Host Nikki was great, got us seated after a few minutes at the bar. The bartenders were awesome, sooo thoughtful and considerate.
Honestly, the best seafood restaurant in Los Angeles. No pretense. High quality ingredients prepared simply and correctly. The view deserves it's own 5 stars.
Had a delicious dinner seated at the bar, with a gorgeous ocean and pier view. We originally made a reservation for the main restaurant but arrived early and decided to go ahead and take a high top table at the bar because of the great view. Dinner was excellent, our sever was professional and knowledgeable about both the food and wine menus and we had a great time. The game was on (but silent) in the bar area and it made for a fun and energetic atmosphere.
Tried the lobster americana for the first time - already shelled and served over lobster mash. The sauce was devine and no messy hands to clean afterwards! The lobster was not overdone, as is common with the already shelled dishes.
I also tried dessert this time...Chocolate Pave, omg. Melted in my mouth. Get in my belly!
Amazing by the glass wine list - I love to splurge on a glass of Taittinger after a long day of work. And even had some yummy port with dessert.
Food is always good but not great... way too expensive, Parking irritating. Charging extra to use a credit card. As a business owner, I found that offensive. This is the cost of doing business.it was my birthday and surprise the Server did not offer/bring a dessert with a candle after dinner....Shame on owners & management training of servers not to offer $2 scoop of ice cream.
Excellent service. We came in with a baby in a stroller and even though the space was somewhat tight we were promptly accommodated. The lobster was delicious as well.
I love the lobster and usually go Sunday afternoon because the view of the ocean and bustling pier is great. The food is very good and I am never disappointed. One of my favorites I’ve been eating for 10 years now is the crab enchiladas with Caesar salad. Honestly everything is good.
We had a great evening but it is very expensive! Lobster is VERY high priced. So high that we did not order it as we had planned to. We are not usually bothered by price but the lobster was over the top.
Took my wife for her birthday. Didn’t disappoint! Great time and very good grilled lobster.
Wonderful table, ambiance and service but the food was highly overseasoned and flavored. Truffle fries were overpowering and inedible. I have been here before and enjoyed the food immensely but something has changed .... and it's not good.
Our sever was amazing. Our flight was delayed 4 hours and we spent the time laughing & enjoying the food & wine. Thank you for creating an exceptional experience during a difficult time!
It was my turn to treat for a “Girls Day Out” with me, a cousin and my sister. I’d eaten at The Lobster previously and I’d enjoyed the food and atmosphere so chose this as the place to treat my family. Except for the truffle Parmesan fries which were super delicious, I could only classify the food as good but not exceptional. What made this a most wonderful experience was the extremely attentive, helpful and friendly staff from the valet, to the receptionist, to our wait staff Donna and all the others whom cared for our dining needs and the beautiful lady whom bade is farewell. Donna was extremely patient with our slow ordering since we were chatting and catching up! And of course, the day turned out to be perfectly beautiful with clear blue sky’s with a great view of the ocean! It was a lovely day and YES, we will return!
The food was good and a bit overpriced I think. We had the oyster sample (the oysters were tiny), the grilled lobster (good, but lot of work), and salmon (tiny portion). The side dishes included with salmon were merely decorations. Cheese cake was good but tiny too (did not help that I compared it with portions at Sweet Lady Jane). Service was efficient but not exceptional. I would recommend to out of towners to enjoy the view.
Lobster was small and to expensive for the quantity. Not enough lobster meat. $ 33 dollars a pound.
Went on Mother’s Day. Food was served at room temperature. It was clearly prepared and waiting or sat for too long before it was served. The lobsters were over priced but served hot. The steak and lobster dish was ok. Lobster on that dish was served cold. Service was great.
Terrible place! Went for mother's day and made a reservation in advance to get good seating. The contrary they put me on the back in a corner next to the kitchen. My bill was for $328.32 for appetizers, 3 glasses of bad wine and a three pound lobster. The lobster was not that good ! The tail was so thin and the head was huge so most of the lobster was a big shell. Noisy place, rude hostess and very touristy. At this price I go to The Water Grill a block further up and get fine dining with better service. There was a table next to the window and the hostess said it was for a party of six and five minutes later they sat four people at the table instead of us. When we confronted the manger she was rude and not accommodating at all.
Loved it! Will go every time I'm in Santa Monica!
Dinner was great! although we had a small table near server station/but the service was great was quite noisy near the kitchen but enjoyed dinner.
Great food great views!
The food was good, service from our waiter was phenomenal. However, I was very specific when I said I wanted to be seated next to the window and we didn't get that again!! The only reason why we made reservations there was for the scenic view... I was very disappointed in that.
Great spot for CA visitors. Food is very good although a bit pricey for what it is. Service is great and accommodating to special requests. Views make it fun.
Our waiter, Pepe, was personable and efficient.
The grilled lobster is just so amazing!! Looking forward to my return!!
The food and service were great. The view was excellent.
I am here to celebrating my wife's 60's birthday party from Korea with my niece who visits L.A. their schedule. We enjoy food and nice sea view of Santa Monica.
Very nice restaurant with a wonderful view of the ocean outside Santa Monica. Steak and Fish are very good as expected of a medium priced Dinner restaurant. Nice bar for the younger crowd. Very good service
Very tired old restaurant with food that's not fit for Open Table standards. Our server however was most helpful and friendly. He could get a job at an upscale restaurant.
The mussels were inedible and the fish was very close.....
It’s a little pricey. However, every dish ordered was delicious. The view of the pier and ocean add to the attraction and ambiance of the restaurant. The service was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant especially for tourists and for celebrating a special occasion.
The bathrooms was so dirty, our food took forever to arrive. But it was good and so was our servicer Taylor!
Third year we have flown in for my birthday . Fantastic location and food. Great service and the food prepared to perfection
Great food and service as always, but not happy that our special request for a good table by the window was not honored although I had made the reservation weeks in advance. Hostess informed us was only a "request" and was honored based on what was available at the time of arrival. Really? On a busy Saturday night, I knew there wouldn't be any good tables open, that's why I requested one weeks in advance, so when one opened up, it would be held for us when we arrived at our reservation time. Apparently this restaurant doesn't do that, or at least doesn't do it on busy nights, so be prepared to be disappointed. Our out-of-town guests didn't mind, they could still see the ocean and the lit-up pier at night from where we were, just wasn't as nice as I new it could have been at this great spot. Will have to plan to come back with friends on a more quiet week night... but food was fantastic like it always is, and our waitress was as well!
The experience was great at The Lobster, the waiter Frankie was great and very informative about the food. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time and the view of the beach during a sunset was an amazing experience that I always enjoy. The steak was delicous, it was cooked to my liking and the frites were great, the Ceasar salad was tasty and fresh. I will go back to the The Lobster inbthe nwar future.
Have been to The Lobster at least a dozen times. Food is always great... it was my 50th birthday and surprise the Server did not offer/bring a dessert with a candle after dinner...
Great food and service..
Sort of loud but great food
This is a very nice place, with a beautiful view of the ocean. Sat at the bar where we were served by very attentive bartender. Our meals were very nice, so no complaints, but also not exceptional. I would recommend this place readily, but I’m not sure how often I would return.
Bartender was awesome! She customized a refreshing drink for me
