On Friday and Saturday evenings, The Lobby features a buffet of chocolate desserts complete with bite-sized creations, a seasonal action station and live music for guests and locals to enjoy.
We went for a birthday celebration, 3 women. Very enjoyable and fun tea. Scones awesome! Sandwiches yummy.
We celebrated our 34th anniversary at The Lobby. The staff was awesome, they accommodated my request to sit by the window and later surprised us with a celebratory treat!!
Everything remains great: food, atmosphere & service
Went with my family for brunch to celebrate two milestone birthdays-mine and my dad’s. The ambiance, service, and food selection made it special. The waiter brought two delicious chocolate mousse desserts out with a candle and “Happy Birthday” written into a white chocolate bar. It was a special day :-)
Beautiful live music, good ambiance. The food wasn’t very impressive. The cold seafood station has many choices, but everything was so salty. The dessert station was the highlight. The Mille-feuille is always the best.
The food was good. Not really an ideal space but it is comfortable and easy to talk. The service was brutal. Nice guy but so very slow. Our meal came 45 minutes after we ordered it and the temperatures were varied. I wondered why the place was slow on a beautiful Saturday. If I am going to spend $100 per person there are numerous choices that are far better.
Tea and food were great. The server we had was not attentive at all.
Had a great time at the 2:30 tea. Although Holiday decorations were taken down in the dining room it was still nice.
Great cuisine with unbeatable decor and scenic views.
We went for breakfast for my daughter’s birthday, and the entire family was blown away by how beautiful the hotel and restaurant were. The eggs Benedict was terrific. Christmas decorations were gorgeous. Would definitely recommend.
Nice ambiance but food was not anything special for the price.
Exceptional cuisine and care.
Wonderful decorations, service and food !
Always exceptional food and service.
Food was excellent and so was the service. The Pennisula Lobby remains beautiful
The place was beautiful at Christmas time. Our waiter was very good. The food was rather tasteless. Filet and Mac and Cheese were both better at an Outback or Texas Roadhouse type restaurant. The dessert bar was beautiful and we sampled a number of options, none though, were excellent. Nice place for a date but don’t plan on excellent food.
One of the best places to go during the holidays.
We used our Open Table dining certificate and had a very enjoyable lunch. Sun choke soup and Thai steak salad were terrific with a bottle of pinot grigio.
Our waiter was attentive. The food was well presented. It was to use a phrase, delicious. Solid restaurant.
Annual Christmas dinner
This was far and away one of the best tea services in the city. Everything was just superb.
The Lobby is a special place to celebrate any occasion .
I've had Afternoon Tea at Peninsula Chicago on a number of occasions and it is always a wonderful experience. I visited here for Afternoon Tea and Me time on Wednesday. And as usual, I was not disappointed. The Holiday decor is very nice without being gaudy and I loved the detail of the Burgandy drapes at the Lobby entrance. The waiter was properly attentive and had a great attitude. The food is good and very well presented. The Holiday tea came with a complimentary flute of Taittinger Champagne.
The sticker price for this experience seemed a wee bit extreme, but ...
All in all, I had a great tea time there and I certainly intend to return.
My daughters birthday. It was fantastic!
Went for high tea and it was everything a high tea experience in a five-star hotel should be. The food was fine, but not an essential component to a high tea experience (at least in my opinion) -- the beautiful presentation of the food and elegant service is.
An incredible selection of fantastic food. Aside from a watery panna cotta, nothing we ate was less than excellent. The truffle eggs Benedict are not to be missed.
Something we ate has given us stomach aches.
Beautiful room and professional-yet-friendly service. I'm local, and happy to come downtown from the suburbs for a special meal -- at this location, that means afternoon tea. This used to include good food, but now the high tea looks better than it tastes. Lots of gooey sweets, a nice scone (also sweet, of course), and finger sandwiches that were unimaginative. Only the salmon was special, and I left the other three half-eaten. My server noticed this and brought me a second one, which was thoughtful and smart business.
When in Chicago I always try for a meal at the Peninsula. An extraordinary place. One of the best!
Fantastic desserts and breakfast food, but so few options for vegetarians meant I didn't get to eat that many savoury items. Service and venue are incredible.
My experience with The Lobby was exceptional. I couldn't ask for a more perfect night for my partner and I's anniversary dinner. They sat us right by the window with a beautiful view of the outside courtyard. The service was on par. Very professional. You don't see this type of service so much anymore.
Beautiful view and setting!
Always a great place to go for a meal or a cup of tea. Elegant, refined and wonderful food
Lovely as always! It's always fun seeing new items on their lunch menu.
We were in Chicago visiting from Michigan and went to The Lobby to celebrate our second anniversary. It was a very upscale place. Its was a slower night for the restaurant, but that just made it all the more romantic. From the moment we walked in till the moment we left the service was outstanding. I will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago
Great afternoon tea, great food and very flexible with options for re-fills/extra items. Very accommodating with special dietary restrictions.
Our server Ruben was amazing, very professional and also very friendly.
Best afternoon tea in the city!
I took my niece and two visiting colleagues from Tokyo for Sunday brunch. While my niece and I have been here many times before, it was a first time treat for my friends. Our outing exceeded our expectations in every way. The selection of food was impressive, even for me as a vegetarian. We all agree that the waffles are the best we've ever had, and we do appreciate the small size. The service was impeccable, the live music from the quartet was enjoyable but never interfering, and the dining room is oh so pretty. My niece and I will continue to visit The Lobby for brunch, but you now have two people who would gladly travel from Tokyo to eat here again. Thank you for helping me create a lovely and lasting memory.
Afternoon tea is an annual birthday event for my Daughter. We always have a pleasant experience.
A top class restaurant and hotel. Always a pleasure to dine or stay there.
