We spent the afternoon at the pier and chose The Lobster for dinner. We both had the Butter Poached Lobster which was amazing. Started off with mussels, also delicious. Amazing view, great service. Would definitely recommend and come again.
Oysters and lobster roll stood out and were good, everything else was average. Waitress was sweet but overwhelmed. Didn’t write orders down so forgot things constantly. Forgot drinks, forgot refills, forgot requests so we had to ask at least twice (if not more) for things. This put a dampener on the experience.
The food was great ! Lobster was great but a little pricey , but very enjoyable.
Can’t be beat for seafood options and people watching from high tops near the iconic Santa Monica Pier.
Staff is friendly and very professional.
Spectacular lobster, excellent waiter (he even cracked my lobster for me because my hand has arthritis). Couldn't have e asked for a better experience.
While the food was indeed to die for, what made my experience the best was my waiter Mike. Very joyful, full of energy and good recommendations, i really enjoyed the service most
Really enjoyed the food and the service was outstanding. Franky our waiter was very helpful with our meal choices. Would definitely reccomend and will go back if i can.
Food was great! Great people watching and ocean view.
Consistent and delicious! Service is always stellar and with Chef Goran, the menu has new and exciting additions! The lobster salad on little gem lettuce is a winner as was the seafood pasta dish, whose name I cannot recall. It was filled with seafood, just enough pasta and plenty of flavor! But the standout of the evening had to be the chocolate pave dessert that was truly incredible! If you're a chocolate lover, this sublime creation of flourless chocolate, ethereal mocha zabaglione and crunchy honeycomb candy isn't to be missed.
I have been to the Lobster before but nit fir some time. I was taking some friends who live in Santa Monica as a special thank you dinner. We got a table by the window so we could see the view. The menu was fresh and seasonal. And our waiter, I think his name was Taylor, could not have been nicer, funnier, more on the ball and totally contributed to a fantastic evening over all. I have to go back more often!
Our waiter made great recommendations and we followed his advice. He was attentive but not over bearing. Everything we ordered was cooked well and came out of the kitchen quickly. Food quality is very good but the you are paying more for the location and the view.
We did not get our window table for a 6:00 resv. And we were early. Plus there were empty window tables. The lady seating said it wasn't her decision and would check on it but never got back to us. The food was excellent, the service also was excellent. Very noisy and got really noisy as the night wore on.
Very close to Santa Monica Beach
lobsters are quit good but not suprising
Outstanding seafood. We had lobster, scallops, prawns, crab and calamari. It was all excellent. It’s pricey but worth it. I highly recommend this place.
My third visit to The Lobster and the third time ordering the grilled lobster,
This time we had a 3lb lobster each, IMO you can't go wrong with the grilled lobster dish.
Very nice restaurant. Views are phenomenal. I ordered the day boat scallops and was a bit disappointed. The flavor profile was bland.
The food was average at best. The butter poached lobster serve red w lobster mash and Swiss chard had little buttery flavoring on the lobster...tasted more like hot water and took on the taste of the Swiss chard. Quite disappointing especially since this was my birthday dinner. Not really sure where the mushrooms fit in either. However, the service and view were EXCELLENT!
Great food and service
The grilled lobster with melted butter is totally amazing, probably the best I have had in
a very long time! The caesar salad is excellent as well as the warm chocolate soufflé with ice cream and mint! The service is very good, our waiter was so helpful with the choice of wine
and hot towels, etc....and he had a wonderful sense of humor.... The Ocean view is beautiful!
it is very $$$, but absolutely a memorable experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant,
and if you can afford the lobster go for it :) DG
I have asked for a table next to a window (I booked two months before - a table of 2) and when we arrived they told us it was impossible (even if there were at least two empty tables of 2 next to a window). I had to insist to get the right place, and explain my story to 4 different people. Then I have also asked about candles as it was for my boyfriend’s birthday and no one came with that so I let it go. The waiter was very nice but the general service does not match with the prices of the restaurant (I had a 500$ bill for 2). Positive point : we had the best lobsters of our lives !
This is my second visit. My first visit was in early June to join out of town family who made the reservation. I rarely dine at upscale restaurants because my food budget doesn't justify the money spent for a generally disappointing experience. Delightfully, The Lobster exceeded my expectations. The service was very good, the food was delicious and plentiful, and well worth the price paid. When another (different) out of town family member was in Los Angeles and wanted to join me for dinner Sunday evening, I immediately chose The Lobster. The second visit reaffirmed what a good choice it was. From the moment we arrived, it again felt warm and welcoming and from the hostess to the wait staff to the parking staff, everyone was friendly, efficient and caring. I can hardly wait for another occasion to go back. Thank you.
Amazing! I can’t wait to go back
Ordered 2 1/2 lobster shared 1/2 with my husband. When it was served there was hardly any lobster in the shell. Not much to eat.
Definitely not worth what it cost.
The Lobster was fantastic! I called ahead and they gave us a table by the window, so we could watch the sunset. Our waiter Frank was fabulous. He had a great personality and his recommendations were right on! Oh yeah, the food was fantastic too!
Amazing food. A bit expensive it worth if you dont go too often. Great service and video view.
The food was great. What else would you want to eat but lobster. We had the steamed version, not sure what the grilled would be like so we went with what we knew. Size and price vary depending on what they have available. Expensive, but worth the money.
Best seafood around ,beachfront views right next to the santa monica pier .great mojitos and nice fresh lobster is the best
Excellent all around, as usual! Love the shrimp/ crab Louie salad!!
We went to this place two weeks before and were really looking forward to it on our last night in Santa Monica. The shellfish for two we had on both occasions. The second time seemed lacking and when the waitress was asked about the inclusions in the meal we were this was normal. We knew it wasn’t. So a little disappointing but it was mainly the waitress who treated us with disdain. We are an older couple but both professors and not fools. We were treated as such but I suppose if you aren’t potential connections to an acting career then you don’t matter. Such a shame as a lovely venue and our first meal there was outstanding.
Good food, but very loud from the crowd.
Our 2nd time this year. A wonderful dining experience. Chef Govind is amazing. We loved the Seafood Black Ink Pasta and topped it off with a 1/2 lobster. The charred octopus is delicious. Service was excellent and attentive. During summer months, allow for traffic, took us 20 minutes to go 4 blocks.
The food was NOT good. Way over priced and wasn't even tasty! Our original waiter and the servers were great. Very friendly, very attentive. The waiter that took over was hardly around and didn't pay much attention to us. If we're spending over $250 for 3 people, they should know the basics like fill our water glass if it's empty. Won't be going back....ever!
I love this place and have brought several friends here for their birthdays. My only criticism is every time I make my reservation and request a window table, I never get one. I have reserved as much as a month in advance. What does it take to get a table by a window???
I’d really like to know.
The grilled lobster was amazing!!! Equally amazing, tender, and well seasoned was the filet. We were impressed and pleased with our entire experience!
Ratings were all high - BUT what a disappointment!
Nice place and vibrant, service was very good and views very good....unfortunately, we ordered the 3 1/2 grilled lobster and it was very chewy, not flavor-able at all...my white chard (Russian River Valley) was excellent but my wife's 'extra' dirty martini wasn't ....after two attempts!
We love lobster and cooked it at home, ate many from Maine, had great Brazilian and New Zealand lobster too....all have been fantastic.
This place should have been a 'no-brainer' for expectations -but in the end ...what a disappointment!
Nice staff, nice dinner,nice view,
Id like to come again
Had friends in from Japan who wanted to try US Maine Lobster. It is my go to place. They LOVED it!!
Way too expensive. $540 for 3 people. We were promised a table by the window when we made a reservation but got seated at a table in the middle. They were very un accommodating. We will never go back.
