First time. Loved restaurant!
This place is an absolute must try. The wine list was impressive, the food was delicious and the setting of the place was beautiful. I will definitely recommend to others and will return. The dinner specials were delicious. And the bread----oh the bread!!! Mmmmm
As always, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks, great wine, and great service.
Food delicious, server good. Bar service very slow. It was very warm and they needed to turn the air conditioner down.
The food was delicious! Veal Milanese and Osso Buco are phenomenal. Our only issue was with our server. He was rarely seen and took 20-30 minutes to bring our check after he had boxed up our to-go plates. Maybe he was just having an off night but it was a bad experience in regards to service . But you can’t beat the food!
The service was impeccable (for an American experience- too fast by European standards,) and the food was really outstanding.
Even though it was busy, Valentine's night. service was excellent. Our server, Sage, was great. Very attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu and bar selections. Will return! Food was great and wide menu selections.
All I can say is WOW! The food was phenomenal and Sage our waitress was fantastic!! We can’t wait to go back!! Best place to eat in Baton Rouge!! :)
Great food and service. Did have some issue with the noise level and I was in a booth, but directly next to the bar. Someone on the other side of the partition keep banging on something, which I could feel in the booth. It was very loud and annoying, but the manager came by before it started and it was done by the time the waitress came back.
Been there many times for lunch, but this was first evening experience. Food was exquisite; as good as any I have had in Baton Rouge. Seafood stuffed filet, sea bass, fried shrimp were the entrees at our table. I managed to taste them all, and all impressed. Salad with house dressing is wonderful. Chose fried egg plant from a la carte menu as appetizer, and it was perfectly prepared. Oh, and the bread. My goodness, the bread. Service was excellent as well. Took wife for her first visit. It is now here favorite restaurant in the city. Wine list is not extensive, but solid options. New manager was appropriately attentive. Will become a regular date night destination for us as well as a place to bring out-of-town VIPs.
I came to town especially for this restaurant and made a reservation to have a nice dining experience. The restaurant was 80% empty when we arrived at 6:15pm on a Friday night and we were given the WORST table in the restaurant. First, the table was between the two kitchen doors so we were constantly bombarded with people running in and out of the kitchen. Not to mention we heard everything that went on in the kitchen. Then our table was positioned so close to another two person table, a couple trying to having a romantic dinner, we were intruding on their date night. Then everything the waiter picked up from the table to our left went over my head and dripped sauce in my hair! Once, the table next to us left the restaurant there was no peace. Four guys one worker and trainees came to this small space to bus the table. I did not enjoy being bumped into and parmesan cheese that got flung around. Then it didn’t end because a table of 10 in the private room behind me and people had to turn sideways to go between my chair and the wall to get in the private room. Then again every piece of food when in the private room went over my head and trays manage to bump me on the head every time! Don’t make a reservation at this place. Make sure you know somebody because it’s the only way to get a decent table! Our waiter tired to be pleasant since we were the only table he had. But dinner move so fast I really couldn’t tell!
The service was exceptional and the bread was amazing, as always. My boyfriend ordered the special for the night which was sea bass and green beans? It was the most awful fish I ever tasted, and I've had pretty good sea bass before. Not to mention it took forever to actually come out. My dish was also very mediocre - just a larger serving of an appetizer. Very disappointing.
This was my second time at The Little Village - and that's because I enjoyed it so much the first time. GET THE BREAD! It's on the appetizer menu. Fresh bread, good olive oil, pecorino cheese, pepper. I literally came for the bread and a delicious lemon drop. They use Sobieski vodka - one I had not had before, but could definitely tell the difference. I'll be back when I'm in Baton Rouge again.
Our dining experience at Little Village was the most disappointing experience in years. We were greeeted warmly and seated promptly. Our drinks and bread were delivered soon and we soon ordered... at 6:10 PM on a Wednesday.... And that is where it all went horribly wrong. At 40 minutes after ordering we began to ask when we would receive our entrees. We asked again at 50 minutes, only to be again dismissed with an update of "soon". Other tables which orders after us, with larger and smaller parties were served, ate, and left while we continued to wait. At the ONE HOUR mark we still had not been served and STILL only received. Half-hearted "soon" as an update. At ONE HOUR AND FIVE MINUTES AFTER ORDERING we could wait no longer as our evening event began in 20 more min.
2 steaks, a chicken picatta, and a lasagna could not be served within an hour, with fewer than 50 people in the restaurant.
In the past 90 days I have eaten at Mansurs Ruffinos, Superior Seafood, GW Finn's, and Couchon. ALL of them were better dining experiences.
Great food! The roasted artichoke bottoms are to die for! Just wish or waiter would have told us the wine by the bottle of on 1/2 price for happy hour... We would had ordered up a little... But the meal was delicious. Don't go here if you are in a hurry!
Bread is amazing!
My food was delicious(seafood stuffed eggplant).
I did think the special at $45 was overpriced and should have been told to my friends before they ordered. Drinks were very good but a little slow to come. All and all everything was very good and I have already recommended it to a number of friends.
The Company, KICK IT OUT had a 2 night performance on the week-end. Little Village is an awesome restaurant to celebrate and close in proximity. By the way, Michael is an awesome waiter! The only problem was that my food was slightly warm and not hot, but Michael took care of that.
Had a great birthday dinner. Very romantic and great overall experience. Our waiter was great and went over all the specials, won us over for the steak and sea bass. The martini I ordered was fantastic! The waiter also surprised me with a wonderful complimentary bread putting celebrating my birthday. Cannot wait to go again and eat the bread!!!
A nearly perfect marriage.of Italian and Creole cooking. The Village Bread appetizer with tapinade and roasted garlic could be a meal in itself. Lump crab meat on fried green tomato appetizer was fresh and plump, not the dried out crumbles found elsewhere.
I love the staff, I just wish the food would come out a little faster.
Great food and overall experience as usual. Never been disappointed with the downtown Little Village location!
Always a great meal! The bread is worth the price, so we always order it!
Hostess was nice enough to call us to confirm our reservation since we were running late. Place was packed. Waiter took a while to come to our Table. Bit dissapointed with the menu. Expected more variety at least in the pasta selection. We ordered an avocado salad but apparently is more of a pepper salad. The beef arancini was ok. I guess the best part of dinner was the wine.
Our dinner at Little Village was a pre-race dinner before the Louisiana Half Marathon; we had all seen good reviews, and we were not disappointed. Devin was a fantastic server and we were very impressed with the teamwork amongst the servers. Our food, from bread through entrees with wine, was spot-on. We'll be back!
The food was absolutely incredible. Everything was cooked to perfection and the wait staff was very friendly and professional. Will definitely be going back.
Not up to our expectation this year. We have had the same table for the last 5 years. This year it took way too long to be served and the sauce was NOT as good as in the past.
Pre-race carb loading for the Louisiana Marathon. The Little Village dinner has become a yearly dining tradition as a precursor to this great event. Always a bit chaotic the night before the race with many folks trying to walk in. Staff handles the high volume well, and do their best to make your dining experience pleasant. That bread and roasted garlic!!!
It was a Tuesday night and the service was not good. Entrees took a long time to come out of kitchen. Waiter was friendly but then took forever getting us our bill and then returning with the slip to be signed. Would not go back.
