The ambiance in the restaurant was wonderful and our server was great and very informative. The food was absolutely delicious. I cannot find words to describe the bread. It was amazing. I can't wait to go back.
The service from the moment me and my prom date walked through the door to when we left was phenomenal. The food was nothing short of excellent and iconic (i highly recommend "the loaf/bread) just like the atmosphere. we had a great time and would definitely go back for a second time
We have enjoyed The Little Village Downtown several times before, but were a little disappointed with our recent visit. Service was very good, as well as cocktails, wine and appetizers. Three of the four entrees that we ordered, however, were not up to the standards that we have come to expect from this restaurant. Maybe an off night in the kitchen. We will visit again.
Both Specials we ordered were wonderful. For as much as we LOVE the bread, don’t think I’d order it again with a meal. When you have a salad at lunch, it’s perfect. Just too much heavy starch, lol when you have drinks, salad. Bread and an entree feature. Overall excellent.
My husband had the veal Marsala. While the meat was quite good, the sauce tasted like a “canned” brown sauce and totally lacked the nutty taste Marsala usually has.
Très bon restaurant italien. Les salades étaient excellentes ainsi que les plats, escalope milanaise et picota de veau. Le tiramisu manquait un peu de légèreté. Au global une bonne adresse
Ordered the trout almondine.
Expected grilled fish with a savory sauce and of course almonds.
What I got instead was 2 pieces of overfried, dry fish with a few almonds sprinkled on top. Guess I should have ordered Italian.
The food and service is excellent at the Little Village. Top notch!
Birthday celebration for a girlfriend. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious!
Make SURE to have their signature bread!! NOT to be missed!
Great! Food & wine were fantastic & our server was wonderful!
I remember the old Little Village location being better. We have only been here twice since they have been in this location and have really been disappointed in the food. The entree prices are very high in my opinion and I cook a better spaghetti and veal marsala. The Parmesan bread is always good. The service this time was better. Last time the waiter ignored us and get snarky because one of the people in our party needed to know whether there was alcohol or wine in the sauces. He didn't know and said he couldn't bother the chef with the question.
Never been disappointed with the food or the service.
Food is beyond excellent, so is the service and atmosphere. The bar is a great meeting place.
Fantastic food, great fresh grilled fish, pasta, meatballs.
Very nice, service was great and we got our food very quickly. Now an anniversary tradition!
The restaurant was great. Our server was probably a beginner. He didn’t check on us enough. Our second drink didn’t get to the table until after we were finished our meal. I knew he was a rookie when he served me first and then my wife. Other than the service the restaurant was great. Would go back but ask for a different waiter.
Fabulous service and food!!!
My husband and I love little village, so he made reservations to take me there for our 11th anniversary. Upon arrival we are seated in a huge booth, closely neighbored up to strangers, sharing dining space (like a fast food restaurant). We had RESERVATIONS. I was embarrassed to even ask to move at that point, but I was so embarrassed. The hostess proceeds to ask if we were there for a birthday or anniversary, and we replied anniversary (I still don't know why, nothing special was brought to our attention). I don't expect special service for our anniversary, but I DO expect being placed at our own table where we can enjoy our conversation and not worry about whether our left OR right neighbors could hear us, b/c we could surely hear every word from their conversation. It just wasn't a "LITTLE VILLAGE" experience for sure, and I regret the $200+ we spent there.
First time dining here and can’t wait to go back!!! Very friendly staff and great food and service.
If you want authentic Italian, add this to your list, the food is good. The service is good and attentive, and you MUST order the village bread!!
Very enjoyable. Excellent service, meal and atmosphere
We were blown away at the service and food we experienced at The Little Village. The restaurant is just beautiful and so perfect for date night or any special occasion. We were greeted with enthusiasm as soon as we walked in, and our table was ready and waiting for us, even though we were a few minutes early. (Party of 6) Jeff was our waiter and took good care of us, but he was busy when we sat down and couldn’t get to us for a few minutes so Raven helped him out. That was very sweet & highly appreciated. Jeff was very knowledgeable about the menu and convinced three of us to try one of the specials. He was very patient and friendly with my 87 year old grandfather who couldn’t decide but they came to a decision together, and I personally was very thankful for that. None of us were disappointed in our choices. Even my six year old son said that was the best kid meal ever.
We were here to celebrate my husbands birthday, and asked them to bring out a birthday dish after dinner through the open table app so he would be surprised. They did not disappoint. It was beautiful and delicious.
We are thankful for the phenomenal service we received and we will be back again!
PS... you GOTTA have the bread
First time. Loved restaurant!
This place is an absolute must try. The wine list was impressive, the food was delicious and the setting of the place was beautiful. I will definitely recommend to others and will return. The dinner specials were delicious. And the bread----oh the bread!!! Mmmmm
As always, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks, great wine, and great service.
Food delicious, server good. Bar service very slow. It was very warm and they needed to turn the air conditioner down.
The food was delicious! Veal Milanese and Osso Buco are phenomenal. Our only issue was with our server. He was rarely seen and took 20-30 minutes to bring our check after he had boxed up our to-go plates. Maybe he was just having an off night but it was a bad experience in regards to service . But you can’t beat the food!
The service was impeccable (for an American experience- too fast by European standards,) and the food was really outstanding.
Even though it was busy, Valentine's night. service was excellent. Our server, Sage, was great. Very attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu and bar selections. Will return! Food was great and wide menu selections.
All I can say is WOW! The food was phenomenal and Sage our waitress was fantastic!! We can’t wait to go back!! Best place to eat in Baton Rouge!! :)
Great food and service. Did have some issue with the noise level and I was in a booth, but directly next to the bar. Someone on the other side of the partition keep banging on something, which I could feel in the booth. It was very loud and annoying, but the manager came by before it started and it was done by the time the waitress came back.
Been there many times for lunch, but this was first evening experience. Food was exquisite; as good as any I have had in Baton Rouge. Seafood stuffed filet, sea bass, fried shrimp were the entrees at our table. I managed to taste them all, and all impressed. Salad with house dressing is wonderful. Chose fried egg plant from a la carte menu as appetizer, and it was perfectly prepared. Oh, and the bread. My goodness, the bread. Service was excellent as well. Took wife for her first visit. It is now here favorite restaurant in the city. Wine list is not extensive, but solid options. New manager was appropriately attentive. Will become a regular date night destination for us as well as a place to bring out-of-town VIPs.
I came to town especially for this restaurant and made a reservation to have a nice dining experience. The restaurant was 80% empty when we arrived at 6:15pm on a Friday night and we were given the WORST table in the restaurant. First, the table was between the two kitchen doors so we were constantly bombarded with people running in and out of the kitchen. Not to mention we heard everything that went on in the kitchen. Then our table was positioned so close to another two person table, a couple trying to having a romantic dinner, we were intruding on their date night. Then everything the waiter picked up from the table to our left went over my head and dripped sauce in my hair! Once, the table next to us left the restaurant there was no peace. Four guys one worker and trainees came to this small space to bus the table. I did not enjoy being bumped into and parmesan cheese that got flung around. Then it didn’t end because a table of 10 in the private room behind me and people had to turn sideways to go between my chair and the wall to get in the private room. Then again every piece of food when in the private room went over my head and trays manage to bump me on the head every time! Don’t make a reservation at this place. Make sure you know somebody because it’s the only way to get a decent table! Our waiter tired to be pleasant since we were the only table he had. But dinner move so fast I really couldn’t tell!
The service was exceptional and the bread was amazing, as always. My boyfriend ordered the special for the night which was sea bass and green beans? It was the most awful fish I ever tasted, and I've had pretty good sea bass before. Not to mention it took forever to actually come out. My dish was also very mediocre - just a larger serving of an appetizer. Very disappointing.
Great restaurant in a city lacking in even good restaurants.
This was my second time at The Little Village - and that's because I enjoyed it so much the first time. GET THE BREAD! It's on the appetizer menu. Fresh bread, good olive oil, pecorino cheese, pepper. I literally came for the bread and a delicious lemon drop. They use Sobieski vodka - one I had not had before, but could definitely tell the difference. I'll be back when I'm in Baton Rouge again.
Our dining experience at Little Village was the most disappointing experience in years. We were greeeted warmly and seated promptly. Our drinks and bread were delivered soon and we soon ordered... at 6:10 PM on a Wednesday.... And that is where it all went horribly wrong. At 40 minutes after ordering we began to ask when we would receive our entrees. We asked again at 50 minutes, only to be again dismissed with an update of "soon". Other tables which orders after us, with larger and smaller parties were served, ate, and left while we continued to wait. At the ONE HOUR mark we still had not been served and STILL only received. Half-hearted "soon" as an update. At ONE HOUR AND FIVE MINUTES AFTER ORDERING we could wait no longer as our evening event began in 20 more min.
2 steaks, a chicken picatta, and a lasagna could not be served within an hour, with fewer than 50 people in the restaurant.
In the past 90 days I have eaten at Mansurs Ruffinos, Superior Seafood, GW Finn's, and Couchon. ALL of them were better dining experiences.
Great food! The roasted artichoke bottoms are to die for! Just wish or waiter would have told us the wine by the bottle of on 1/2 price for happy hour... We would had ordered up a little... But the meal was delicious. Don't go here if you are in a hurry!
