion.
Booked a party of 8 a month in advance for a birthday celebration. Arrived early to find the "anti-hostess" planned on seating us at two low coffee tables instead of an actual table. When we requested something more suitable for dinner she informed us it would be 45min wait.. Eventually we were seated at a dark table (the only light source was broken sconce). The server seemed to be in a non-ordinary state of consciousness- forgot half our order and practically tossed our plates on the table. The food was actually decent, however, the rude hostess, scatter brained waiter, and loud-dark atmosphere eclipsed the event. We all decided to laugh it off as a classic sub-par south beach experience.
Local House is a short walk from our apartment and this is a significant attraction and will bring us back. I had mussels, which were generally excellent, but two were a bit off. Not enough to complain or ruin my meal, but distasteful and the reason for 3 stars rather than 4 or 5. Like so much of SoFi, the price of meals is not quite justified by the quality. This is a really nice little restaurant and I would love to see the quality of the food increase to match the price, or the price drop some so my expectation reduces equivalently. I would love to rank The Local House as a neighborhood gem.
