The Lobster Ratings and Reviews
The experience was outstanding and unforgettable. I was there celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday and everyone made her feel special and wished her a happy birthday. Our server Natalie played a big role in making our night out memorable. She had a smile the whole time, would help out with all our questions, and looked like she enjoyed working there which made us enjoy being there. Everything about the restaurant was excellent like the food, the vibe, and especially the service. I would recommend it to everyone and would definitely go back in the future.
Everything about this dinner was perfect! We ended our honeymoon here and couldn’t have had a better meal or better service. Chris was our waiter and offered the best suggestions! It was pricey but surely a treat and food that you just don’t get all the time! We had Dungeness crab and California spiny lobster! Absolutely wonderful!!!
Amazing service friendly and courteous! They really went out of their way to make it a special event for us. The restaurant is aptly named for its succulent and tasty lobster but items like the corn chowder and Caesar salad complimented the dinner perfectly! What a great. Expensive but highly recommended for any and all occasions!!
The service was 5 star and the cuisine was 5 star; very personable spot on service and a truly delicious meal! Came down from Alaska to enjoy a World Series game and a friend recommended The Lobster; so glad we followed through with the recommendation. Noise level was loud so at first a little disheartening for a date night but again the meal and service made up for it.
Amazing! Jason, the GM is wonderful and really went out of his way to greet & accommodate us. Our server, Jared, was also great. He knew the menu and wines very well & offered great suggestions. The food was delicious as usual and of course the view overlooking the sunset on the ocean is something you can't beat. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in LA.
Had such a great time at the Lobster! Was recommended by a friend who lives in the area. We were visiting from Missoula, MT. Food was spectacular, location amazing, drinks were SO good, and our server Brock was incredibly helpful and friendly. Great for our last night out in Santa Monica eating fresh seafood.
Not sure what the criteria is to request a table near the window facing the ocean? I have dined here many times and have requested the same view every time but myself and my family are always seated at a table in the back by the kitchen ... the exact same table every time to be honest. We also arrived early and was told we still had to wait for our table. While waiting, we watched in horror as a random family came in and asked if they could be accommodated as walk-ins. They were immediately escorted to the dining room for seating. But wait, it gets worse. The valet parking when validated was $12 but when I arrived at the valet stand to retrieve my car, the attendant wanted $15 instead. Happy Birthday to us! Will never darken The Lobster's door again. I will also alert friends, co-workers, and family of this misadventure. Tisk, tisk, tisk!!
We went there to celebrate a birthday while visiting in Santa Monica. Have been to Santa Monica multiple times over past two years and we’ve eaten our way through all of the top restaurants. We’ve avoided The Lobster, thinking it is a tourist trap. We were wrong. Sat at a window table and watched the sunset. Our waiter, Michael, was fantastic. We shared the octopus appetizer, and then each ordered the grilled lobster and the scallops for entrees. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent. They brought the birthday guest a dessert with candle. I highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner.
We were sat 30min before sunset, which was just spectacular from inside the restaurant. However, in spite of multiple empty tables that would have accommodated 4 people, we were sat directly in between 2 two-tops. And when I say directly between, there was less than 6 inches between our table and theirs. It was like eating dinner with complete strangers. My chair was closer to this nice guy from Seattle (how can you sit that close to someone for an hour and not speak?) than I was to my own daughter. And the tables directly behind us were so close that I had to climb over my daughter’s chair to reach my own. Clearly, the seating represents a restaurant that doesn’t value its guests’ dining experience. If only the food had some taste to it, we probably wouldn’t have minded so much about being packed in like sardines.
This was my second visit at The Lobster with my mom. The food was amazing, however;
The menu offers two version of the grilled lobster, a 2 1/2 lbs and a 3 lbs.
On our first visit we ordered the grilled (2 1/2) lbs lobster and everything came out perfect.
On our second visit we decided to order the (3) lbs lobster and the lobster that came was visibly
smaller than the (2 1/2) lbs lobster that i had on my first visit.
Other than that, the dinning experience was very pleasant and the staff provides an amazing
We will be back because of the food and staff but will also let them know about our second visit.
