The Lobby - Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier Ratings and Reviews
First of all, the table wan not clean and felt sticky. Then we ordered medium rare for the steak but it came with over well done and even scorched, and the taste was like beef jerky. And the service of the waiter was awful, never come over to refill the water at all, and when we tried to tell him the taste of food, he didn't listen at all and just left. I will never ever come over this restaurant again and won't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I live in the vicinity and have been a fan of your Lobby Restaurant since it opened. I book brunch with friends every birthday, and often attend with friends for brunch or lunch (sometimes dinner) on other special occasions. I have always been impressed not only with the menu and quality of the meals, but also with the outstanding service. HOWEVER, on this last visit, my friend and I were both very disappointed with the poor service we received from our server, and this was (for the first time) reflected in our gratuity. Our server was not one I had seen before in your restaurant, so perhaps it was due to inexperience. She was very inattentive. She didn't provide water or ask if we wanted more coffee, didn't check in with us to see if we were enjoying our meal, and it took many attempts on our part to get her attention when we needed to settle our bill. I had recommended your restaurant highly to my companion... she's not keen to return.
We were there for Christmas dinner. We did not like the soup at all; overly greasy. The salad made up for it. We both ordered the turkey dinner. The white meat was a bit dry, and our dark meat was more gristle than not, but the gravy made up for it. It was $60 per person plus liquor ($60) so it was a really big deal for our budget. I was glad not to be cooking, and glad to be going home to a clean kitchen, so my appreciation level was high. It was a reasonably priced cab ride there and back ($10 x 2 = $20) so we could enjoy a drink with dinner. I honestly have to say I don't feel we got value for money @ $100.00 per person for the evening....I know how hard each of us works for that $100 and it's fine if you're comfortably off but there are better ways to spend $200 where one would likely get more bang for the buck. This wasn't that. sgh
They had a fixed price Christmas lunch, two or three course.
We each had the two course option which was more than enough.
The server was good and attentive.
The food arrival was appropriately timed, and most important of course the food was very tasty.
It was a very well priced seasonal meal
I was disappointed that even with a reservation for 7, we were crammed at a table for 4. We also were expecting a special Christmas menu that was not available with no apologies. Room was very noisy. We were delighted to learn wine was on special but we were told after the meal was over and we were leaving! Food was decent, but overall it was not what I hoped for.
I've been many times, especially for lunch with spouse and for business lunches. Excellent menu choices, great presentation and quantities. Go hungry! This day it was vey pre-Christmas busy. Not many servers but, nonetheless, services was absolutely excellent.
This is an annual event with very good friends and we chose the restaurant for its location and holiday décor. The service was outstanding with our server going out of her way to inform us of our choices and encouraging us to take our time. She was so friendly and kind to all of us but especially to the senior in our group.
Went for a birthday lunch. Four adults on a Thursday at noon. Waiter came quickly, offered water and drinks/coffee or tea. We ordered In a reasonable time. The table was set for two and we asked numerous times for cutlery and napkins. This request was well received but no one came until we reminded again. One order came with fries, not salad as requested. The salad was brought to the table to correct the error. We ate our food, and no one came to see if we needed anything more. We had to wave at a server to order another coffee and tea. Dessert was offered and we ordered a selection of 3 servings on one plate. The creme brûlée was excellent, the pecan tart was good and the pumpkin slice was dry.
Overall the lunch was quite ordinary and we would not return soon.
The food was tasty but the service was cold and quick. We ordered a 1/2 litre of wine with appies and though our waitress breezed by a couple times quickly asking us how everything was tasting - she never offered us anything else before bringing the bill & took away our empty carafe & glasses without offering us more wine!?! We were barely there an hour including appies, entre and dessert which is great for a speedy lunch but not great for a married couple on date night.
Used a Groupon here as well with my family and aunt from Toronto. Food were great, as most restaurant food inside a hotel are usually over cooked and this one isn't. Selection on the deal was great, food were hot and moist and it doesn't disappoint. Aunt did mention even at their regular price menu to the food tastiness ration, it has its value. There is a paid parking inside the hotel lobby, just let your server know about it and you don't have to pay.
We purchased a Groupon and give the whole experience 5 stars. The menu selections were superb: delicious, good portions and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and enhanced the enjoyment of the meal. It was all so good that we decided to purchase another Groupon to use in the near future.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to book online through Open Table, but the restaurant staff and manager were helpful in providing an explanation and facilitating a reservation for the time we preferred and gave us the bonus points for the booking. Great PR and customer service oriented.
Was a little disappointed when my filet mignon came to the table, looking more towards "well done" rather than "medium rare." However, after sharing my thoughts with one of the staff about my filet mignon, I was very impressed with the service that was taken to correct the situation. They fully redeemed themselves by providing excellent customer service. They offered to cook my filet mignon again, and they were quite prompt about it. It was much better the second time around, and they also gave us a discount on our bill. I would highly recommend this restaurant for awesome food and superb customer service.
We were 3 ladies out for a visit. Two need hearing aids so we appreciated the quiet. We have all been fairly frequent diners at this restaurant so have become to expect great food and service. Our server was excellent. Very friendly and helpful without being intrusive in our visit. We will be back!
I have been half a dozen times to this restaurant. The dinner meals are far superior to the breakfast. We came for Father's Day breakfast. The cook does not know how to prepare poached eggs without drowning them in vinegar (this happened once before and I accepted the explanation from the waitress that the cook was overwhelmed with poached egg orders and added more vinegar to the water) but I tried the poached eggs again and again they were vinegary. The waitress was extremely defensive about the fact that I sent them back saying you cannot prepare poached eggs without vinegar. Of course you can. And if you can't, you must use it spareingly. Anyway, I sent them back and got scrambled eggs in return, which were fine. The waitress then volunteered that she wouldn't have served me the eggs but she doesn't go around smelling people's food. Yikes! what a lovely reaction to people trying to have a nice Father's Day breakfast. I will likely go again at dinner, but never breakfast.
We have enjoyed the Pinnacle many times including lunch, Brunch, and for New Years . It has proven to be reliable and you can count on great food. Today, our brunch was good but like althings, its the weakest link that gets a restaurant in trouble. I guess the good thing is that that weak link will likely not last long. my Parents had the crabcake bennies which looked awesone. My wife, a fritatta and for me a simple burger. All was great. I would not say the the atmosphere was anything but a standard Hotel restaurant but it was just fine. The area is tremendous including a sunny walk out onto the pier after lunch. I would have preferred a payment that included a tab that allowed for other choices beyond, 15%, 20%, 25% or a calculated amount of my choice. Had I been able to leave 5 or 10%, I would have but the timing was a bit challenging so I reluctantly left 15%. At this rate, the weak link may not know that she left a lot to be desired as she will likley always see 15% or zero
We dined there during the "Dine Out Vancouver" with the set prix menu. The selections on the menu were good and ample portions as well as being tasty. Down side was the cocktails are a little more pricier than other places we have dined at and the music was a tad too loud, hard to have a conversation but once all the patrons got in there ,the place was quite noisy . Would go again perhaps at a different time .
