We enjoyed dinner with friends here at the Local. Cocktails were delicious and food was excellent too. Server was sweet but could have checked in on us more. We went without water for a bit of time and wanted to order another cocktail and almost didn't because she was absent for quite some time. Not sure if by design or short staffed? Not a deal breaker, just something to improve on. Overall, enjoyable evening at The Local! Get the Tater tots and Margatini! Yum!
I get the feeling this place takes advantage of its proximity to the unabashed wealth of the Bridgewater. The food is decently good, but not knock-your-socks-off. Tasty, but definitely overblown as for descriptions and expectations. Portion sizes are extremely small, as well. They add unique touches to dishes (chile relish on my burger, for example), but they just don't stand out enough to convince me they're sincere and nothing more than fluff to try to legitimize the prices.
I had the Old Smokey burger which, at $13, was a cross between a standard burger and a slider, in size. I've had MUCH better at Five Guys or Red Robin, by far. They say it was aged beef, but I've had that before, and there was nothing special about this. I added cajun seasoning to my fries for $0.75, but barely noticed it.
My wife (who eats like a bird) had the $12 Caprese Panini, and was hungry again within an hour. Again, had MUCH better at McAlister's, Paradise, or any similar cafe.
When we got the check, we're pretty sure we were overcharged by about a dollar. We mentioned it, and were asked rather cynically if we'd like to have a dollar back. Shouldn't it have been straight-up offered, rather than asked in such a way? We just left and won't be back. Not absolutely awful, but... not memorable in any good way.
We've visited The Local several times over the past year and have never been disappointed in the service or the food. They have a restaurant side and a separate bar but both sides of the place serve the same menu. As the name implies The Local sources as much of their menu from local farms and suppliers as they can. Their menu items from their salads to their steaks are well prepared and, for me, always taste great. The waits on Friday and Saturday night can be quite long so I suggest making a reservation rather than trying to simply walk in.
Another great meal at the local. Mushroom burger and Chicken wrap with fries were both Excellent. Isaac our server was wonderful too. Very attentive and friendly. Thank you. We will be back.
We dined for a casual family dinner with our 2 year old for my husband's birthday. Mia was a wonderful server! Attentive but not overbearing. Food was delicious per usual. Our daughter made a little mess on the table but we felt comfortable in this family friendly atmosphere. food arrived promptly and hot. The Local continues to be one of our favorite spots!
I live in the neighborhood. We have been to the Local many times.
The service and food has always been top notch.
Have eaten here many times, and they always have new and interesting selections on the menu. Recently, we've really enjoyed the smelt appetizer. And I enjoyed the grouper entree, while my wife liked her quinoa burger. The only item the Local is lacking, in my opinion, is their desserts. Their crumbles are just average, as are the beignets. But the rest of the menu is very good, so we will keep going back.
Love the food but the high ceilings make it noisy.
The wait staff was great, but the cooks were VERY unprepared for the new menu. It took an hour to get our meals and we did not have an appetizer. Our server brought us a complimentary dessert as an apology, and she was very open about the problem. Food was great and we will go back because we have not experienced this in the past at The Local. Too bad that this time was a partial bust.
We come here quite a bit and have for years. I would def recommend for local cuisine with a great twist. Great for foodies and fresh ingredients
