The Lobster Ratings and Reviews
Gorgeous ocean and pier views, privileged location for a restaurant and great bar scene to watch people entering and exiting the Pier. Lobster pricey- we expected better value. Very good alternative dishes- Rated service low because of petty host/manager fussiness- Table service excellent.
This was one situation in which the restaurant looked very good on the internet and was so much better in reality. The wait staff is superb and the food excellent. The location is fabulous and I would recommend that diners going during the last daylight hours of the day to appreciate the view.
Over priced, there is basically zero outside seating for a place right by the beach, the service was average, and everything on the menu is overpriced, $7 for a Pacifico, $8 for a 11oz Guinness as a example, also the inside didn’t have AC running, so we sat outside which only had about 6 bar seats, which is the only “outside” seating.
The Lobster located near the ocean, so You can see the Santa Monica beach, the ocean, and palm trees. We celebrated 3 years together anniversary there and The Lobster employees give us a small surprise - ice cream with homemade strawberry jam. We ordered a seasonal California lobster with grilled asparagus, oysters and black pasta with seafood. Everything was perfectly cooked and our waiter Marcel (sorry for misspelling) treated us as a high-level person. Thank you for experience and we will definitely return in near future.
Excellent location, great View, attractive Restaurant and Bar, and tremendous staff- very attentive professional and friendly. The food was good but not exceptional especially for the price. So I believe you are paying a high premium for the ambience, but I suppose that should be expected.
My husband and I went here for a date night. We live in Orange County and were spending the weekend in Santa Barbara on a whim. I found "The Lobster" on Mapquest and read the reviews on yelp. It was walking distance from our hotel so we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. Our server, Mike, was excellent. It is so unusual to have someone who really seems to enjoy their job anymore. He could not have been more attentive or friendly. My husband had the steamed lobster and I had king crab legs. Both were off the charts amazing. I would say the lobster is the best either of us have ever had. We had a table seat right next to the window to enjoy a view of the Santa Monica pier and an unbelievable sunset. Just all around a wonderful dining experience. We will be back for sure someday.
Terrific restaurant, especially for seafood lovers. The sea urchin is positively to die for! Great wine list, excellent apps and sides, superb mains like spiny lobster and halibut, very good wine list with some unusual choices (not just the usual suspects). Impeccable service, take your breath away view, nice ambiance. The only thing about this restaurant that isn't perfect is that there really aren't any low cost options; you're going to spend $50 for a meal at the very least. But I recommend splurging and enjoying this little slice of heaven!
Visited here and had a wonderful birthday lunch. The service and the food were great. I had the lobster roll and it was very tatsy and substantial. My bf ordered some fresh and delicious oysters, along with some shrimp. We really enjoyed our visit and would go back in a heartbeat.
This place is great! The menu is outstanding and difficult to choose from because it all looked so good. I ordered the American lobster and had it grilled and it was the best one I've ever eaten. My husband got the prawns, kalimari and octopus for an app with the king crab legs for an entreé and ate every bit of it. Beautiful setting over looking the ocean and Santa Monica pier. Can't ask for a better experience.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Monica. Any excuse and we are there. Six of us and four were celebrating late and early birthdays. We had a variety of lunch dishes and everyone was happy. New on the menu is the corn lobster chowder. Yum! I had their hamburger and a strange thing to order but it was great. Good French fries. The fish and chips is really enough for two but order your own if you don’t want to share the french fries. They brought out four birthday treats and they were delicious. The waiter couldn’t have been more attentive.
The experience was outstanding and unforgettable. I was there celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday and everyone made her feel special and wished her a happy birthday. Our server Natalie played a big role in making our night out memorable. She had a smile the whole time, would help out with all our questions, and looked like she enjoyed working there which made us enjoy being there. Everything about the restaurant was excellent like the food, the vibe, and especially the service. I would recommend it to everyone and would definitely go back in the future.
Everything about this dinner was perfect! We ended our honeymoon here and couldn’t have had a better meal or better service. Chris was our waiter and offered the best suggestions! It was pricey but surely a treat and food that you just don’t get all the time! We had Dungeness crab and California spiny lobster! Absolutely wonderful!!!
Amazing service friendly and courteous! They really went out of their way to make it a special event for us. The restaurant is aptly named for its succulent and tasty lobster but items like the corn chowder and Caesar salad complimented the dinner perfectly! What a great. Expensive but highly recommended for any and all occasions!!
