I can't think of a more luxurious, calming environment or a more professional team of servers and managers than those one finds at The Lobby at the Peninsula. The food is expertly prepared, and no request is too small or large to be graciously accommodated. This is one of my favorite spots to indulge in Chicago.

The Lobby has wonderful food and a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There are many different choices from various types of cuisine on the menu, and the taste of the food is always fresh and flavorful. This visit, I had the Tandoori Chicken which was phenomenal.

The setting is wonderful. The food was reasonably good - very expensive for small portions, but that was not unexpected. The Black Forest cake is mis-named, as it isn’t cake. We wouldn’t have ordered it if we had known. The service was friendly and relatively good, though we have had better service there than we did on this occasion.

My daughter and I had a lovely visit for 4:30 tea. The venue is gorgeous especially as the daylight was dimming and the holiday lights were sparkling. The assortment of tea time treats were absolutely delicious and we had no room for dinner later on. The tea was also very good. Our service was very attentive and cheerful, we had no problems with wait times for anything. I will only say that it is VERY expensive and will consider this an early Christmas present to ourselves. The glass of champagne is extra so we chose not to partake. It was a wonderful afternoon.

My mom and I had breakfast to celebrate her birthday and Ray was our waiter. We love him and he recognized us, as always, and also knew it was my mom’s birthday even before he saw it listed on the reservation. It was really a great experience and a lovely morning that spilled into the afternoon.

Beautiful room. Had never been to the Peninsula. Nice table along the window. While we were greeted, it took a long time to place drink order. Was told by guest at next table that she is a regular and the food can’t be beat so we looked forward with anticipation. When he finally took our dinner order I ordered the hamburger. I was seriously disappointed. Most tasteless piece of meat. Admittedly I said to hold the jalepeno but still it was tasteless. Ordered the fries as my side but not noteworthy, like maybe truffle fries or something fancier would be nice? I would like to suggest the chef try the Davanti burger at Davanti Enoteca on Taylor Street. Now that’s a good burger! The Waiter never checked with us after taking our order. My husband wanted a glass of wine with dinner and I would have liked some ketchup for my fries. May have liked to have heard about dessert? For $26 for a hamburger and poor service, we were not impressed and we were disappointed. Lots of places to choose from but won’t go there again. Also, lots of chaos with large groups having the tea. Good for them, us not so much.

We were promptly greeted and escorted to our table by the window. The view of the city buildings during the night time was quiet and peaceful and the beautiful garden of the Shanghai Terrace was lovely. Our waiter was polite and welcoming. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and the wine list. We felt like we had a private dinner since there were maybe two(2) more tables beside ours. We had the tuna tartare for our appetizers and it was wonderful. The tuna was freshly in quality from Hawaii. My favorite place to get tuna. We both had our entrees from the grill. Both the salmon and the scallops were perfectly grilled and accompanied with a warm delicious miso beurre blanc sauce. I could almost sip it as a side of consumée. We ended the dinner with Taittinger champagne and an Almond coconut panna cotta with mixed nuts, tiny flowers floating in a mouthwatering port reduction sauce. YUM 😋 both our waiters, Ian and Leo were exceptional.

This is a lovely, serene place to have dinner when you want delicious, beautifully plated food, but you don't want the 'excitement' (read: noise, mayhem, etc.) of the latest restaurant. Eating and chatting are SO easy and comfortable here - you can actually hear your dining companions. We've been coming to the lobby for years and have never been disappointed. Their latest dinner menu has some fantastic choices (we tried the tuna poke bowl and the chicken tikka - and both were fantastic! They include kimchee in the poke bowl, which gives it a complex and mysterious (but great!) flavor. Francisco, our waiter, was perfection itself. (The only, tiny negative was that one of the alarms in the jewelry display cases was accidentally (we hope) activated during dinner - and no one was able to turn it off for about 5 minutes. Apologies were offered all around, but it was rather ear-piercing while it sounded). In the past, we've dined to the accompaniment of a string quartet playing from the juliet balcony at the south end of the restaurant (perhaps they do that only at brunch?) It's a great restaurant - don't miss it! (Although it would seem like a 'special occasion' restaurant; one feels absolutely comfortable coming here in casual clothes.)

Fabulous, romantic dinner. The restaurant is not a "lobby", although it is off the lobby. Great views of Water Tower Place, and a lovely patio below. Attentive staff, we had a lovely Coup du Mer (aka Branzino) and everything was delicous. Fab shrimp cocktail. Creative sunchoke salad.

The Sunday buffet brunch in the Lobby Restaurant is outstanding--seafood, omelets, sushi, pastries, tenderloin topped off with their Asian section that serves Peking Duck. Service is also outstanding. Can't ask for much more.

Probably once a month to this restaurant. Waiter are very professional.. But food from the time you order and get to your table is take about (30-45 minutes) every single time. Seem always short on staff. When you finished with your food always need to get somebody to clean your table. Food is outstanding, service need a lot of improvement from this restaurant

Came because I heard good things about the Sunday brunch. Left a little disappointed. Food was just okay and not a good value for the price. Considering The Peninsula hotel originated in Hong Kong, it's embarrassing they can't get their Asian food station right. The Peking duck was not carved properly (huge chunks instead of thinly sliced), the noodles and dim sum were mediocre. The rest of the food items were a solid B.

I went to the Lobby for Afternoon tea. I eat a VEGAN diet and the website offered a vegan menu so I thought I would give it a try. The food was terrible. My friend and I were laughing the entire time because every bite we took was awful. The only thing that was good to eat was a scone. If they don't know how to make vegan food, that is understanding. However, if this is the case, it should not be advertised on the website or served. I payed the same price as the normal afternoon tea and the food was inedible. I'm not sure how the regular menu is, but if you are vegan, do NOT go here. I have been to other vegan afternoon teas that were half the price and delicious.

The tea options were limited and plain. Overall not impressed. The Lobby is overpriced.

While the males in our family attended the Bears game, the ladies enjoyed Sunday tea. A lovely afternoon... the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the service was outstanding. Jan took care of our table and made sure everyone was happy, including my 7-year old granddaughter. He went out of his way to be thoughtful and attentive, with many helpful suggestions. Live chamber music added to the ambience. It was a totally pleasant afternoon and we all had a wonderful time.

I was quite disappointed about the way dessert buffet concept was explained to me...our server never mentioned the price for the same and for a few macaroons that we took from the dessert buffet were charged $40 each!! This was a complete rip off!!

I’ve been a fine diner in Chicago area and never had this pathetic experience, esp at a place like Peninsula.

The restaurant was not crowded but we had to with over five minutes for someone to come to the host station to seat us. The hostess was sour and abrupt and seemed put out that she had to seat us. She looked up our reservation and left without a word only to return sometime later to tell me that she could not accommodate my seating request. (I requested a window seat for our special occasion anniversary brunch). When I asked what our alternative might be, she rolled her eyes, shrugged her shoulders, pointed to a table and said with a take it or leave it attitude "I can clean that one off over there you if you want". To add insult to injury, we had been seated not more that one minute when a window table right next to us became available. Rather than offer to reseat us, she immediately seated a couple who had been waiting without a reservation there instead. Finally, she failed to inform our server that we were celebrating n anniversary. Thankfully it came up in our conversation with him and he was able to acknowledge it. I expect more from a top level establishment. My wife and I live in the neighborhood...we will never return and we will encourage our friends not to visit.
