The Lobby Lounge @ The Langham Hotel Pasadena Ratings and Reviews
If you have to bring someone from out of town for a really nice experience on the weekend, consider coming to the Langham for tea. The weekend high tea is an enjoyable experience. Note, it is a bit expensive but you will remember the time versus spending the same amount on an expensive steak dinner or the like.
The Langham and their Lobby Lounge are lovely settings and worth a drive. The afternoon tea service was nice but not outstanding. The food, tea and champagne were delicious. However, the service was mixed. The hostess was nice but seemed like we interrupted her work when we arrived. We did not get the original food we ordered. The table setting was nice but the water in the flower vases was cloudy/dirty and the some of the "clean" dishes at the chocolate fountain had food scraps on them. Nothing major but for the price and ambiance, these service elements seemed unusual and easy to fix.
It was yet again another fabulous experience at the Langham Lobby Lounge afternoon tea. The teas we order were all very enjoyable and the afternoon tea food selections were also good. I love the piano playing in the background....adds a nice touch to the ambiance. Our hostess for the day was awesome and we love the fact that when our teas have turned cold, she would always make sure to serve us a HOT cup every time....we loved that!!! Thank you for an exquisite time!
Although I had made my reservation for afternoon tea a week in advance and it had been confirmed over the phone the day before, they were not ready for us when we arrived on time. The lounge was very quiet, with only a couple of other diners, do it wasn't as if they had had to wait for someone to vacate our table before setting it up. I was annoyed that we had to wait a few minutes while they did so. I also had indicated when making the reservation that I was there to celebrate a birthday. Nothing was done to acknowledge that. I had planned to buy champagne to make a toast, but that was never offered. All in all, the service was not up to par.
An elegant spot for afternoon tea. The view is amazing. The tea goodies are tasty. The selections of tea are pretty varied. I go there for afternoon tea at least a couple of times a year. Service was a bit slower than usual . It took three requests before the water I requested finally was delivered. But I will be back the next time I need an elegant afternoon tea experience.
Tea at the Langham was lovely! Everything was perfect - the view, location, service, ambiance, sandwiches, scones, desserts, and tea. We even were served a special treat - a plate of huge chocolate-dipped strawberries with Happy Retirement written in chocolate on the rim of the plate. It was a perfect afternoon!
I was excited to try the tea lunch at the Langham Hotel. My only other experience having tea has been at the Huntington Garden tea room and in comparison, the Langham Hotel fell a little bit short in some respects. To be honest, I was expecting an all you can eat buffet like the Huntington Garden tea room. I was also expecting a wider selection of food items, fresh fruit would have been lovely. There were a few too many pastries in comparison to savory items. This tea experience is definitely more about the tea and less about getting full. The ambiance was wonderful and the hotel itself as well as the grounds are spectacular. Along with good service, this was an experience definitely worth having but I would eat before coming here again.
The tea here was lovely. We celebrated a birthday and the pianist played happy birthday. Utterly charming!
The service was spotty. When they came by, they were wonderful. They were just constantly missing. And since you cannot pour your own tea, it definitely put a damper on the experience.
It was horrible! Early in the day I received a call saying that they'll be having a private event and I won't be able to sit in the usual location. She asked if I wanted to cancel my reservation, I said no, cause my party already took the day off from work and it was just very inconvenient. When I arrived, no one came up to us to seat us till I went to look for a host. When I arrive I notice there was no party of 50 and they had all the seats available! If I had canceled it would have made no sense! They were very unorganized and u professional. They should have called to let me know that the seats were available! Instead I was dreading how the evening would be and if the mothers would hate it. Service as horrible overall!
We three girls tried the afternoon tea the past Sunday, it is really good location and decoration! Cozy sofa, light music, kind staff and quite environment! But the most important thing we went for, the food are not that good, the sandwiches bread, the brownies are dry and the sweets are a little hard hard to bite. Just maybe we expect too much~ The tea is not bad btw~
Our party attended on a Sunday for the afternoon chocolate tea. The food and drinks were phenomenal. However, we were seated at a shorter table with a sofa bench and 2 regular chairs. Those seated at the chairs could not fit their legs under the table and had to sit away from the food. Being nearly 6 feet tall myself, I found this a bit aggravating. There was also a fly in one of our teacups which the waiter replaced after we expresses our concern. Our waiter also lost some points after bringing us the incorrect tea after verifying which ones our party selected. Overall, I would attend again, but at a taller table!
Fantastic afternoon tea service at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena. Excellent variety of teas, endless champagne, and selection of accompaniments. Top that off with a gorgeous view and live pianist, and you have the perfect afternoon tea experience.
Only complaint was their poor disclosure of dining time limit and enforcement of it. Our party of four was told we had to leave because we had reached our time limit and there was another reservation coming in that needed the table. We noted other similar sized tables that had been dining longer were allowed to stay and plenty of other open tables for four or more, but we were asked to leave after a three hour period. It was the only blemish in an otherwise good tea service. If this is a true policy, they should be consistent and treat all their guests the same by enforcing this policy with everyone.
Sandwiches and scones were very tasty. The sweets were made with almond flour (a bit of a healthy choice) and was light and not overly sweet like some of the teas around town.
Plus excellent service and beautiful garden view, a delightful experience! Highly recommend and worth the drive.
Our celebration at The Langham, Pasadena was perfection. It is the most authentic Afternoon Tea I have found in the US. We had a beautiful view of the gardens. My only grumble was that the service was a bit slow (but they were busy) my friend asked for a glass of water with lemon before we ordered...we waited at least 15 minutes before another waitress took that order again. Overall, it was a lovely experience and I will be definitely returning.
I've been to Langham's afternoon tea before, but not on a Sunday like today. I don't think the quality of the food was as before...most notably, the bread was very dry on the sandwiches. And I missed the classic sandwiches usually served...And I didn't really care for the scones today as they had chocolate chip in them and they were very crumbly. Most disappointing was when I asked from more clotted cream and I was told they were all out...I'll try coming back not on a Sunday, probably...
Our experience was superb. We went for Sunday Chocolate tea. All the good was amazing, the teas were excellent and champagne delicious! The only complaint I had was when we booked 3-4 weeks in advance we clearly noted one of our group was gluten allergic. We were told there were GF sandwiches and scones. When we got there, there were no scones. It isn't that big of a deal, but for the cost associated and the confirmation that there would be GF food, it was disappointing.
This was our third time at the Langham, but the first having tea. The fire was delicious but the service was atrocious. My pregnant wife and I sat and watched literally every other person be served before us, regardless of when they were sat.
We were given tea without sugar, and had to grab another waitress to bring us some. This while prices took about twenty minutes and by the time we could even sweeten our poured tea, it was cold.
When it became time to get the check and pay, it was even more difficult to find service. I have stayed here twice and eaten at the Terrace once, and have never received service like this. I would not recommend.
I am not sure what has happened to the hotel in general, but it was not as nice as it use to be. The tea area was run down and even dirty. The service was not good, they often forgot what was asked for from drinks to portions of the food. It makes me so sad, because this was such an amazing place for afternoon tea, but I would not go back.
We took my boyfriends mother to tea as a Christmas gift. The reservation process was simple and they called the day before to ask about dietary restrictions, which as someone with a severe allergy, I really appreciated.
The room is beautiful and the tea/food was truly lovely. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. We had to ask at least 3 times for anything we needed (like water) and while I appreciate their willingness to accommodate a nut allergy, my food came out over a half hour after the rest of the food, and I had to ask for it twice.
All in all, I would go back. Hopefully the wait staff was just having an off day.
The atmosphere was absolutely stunning but the service was the worst I've experienced in a long time. Waitress kept disappearing for 20 minutes at a time. Tea got cold. Did not deliver the pre-prearranged gluten free tea to one of our guests. Water took 10 minutes. She impolitely hovered when she delivered the bill even though we were continuing to relax with our tea. I would think the Huntington could do better than this especially since she is $50 per person. As a sidenote, the Christmas decorations were completely dismantled just four days after the holiday.
