The Lobster is a must destination if you want good seafood by the ocean.
Decided to do dinner here on our last night in US. What a find. As i said to our server 'we saved the best for last'. Real anchovies on the Ceasar and fresh lobster tail on the steak. A beautiful Chianti to boot. Fabulous!!
The dinner was to celebrate my son completing the la marathon and qualifying for Boston. Lobster was excellent as was two other of the four meals. The fourth meal was delivered incorrect twice when we gave specific instructions. This resulted in the very expensive steak being finally served cool and dry. Due to time restraint it was eaten but was completely disappointed in that meal. When we return to LA we will not be visiting the Lobster again.
It was a wonderful experience.
Took my mom here on her last night in Santa Monica. The ambience and the view were both great. My mother and I both ordered the Spiny Seasonal Lobster from Santa Barbara, the waiter told us it was $68 for 1 1/2 pounds. When the bill came it was marked as 2 for $200, 1 @ $100 for 1.5 pounds. Thought this was weird. The busser also removed our lobster mash potato when it was still 1/2 full. We were indulging in conversation and he swooshed it away.... :(
Also, no one reminded us to validate our parking. It was super cold and windy that day, we went down to the valet for him to say we had to go back up (even with the receipt for proof). I was upset. The server should always always ask at the end of the meal if you need validation... it’s Santa Monica.
Overall the food was very good, just disappointed a bit in the service.
Got the spiny lobster - could have been 5Lb, but felt small for the price tag.
We were looking to take our Japanese exchange student someplace unique and memorable - the Lobster immediately came to mind. Exceptional food, service, and views of the SaMo pier. Convenient valet parking. Got seated early for a 9pm reservation. Fabulous!
The Dungeness crab cake was mediocre and small. Wine was ok (I prefer chardonnay colder and more distinctive). The scallops were excellent. Service was attentive. The Lobster is such a nice place that, overall, it was a very pleasant lunch. However, it is also quite expensive.
I felt over priced. You are paying for the view. Do not go at night. The draw is the view. Better for sunset or lunch. Parking irritating. Charging extra to use a credit card. As a business owner, I found that offensive. This is the cost of doing business. Food quality and value better at Eddie V’s and Pappadeauxs.
I was disappointed as I told the restaurant that it was my friends 65 special bday---when we sat down the host said happy birthday--however the waiter did not bring anything for dessert in the past they have.
I really enjoyed my evening and experience at the Lobster. I do recommend that the food must hot and not medium warm.
please bring the Barramundi back as a main course and not as fish & chips!!
Although it was overcast and rainy, we had a lovely table with a view. Our server was attentive. The food was delicious!
Great restaurant for good food, service and ambience.
Outstanding service and delicious food overlooking the ocean. What could be better?
Not certain if I like the newer menus changes.
A few too many non seafood choices
Would like to see the Halibut back
Over many years a great choice of constant high quality.
Great view. The oyster and the lobster are so fresh and delicious.
I think I could eat here every night. I tried the salad with arugula and watermelon and it was very light and refreshing. I also had scallops, which were cooked perfectly (this from a picky scallop eater) and lobster mashed potatoes. Not sure I can go back without getting those again! Great service again :)
Amazing ambiance, we had the best table in the place with gorgeous views of the Santa Monica pier, food was very good too.
was disappointed. i was expecting fresh seafood considering the name and the price point. we ordered the alaskan king crab which is my favorite, and instead of that sweet crab taste it was fishy and had a unpleasant after taste. the lobster was good though. and our server was fantastic.
we are locals and probably won’t be eating here again.
Fried calamari & shrimp was really good. Crabcakes were good but I wouldn’t get it again. I know they are known for lobster but mine was over cooked and the seasoning was too salty and even though it’s grilled you can tell it was steamed first and was soggy. Next time I’ll try Alaskan king crab instead of lobster.
Awesome service from the time we got there til leaving. Our waiter was very friendly and the manager in assuming was very friendly and everything. Loved the night and it was very impressive from the waiter to the awesome food!
Very friendly service though too many different waiters at our table. Food fairly mediocre nothing tasted home made.
Wonderful scenic view of Santa Monica pier. Very good and personal service. Food (lobster) was delicious
I don't understand why you do not have just a lobster tail. Some people do want the entire lobster and it gives the appearance you just want to charge for the shell. I was very disappointed and i will NOT be back.
The service was amazing, plates were off the table quickly. The food was delicious and the ambienance was beautiful. I had the lobster and it was served so it was easy to eat. The calamari appi was super.
The food was great. A bit pricey but for the ambiance and scenic view, it's well worth it. Would return in a heartbeat.
Always great food and good service. This place is an institution, and I liked some of the newer menu items. The lobster salad was perfection, in my opinion! Generous portion of chilled lobster over little gems and citrus. So yummy. And even though they are known for lobster, even the non seafood dishes are excellent. Loved the steak tartare.
It can be a bit touristy, but a wonderful spot to take the in laws or celebrate a birthday looking over the sunset. Had to giggle at the pretentiousness when the waiter informed “chef won’t go past medium on the salmon” I appreciated the warning :)
Wonderful experience. Seated quickly. Food was sequenced well with no rush.
The service was great. Our server was knowledgeable, showed us pictures of the food, which made it much more easier to make a selection. Also, food itself was very tasty, and overall experience was worth the trip
Celebrated my 2 year anniversary with the love of my life to some amazing food and beautiful views. Definitely have to treat my mom here in future. (+:
Hard to believe but the food has actually gotten better!!! The service was as impeccable as always. Love the soft jazz background music, which allows for easy conversation. One of my all-time favorite places to eat ♥️
PS ..... Hurry if you want to enjoy their delicious spiney lobster (see photo)
First impression was that the restaurant was all about the location (entrance to Santa Monica Pier) - vs service and food quality - - Could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Was visiting from Manhattan and our meal was best meal on our trip to So. Ca. Service, from the bar to our dinner table - was wonderful - never felt rushed. Server had great knowledge of the menu (was great to see Peconic Bay Scallops from Long Island on the menu as a new addition!) - all recommendations were "spot on" , ambiance terrific (wonderful window front table at south-west corner of restaurant) -- Will be a must on all future visits to the LA area.
The staff was so professional. I had a salad to start and it was so delicious, it had goat cheese and watermelon, I recommended it. My Husband also enjoyed the Caesar salad. I had steak and it was great, but my husband was not impressed with his seafood pasta. Our friends Enjoyed the Ribeye and Shellfish. Dessert was yummy. Once again the service was great!
Thank you for a fun evening.
You can’t beat the location of the Lobster. Our Open Table reservation afforded us a wonderful window table. Our server was incredibly personable and helpful with the menu.
We both had the lobster salad, why not, we are at The Lobster.
Great meal and a fun time.
We chose the Lobster for a special occasion birthday dinner. We were running late for our reservation and called ahead. The hostess was able to accommodate us without any problem. We were seated at a great table by the window. Our server and her assistant were very attentive and made sure we had everything we asked for within minutes. The quality of the food was excellent. Everything was very fresh and presented as ordered.
We would definitely return once again especially for lunch or during the summer months.
Service was excellent. Waiter was exceptionally nice and patient with young children. Food was delicious!! Definitely visit again.
