We can for the coffee bar. There was a large assortment of chocolates, macaroons, parfaits and choices of hot chocolate and coffees. But the price was a bit high.

What a lovely afternoon tea, exquisite food, beautiful decoration, and impeccable services!

I booked an afternoon tea at the lobby restaurant at the Peninsula Hotel, Chicago on the New Year's Day. Though it is somehow expensive , the whole experience is wonderful.

Thanks!

Beautiful venue and elegant holiday setting. We have experienced High Tea in each of the highly recommended hotels in Chicago as well as New York, London, Paris, and Dublin and the good at The Lobby of the Peninsula was the best. The only drawback was eve service and the issue seemed to only be with our waiter. We sat for an hour before our food arrived.

We dined at the Lobby on Christmas Eve. Most of our party chose the wine pairing option on the pre-fixe menu. Excellent dinner and the chocolate bar for was great fun and delicious.

Returned to the Lobby Tea after several years and it was better than we remembered; service and food was exemplary! We're going to make this an annual event for special occasions.

We had a lovely time dining at The Lobby. The dinner entrees were fantastic-- they were smaller portions but the meals were cooked to perfection. The holiday Chocolate Buffet was DIVINE. The hot chocolate station and beignets were outstanding. The service was lovely and they brought out a complimentary dessert and bear to congratulate us on our pregnancy. It was very touching- highly recommend the Peninsula!

Christmas celebration lunch. Beautiful decorations and very attentive staff. Food was good but very pricey. Two drinks, coffee, one soup, and two sandwiches totaled $145.

The dining staff was always attentive and anxious to please. The food was both tasty and healthy with ample portions. Plenty of photo ops amidst the elaborately decorate Christmas tree. At least 30 feet of creative ornaments and ribbons. Included is Santa’s chair.

Enjoyed a wonderful Holiday lunch with a friend at The Lobby. The room was beautifully decorated, the food delicious and the service was fantastic. It was a lovely, quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle of MIchigan Avenue.

At the time I made the reservation the afternoon tea was listed as being $50. When we got there there was only a Holiday Tea available for $75. To top it off the only thing "holiday" about the tea was one cookie with a bit of red and green icing.

All very misleading.

I was disappointed because we were doing Holiday Tea with 4 friends. The day of my reservation they informed me the tea would be $75, not $65. I thought $65 was plenty pricey and I resented that they jacked up the price because it was December 2nd. I am sure they think, "well if you can afford $65, why not $75" but that's not really the point. As if they couldn't make a very good profit charging $65 for tea. In addition, the food was not as good as where we went last year, and they did charge more because is was the Holiday. The tree in the middle of the lobby was lovely, but it was noisy. The wait staff were very nice and professional - efficient.

Of course when show up for afternoon tea, the price has been jacked up from the already absurd $65/person to $75/person. The desserts were pretty tacky and pedestrian with what appeared to be grocery store level decoration and presentation. The sandwiches and tea, however, were delicious.

I have been going to the Lobby for afternoon tea for several years now and I was impressed the very first time I went. Subsequent visits have proved no less impressive. I decided this would be the place to go for tradition Christmas afternoon tea because the decorations; the A-1 service; the teas which taste like tasting tea for the first time are all wonderful. The Peninsula's afternoon teas are the standard against which I judge all teas. Even the Plaza Hotel in New York didn't quite match the ambience, service and teas of the Lobby. Until I find some place better, I will continue to go to the Lobby.

The Christmas Afternoon Tea is overpriced at $75 per person. The finger sandwiches were just "so-so", and none of the 4 of us enjoyed the mini desserts!

We arrived shortly after brunch opened and stations were not replenished often. Carving station food was over cooked and looked dried. Server was excellent and attentive. Music was lovely. There was a station with just dried fruit and nuts! For $75 pp
It was sad. Mimosas $20 each???
I'll try the Ritz Carlton next.👎

I really wanted to enjoy my experience at The Lobby. I had been waiting to go here for quite some time. My experience was so disappointing. The portions were incredibly small for the price and simply didn't taste good. I had the French toast. 4 tiny cubes of bread arrived on the plate. The bread was dry inside and out. For $20, I expect something palatable and I should not be hungry after eating my entree. The only good thing I had was the coffee. What they lacked in culinary skills they did not make up for in service. Our waitress disappeared for so long we actually started to wonder if our table had been forgotten. One guest at our table ordered the waffles and they came out without the cream. Not a huge deal except it took 2 people to correct the oversight. She was practically done by the time it arrived. I was actually embarrassed that I suggested that my family dine here and I don't expect to be back.

Afternoon Tea at the Lobby was a lovely experience. The food was delicious and nicely portioned. Savories were the perfect size and balanced out the sweets rather than being too heavy in the sweets. The Peninsula Chai is a delicious tea choice. Musicians played for a portion of our time and that was wonderful, though I was glad to not be sitting to close to them as conversation may have been difficult. I’ve been several times to this tea and look forward to when I can return.

Visiting Chicago in many ways is always a new adventure. For my daighters’ 15th Birthday we decided to reserve a table for afternoon tea. We commend the hostess that evening and especially the fabulous server Ubaldo. Ubaldo allowed for an amazing experience. I can not sufficiently describe the tasty scones, sandwiches: lobster shrimp, cucumber, smoked salmon, chicken salad and roasted butternut squash. Our desserts were also fabulous. As was the tea. Our compliments to the chef for the beautiful and equally delicious dessert that was sent out to my daughter.

The "pink" tea in October for breast cancer awareness is now my favorite. They helped me celebrate my boyfriend's Birthday nicely. They always call me by name and make me feel like a princess. The lemon scones are the best I've ever had.
