The Little Village - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Hostess was nice enough to call us to confirm our reservation since we were running late. Place was packed. Waiter took a while to come to our Table. Bit dissapointed with the menu. Expected more variety at least in the pasta selection. We ordered an avocado salad but apparently is more of a pepper salad. The beef arancini was ok. I guess the best part of dinner was the wine.
Our dinner at Little Village was a pre-race dinner before the Louisiana Half Marathon; we had all seen good reviews, and we were not disappointed. Devin was a fantastic server and we were very impressed with the teamwork amongst the servers. Our food, from bread through entrees with wine, was spot-on. We'll be back!
Pre-race carb loading for the Louisiana Marathon. The Little Village dinner has become a yearly dining tradition as a precursor to this great event. Always a bit chaotic the night before the race with many folks trying to walk in. Staff handles the high volume well, and do their best to make your dining experience pleasant. That bread and roasted garlic!!!
We are frequent visitors of this location for anniversaries or other special occasions and looked forward to the same fabulous service and meals that we are accustomed to. Unfortunately, that was not the case on this particular visit with our party of 7 Christmas business dinner. Our plates for each course were brought out in phases, leaving half of us to eat while the others watched. For the entree, one dish was cold and had to be sent back. It was the soft shell crab Tuscany, and the sauce had a film on it from sitting off of heat for quite a while. Even the dessert course was brought out in pieces. One sticky toffee cake came as everyone else was finishing up and was missing the caramel topping. The second sticky toffee cake came even later and had the caramel, but everyone else was done eating at that point. The whole experience felt odd and was disappointing for a $$$$ meal.
We had a delicious meal at the Little Village. The bread was as awesome as ever! Our server, Avery, did a wonderful job. She really went above and beyond!! The atmosphere was very fun and festive. We had not been there in a while since we rarely get downtown but we hope to go back again soon.
Had a novice waiter who messed up nearly everything. My wife finished her entree and mine still was not ready. Left without eating. Restaurants did take it off my bill and gave me a $25 certificate for a future visit. That said, this is normally a great restaurant. I recommend it highly. I go about twice a month, and one bad service will not stop me.
The bread and salad were really good. The entree took an extremely long time even though the place was not really that busy. Most disappointed in the temperature of the food once it did arrive. My dish (seabass topped with crab meat) was not hot. Some bites were warm, but some were actually almost cold. Extremely disappointing considered the price.
Unfortunately we had a bad experience ordered the special bread they are known for and ours was not cooked all the way through. Ordered 2 Sea Bass specials at $45 pet plate and both were cold one with potatoe and one with collie flower. We think it was due to the food standing in the kitchen waiting on our waiter!! Too over priced for the quality and value!!
Warm welcome, seated quickly. We were celebrating my Grandsons birthday. Our waiter was quick to great us and take our drink order. He was also busy waiting on two other tables of six persons. We were a party of five.
After ten or so minutes, our drinks had not arrived. We could see them sitting at the bar. Finally, another server brought them to our table. Not a great start so far.
Now for the good part. Our drinks were great. Waiter caught up and service improved greatly. Appetizers of fried green tomatoes, crab cakes and other items were very good. The Italian bread is to die for.
Salads were good and fresh and perfectly timed.
Entrees were very good. The table tried the seafood pasta, eggplant Napoleon, meatballs and pasta, and the great steak Palermo. All were prepared to our expectations.
After a slow, but forgiven start, our celebration turned out great. We will always return to great food, atmosphere and hopefully service.
I must say that the food was out of site, great, tasty, seasoned just right. And the service was a 11 on a scale of 10. Our server was great and made us feel special. Of course I was not surprised because that is what I knew it would be, having eaten there before.
