We enjoyed dinner with friends here at the Local. Cocktails were delicious and food was excellent too. Server was sweet but could have checked in on us more. We went without water for a bit of time and wanted to order another cocktail and almost didn't because she was absent for quite some time. Not sure if by design or short staffed? Not a deal breaker, just something to improve on. Overall, enjoyable evening at The Local! Get the Tater tots and Margatini! Yum!
I get the feeling this place takes advantage of its proximity to the unabashed wealth of the Bridgewater. The food is decently good, but not knock-your-socks-off. Tasty, but definitely overblown as for descriptions and expectations. Portion sizes are extremely small, as well. They add unique touches to dishes (chile relish on my burger, for example), but they just don't stand out enough to convince me they're sincere and nothing more than fluff to try to legitimize the prices.
I had the Old Smokey burger which, at $13, was a cross between a standard burger and a slider, in size. I've had MUCH better at Five Guys or Red Robin, by far. They say it was aged beef, but I've had that before, and there was nothing special about this. I added cajun seasoning to my fries for $0.75, but barely noticed it.
My wife (who eats like a bird) had the $12 Caprese Panini, and was hungry again within an hour. Again, had MUCH better at McAlister's, Paradise, or any similar cafe.
When we got the check, we're pretty sure we were overcharged by about a dollar. We mentioned it, and were asked rather cynically if we'd like to have a dollar back. Shouldn't it have been straight-up offered, rather than asked in such a way? We just left and won't be back. Not absolutely awful, but... not memorable in any good way.
We've visited The Local several times over the past year and have never been disappointed in the service or the food. They have a restaurant side and a separate bar but both sides of the place serve the same menu. As the name implies The Local sources as much of their menu from local farms and suppliers as they can. Their menu items from their salads to their steaks are well prepared and, for me, always taste great. The waits on Friday and Saturday night can be quite long so I suggest making a reservation rather than trying to simply walk in.
Another great meal at the local. Mushroom burger and Chicken wrap with fries were both Excellent. Isaac our server was wonderful too. Very attentive and friendly. Thank you. We will be back.
We dined for a casual family dinner with our 2 year old for my husband's birthday. Mia was a wonderful server! Attentive but not overbearing. Food was delicious per usual. Our daughter made a little mess on the table but we felt comfortable in this family friendly atmosphere. food arrived promptly and hot. The Local continues to be one of our favorite spots!
I live in the neighborhood. We have been to the Local many times.
The service and food has always been top notch.
Have eaten here many times, and they always have new and interesting selections on the menu. Recently, we've really enjoyed the smelt appetizer. And I enjoyed the grouper entree, while my wife liked her quinoa burger. The only item the Local is lacking, in my opinion, is their desserts. Their crumbles are just average, as are the beignets. But the rest of the menu is very good, so we will keep going back.
Love the food but the high ceilings make it noisy.
The wait staff was great, but the cooks were VERY unprepared for the new menu. It took an hour to get our meals and we did not have an appetizer. Our server brought us a complimentary dessert as an apology, and she was very open about the problem. Food was great and we will go back because we have not experienced this in the past at The Local. Too bad that this time was a partial bust.
We come here quite a bit and have for years. I would def recommend for local cuisine with a great twist. Great for foodies and fresh ingredients
We had a group of 8 - very good service that was prompt to our needs. Everyone talked positively about what they selected. Some had burgers, other salads. We chose The Local because of the wide variety of desired foods - from vegetarian to "give me meat".
We were very happy with our dinner. The hummas platter was amazing and enough for dinner for the two of us!
I love The Local, it's my favorite place to take friends from out of town. The emphasis on local ingredients is fantastic and the food is always high quality. I love the specialty cocktails!
Excellent all the way around. I came in from out of town, and took my (new to area) son to dinner there. I will go back to the Local when I make a return visit.
Have eaten here many times, and the ever-changing menu always has lots of tasty and interesting choices, most of them from local sources. Service is always friendly. Good parking. And it takes reservations, which is a plus. About the only negative would be the acoustics; it can get pretty noisy. But don't let that scare you off.
The tenderloin was good . Atmosphere was lacking. So many better options out there. Doubt I will be back, nothing special.
Service was off again. No detail to order deliver or requests for items to go with meal. Then things as small as mayo in the side took 5 min! Food got cold and others were 1/2 done. Did not see a manager tonight on the floor or front desk. Eat here a lot as food and selection are good BUT staff is ok at best.
Matt, our waiter was awesome. He made us feel comfortable and got us anything we asked for with a smile. It was my first time there and will return. Food was awesome.
Just moved in the Carmel area and stumbled up this place. It IS loud like others have said, but I think that adds to the fun. They were out of Pinot Nior which was disappointing to me and the table next to us. BUT the food VERY good! We had the pulled pork sandwich and a hamburger - both excellent and recommended. I love that they source from farms in Indiana. Will return!
We found the interior seating way too noisy so we sat at a table on the patio which was nice. Food is very good as is the service. Menu selections are a little limited but always something different to try.
After moving to Fishers from southern Indiana a few years ago, a friend highly recommended The Local, raving about the well-planned, ever-changing menu. The kids and I were looking for a new "Mother's Day" location and tried it out right away. We fell in love; a family of half meat-eaters and half-vegetarians, our palates were all satisfied. Service is always superb. Desserts are great, too. We go every year, and even though the kids are in their teen years, we still enjoy coloring on the paper table clothes!
An excellent experience every time. Always interested to see the new menu options and great local beer.
We continue to be impressed by the Local. Great food and service. Will continue to return.
Food is always good, very noisy but we already know that and like to return anyway. Excellent cocktails & chicken wings.
The food was very good. The waiter was pleasent a and attentive. The margaritas were not very good.
Super food. Casual atmosphere. Attentive staff. Salads and burgers were amazing
Been here many times with only good things to say. But today (4/27) was not close to those visits. Sandwich was uneatable! Mixed drink was so/so. The server was good and offered a few times to get me something else. But when she told me that the manager knew about the meal I was SHOCKED they never stoped by our table! I think this will be a place we will no frequent as often as we have in the past. I would recommend the owner relook at the quality of the food served and get rid of any manager who cares so little for their guests!
Love the food - very good. Kind of crowded. WAY TOO LOUD!!!
Always a good meal at the Local. Tasty dinner. Always a bit noisy, but getting better.
The hummus appetizer was fantastic. The sirloin steak was out of this world. Cooked perfectly. No fat once so ever and very tender. If you want a nice place to go for dinner with friends and you enjoy fresh local food, you'll love this place.
Ordered one of the weekly specials and after taking forever to come out. It was half cooked. Sorry can't eat raw pork.
Love this restaurant despite a high noise level and tight seating. The food choices are unique and worth it.
The Local always offers tasty and interesting dishes and drinks. Service is good and price, although not cheap, is reasonable. They take reservations, which is a plus, and there is plenty of parking in the lot. About the only drawback is the noise. Due to the concrete floor and open ceiling, it is always fairly noisy.
I will not be back. The food left so much to be desired. The steak was bland, and it was a poor quality meat because even though it was ordered medium rare, it was dry (this does not happen with good quality meats). The mac & cheese was bland and the sauce was grainy with an acid aftertaste. I would've thought that a restaurant of this price range would have spent an additional 5 minutes with this mac & cheese plate and maybe sprinkle some breadcrumbs and parmesan on top of the dish, and place it briefly in the oven to create a crust. The tots tasted as if they had been fried before and then reheated in oil; not fresh at all. I did not enjoy my experience at this restaurant, and will not be back again. I really had high expectations, but they did not deliver. I felt even worse when I paid my $70+ check because that meal wasn't worth it. There are much better options nearby, in that price range, and with much better ambiance.
The Local Eatery is one of our go-to restaurants when I don't feel like cooking but want some consistently very good food. We always enjoy the seasonal offerings on the menu as local, fresh ingredients change over. Not to be overlooked, are the standby items that are just as enjoyable - like the Plain Jane burger, Bird on a Wire, and the Hummus Platter.
If I had my wish - their salads would be portioned more toward a meal size but remain at the same price because they really are priced as an entre yet are sized as a generous side salad. I would also love it if they would do something about the acoustics as it can get very loud in the restaurant when full.
*Also, word to the wise - do not sit in a restaurant side booth if you aren't on the thin side. Not sure who designed those things, but I am average sized and feel claustrophobic sitting at a booth, once I slide in between the table and seat back. Bar side booths are roomy and great, but first come, first seated so be warned.
Matt was our server and did an awesome job. Food was great and the craft cocktails did not disappoint
Try the "From the South Burger" Wow!! Best Burger I've ever had!! Ever? Yes, Ever!!
$18 for a small fish and chips...ouch, tasty but yikes
Sat at the bar to watch March Madness. Bartender was great, but could have used a little help on a busy night. I had the quinoa bowl, which was great. My husband had fish and chips, two small pieces of fish for $18., wasn't quite worth it. Always a good "go to"!
I have been here a number of times but big fall off. Food for table did not get ordered at same time so 6/8 meals came out. Service was poor on basics of water, drinks, condiments and how things are. They did comp the two meals that came out 20 minutes later but most peoples food was cold while the mess was being figured out and finally decided to eat.
appetizer was a bit of a disappointment and in the past was really good so not sure what is happening but I will think twice before going back.
