Excellent view, good food and staff
Amazing seafood. Wonderful views.
Wife Birthday. Who enjoyed the evening.
What a great way to celebrate a birthday! First, our server was fantastic, and very caring to make sure our evening was enjoyable. He explained the menu well, and recommended the charred octopus appetizer. We ordered it, and I have to say it was one of the best small plates I've ever had. I would recommend ordering your own though, splitting it was actually hard because it was soooo good. Then for main course I had steamed lobster and our server again was amazing helping me through how to eat it. It was delicious and the potatoes and green beans that came with it were very nice. I thought it was a good value at about $60, market price. For my birthday they brought out a dessert, and it was strawberries and icecream with a lit candle. Very special. I would recommend to anyone who wants a nice seafood dinner on the coast!
We were in town for a high school trip and took our granddaughter to lunch. The food, view and service was all great. We give The Lobster a thumbs up!
The Lobster is such tourist joint but the food is dead on and the staff knows what's what! Ask for Mike. Super friendly. Great pacing and knows how to bring the wine to the food. The Lobster is bomb...Duh...but the pasta dishes are superb as well.
The service was great, the food was awesome, and the sunset view over Santa Monica is unlike any other.
Beautiful seafood restaurant with an even more beautiful location. Top notch service, excellent margarita, fresh seafood.
I enjoyed the meal it was hot and fresh. The Doubletree recommended The Lobster.
Best grilled lobster! Oysters are wonderful & the Caesar Salad is one of the best, large enough split for 2 to share. Good wine list. Great views from certain seating sections. Lively and family friendly atmosphere.
Really, overall besides everything mentioned above, the service is amazing. They are very attentive.
Sigourney was a great server! Food was awesome, as always. Thanks so much for a wonderful evening.
We had the Alaskan king crab and lobster it was fantastic.
I requested a window table ad we got it!....and at Sunset....such a beautiful treat. Sigourney was our server and made the evening even more special. She makes everyone feel as if they are special ad that she was happy they came that evening ..Oh I forgot to mention that the food a all wonderful. We have been enjoying date night there for several years and the quality is always top drawer
The food was amazing!! The View was spectacular!! Definitely recommend to others when visiting Santa Monica
Great view of pier and ocean, but high above the hustle and bustle. Service was great, food was varied and delicious, a bit pricey
Le Lobster permet de manger des produits de la mer de très grande qualité en bénéficiant d'une vue magnifique sur la Marina et l'ocean...
This was a special treat for my family during our vacation. I had a reservation at 6:30pm and arrived at about 6pm. The hostess seemed put off by that but I told her we would take a walk and be back in 30 minutes. She then insisted that she could seat us, but made it feel like she was doing us a big favor. In fact the dining room was quite empty and several window side tables were open. For some reason she seated us in the center of the room next to a couple who was on a date. Our table was about 2 inches apart from theirs which was awkward since there were plenty of open tables. Honestly, that first impression was not great. However the wait staff and service once seated was excellent. The food was also great. My husband and i had the 3 lbs of grilled lobster. It was e collent. My son had the seafood pasta and he really enjoyed it too.
Stepping into "The Lobster" is an amazing modern beachy experience. Mai Tai was exceptional but small, wifes fish N chips amazing. Shellfish & Black Chitarra Pasta was probably my favorite seafood pasta dish I have ever had.
Here is where this restaurant lacks in a huge, unforgivable way, is their Service!! We entered restaurant a little early for our reservation, which we were the only ones there waiting for 4pm dinner to start. After 15 minutes, they came and got us, eyeballing a view table I requested to sit there and they said "let me check". Then they sat someone else there saying "we were too late". Remember "We were the only ones waiting,". This person turned out to be a future server there and other staff.
I needed and Ordered 2- Mai's Tais which took at least 20 minutes to get, entree over an hour wait. Water glasses at the table empty quite alot.
Dining experience was a big "No".
Food was amazing though. If you are ok with unethical server practices and waiting for an an unsurmountable amount of time then this is the restaurant for you.
Great food, nice atmosphere, good location
Fantastic service with a table by the window that had a wonderful view. First timer at The Lobster and I enjoyed the Caesar salad (made the correct way with anchovy fillet on top as a garnish), my husband raved about the Barramundi Fish & Chips. However, I was disappointed in the Lobster Roll sandwich didn't realize it was a cold lobster salad in a toasted bun. I've had a lobster roll with warm lobster meat and sauce. However, it was very tasty but the lobster meat was a little too chewy for me. My husband loved the lobster bacon chowder. Yes, I would return to try other dishes because the service and the view is worth the ride.
really nice cheesecake! Sooooo good
Most excellent experience. Ambience, view, food and service all par excellence. Highly recommended.
I lived on LA's coasts for 20 yrs. I still love going to Santa Monica and the West side on vacations as I moved to Las Vegas (great everything!). This Spring Break, I took my very good friend from Pittsburg out for a nice dinner. It was Easter Sunday afternoon and we selected The Lobster. We were first seated in a cramped two-top close to the kitchen. The bar would have been a better choice. There were 3-two tops in that area. We said nothing to give the experience a chance. The mirror in front of those facing the wall helped them look around the room. That was a good feature. A table of 3 little girls (perhaps 3 to 6 yrs old) and two parents who seemingly had no idea of how to manage children in a public restaurant, were sitting across the aisle. These three adorable girls crawled over the table, under the table, obstructed the wait staff, stood on the top of the cushion to peer over the divider to the next booth. They were messy, yelling at their parents and each other, and hitting their dad. Our experience went from cramped to ruined. We enjoyed our soups, lobster, and crab, then got out of there not desiring to ever go there again. I felt too many people were crammed into the space. The next afternoon, Gladstones in Malibu/Palisades gave us the best experience...one we want to repeat. The Lobster is "out" for us as a choice, next time in Santa Monica.
The Lobster is always a stopping point for our family whilst we’re in Santa Monica, we love looking out onto The Pier & watch the sunset over the ocean.
There’s something for everyone including kids!
Service is always great and food is delicious.
Be sure to book a table as it’s always busy. We had to book 2 separate reservations for a party of 8, as in 4 & 4 sat by each other otherwise it was a 3 hour wait.... eekkk
Food is good, but service is ok.
Out of town guests
The atmosphere and view are amazing. Excellent service. The food was very good, but in my opinion, overpriced. The lobster corn bisque was thin and lacked lobster and corn! I had 3 small pieces of lobster in my bisque. :(
As always, The Lobster provided excellent service, excellent food and a lively (if somewhat noisy) ambiance. It is one of my favorite places to take out of town business guests. The creative seafood is a treat. It is a bit on the expensive side, but worth it for a special business dinner or romantic date. One of the few waterfront / scenic restaurants where the food is as good as, or better than, the view. Service was excellent: attentive without being overwhelming -- and our particular server showed great delicacy in intervening without interrupting our conversation: a rarity in LA.
While it is costly, the food is good. They change it up, don't know how often. But great service.
Our dinning experience at The Lobster was perfect! From the beautiful window table (as requested) to the warm, friendly and skilled waiters and excellent food- our experience couldn’t of been better. We will return!!
Great foods, great atmosphere, and great services.
We got there just before sunset and saw beautiful sunset!!
Très bonne adresse pour manger du homard.
Emplacement idéal sur le Pier. Avec vue imprenable sur la plage de Santa Monica. Attention cependant les prix sont élevés.
I highly recommend the octopus and the lobster fried rice
It’s true the view is beautiful. The tables are very close together. We overheard conversations on both sides. The food was ok. Nothing special. The service was mediocre across the board.
Error in order
The food was excellent lobster was over priced, $270 for a 4 lb lobster. We made the reservation through open table. Arrived 5 min early for an 8:30 and was seated at 8:55.
The hostess asked me my name four times yelling across the front lobby. The table we were seated at was terrible. The server and dining service was very good the food came out hot and was excellent .
Great as usual.
I'm amazed how good the food, service and ambiance are at The Lobster. We're visiting from NYC, but we all agreed that we would come back if we lived here. We stuck to core menu items (Lobster Chowder, Lobster Rolls) and the server made a great off-the-menu mocktail suggested for our teen daughter (raspberry mojito). Great venue for our last lunch in LA and amazing view of the pier.
Food was good but overly large. No reason for the giant portion sizes. My daughter ordered a Cobb salad, yet her entree didn't come out for almost 15 minutes after ours arrived and our food were hot entrees. The view makes up for some of the quirks here.
