The Lion's Share
Last, but not least, they offer hand-crafted cocktails considered amongst the best in the city in an eclectic atmosphere with a friendly staff.
Grilled Hanger Steak
Barley, broccolini, bone marrow butter, bordelaise sauce
Rabbit, wild boar, elk, pickled farm vegetables, sourdough
Aged white cheddar, house cut fries
Interesting and delicious food. They decorated the outdoor area to be very inviting. The service is friendly.
This restaurant had a great ambience, despite having to sit outside. The heating lamps were appreciated. When asked for drink/food recommendations the waiter wasn't super helpful. The food was good, very flavorful, but heavy handed with the salt on all dishes. Left a little something to be desired as I could easily dress up a skirt steak too. Overall, decent service, cool vibes, food was good but ask for extra water. Probably won't go back but worth trying if you're looking for something different to try.
The best restaurant in San Diego. Been here 5+ times and still amazing food and drinks every time.
Pre-birthday dinner celebration for my sister.
The food was excellently prepared! It was not only delicious but creative and beautiful on the plate. My husband has the duck and I had the bison strip loin. Both were juicy and cooked to perfection. The stuffed onions is a must try!!
The waitress was the best part of this whole experience. She was a gem. We would come back just for her thoughtful level of service. The food was yummy. Drinks were good, price on point for downtown.
Best food and service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Such lovely, personable, welcoming staff. Can’t wait to be back!
Our host Diana was a pleasure to have serve us. We went in for Halloween and we loved the fact that they were celebrating Christmas. Definitely eased up our night in not thinking about the pandemic and to look forward to a happy new year. The food was amazing "PIG EARS, YAAASS!!". Definitely taking up the invitation for happy hour during the week. Speakeasy vibes all the way, the decor was to die for.
Best happy hour in San Diego. Food and drink selection is unique, tasty, and well priced. Highly recommend
The menu was interesting and reasonably priced. The place had a good vibe and the artwork was amazing.
COVID safe, great staff, amazing food. They made their outside space Lion's Share charming.
Eclectic and small menu. Food was excellent both in presentation and taste.
Unique food for Southern California, delicious flavors! we had the wild boar bolognese, duck confit and the hanger steak with duck fat mashed potatoes. Portions were perfectly sized and it was not heavy. very well done! Music was a bit loud to have a conversation at a normal voice level, decor is quite interesting, wall hangings make you pause, still not sure I got much of the meaning but made you look and wonder, a good thing for any art piece! highly recommend it!
Kind of hesitant to get the word out to loud but can’t help. This hands down is the best dining experience in San Diego. Josh and the rest of the really tight squad are always on top of their game. Creative craft cocktails and an inventive menu treats you the non status quo you get from the usual eateries.
Sit down , open your mind and palate and enjoy.
Food was good. I had the burger “wild” with egg and pigs ear - was very tasty.
They have a good set up for covid and the waitress was very friendly and attentive
We sat outside because the AC wasn’t the best; but got a chance to see the interior which is impressive and buy some of the posters
Everything was good but would be much better inside if we went back again
Food was great and the service was excellent
A great atmosphere. We visited during Quarantine and had a quiet, late meal in their cute outdoor space.
Cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Always a Great culinary Experience at the Lions share.
Amazing experience at the Lion’s Share! Such delicious food and great service. Really clean, covid safe, and the place has an amazing vibe - I would definitely go again.
Food was great but loud sitting outside on the street. Servers don’t wear any kind of uniform so hard to tell who worked there.
This place came highly recommend; maybe that is why I was incredibly disappointed at the conclusion of my meal. The food just did not live up to the menu.
I’ve been to this restaurant before and had wonderful experiences each time. Unfortunately, this time was not the same. The food was not well done and they didn’t even acknowledge that it was my boyfriend’s birthday when I put it in the notes. The drinks were excellent, though. Hopefully they can get back to their usual caliber when it comes to the food!
Red deer sliders are the best burgers I've ever had. If I were a vegan, these are what would end me. Everyone should eat these, there is no way any vegetable could taste this good.
Great food and friendly/knowledgeable staff. The duck served two ways is the best!
There was a mess-up in the reservation, possibly mine..... so I strongly prefer to eat outdoors. However, the distancing was well done.
I REALLY LIKE the new menu. Out dinner was delicious, and the cocktails are always delicious.
I am SOOOOO Happy you have been able to re-open!!!!!
Conscientious service. Leisurely pace, more fine dining than casual dining. Not a vast menu though an interesting one. Exotic meats, interesting combinations. Decent wine list with something for the curious. The outdoor venue is rather whimsical, with prints of famous paintings with animated characters inserted. Cheeky without being kitsch, which actually is a good description of the restaurant.
Lion's Share is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. During Covid they have done everything possible to serve their customers in the most safe and sanitary way. Kayley was our server and she is always exceptional, as are all of their servers. Dinner was delicious, as always.
Amazing all around. Servers were great, food was incredible, drinks were the best I've had in years. Loved everything.
Excellent food, cocktails and service as always. Thoughtful transition to outside dining to retain as best possible the great ambiance.
Menu is still interesting. We’re very happy that they reopened.
We’ll be visiting there soon again.
The food is always excellent here! Even with COVID, they have managed to maintain their level of quality. You can't go wrong with this place as a date or special occasion venue.
Awesome transition to outdoor dining. Food is still great and staff is still exceptional.
These guys are doing a great job adapting to the Covid pandemic while serving clients safely. Happy to see the tables spaced appropriately and staff wearing masks at all times. Food was wonderful, a very eclectic menu with some old faithful options for the less adventurous. My only complaint is that the service was a little slow. Took us about 2.5 hours to complete our meal service with the first course not coming out until we had already been seated for about an hour. The wait staff was super attentive. I think this was just construct of probably having reduced kitchen staff right now... would definitely not let this stop me from trying them again..: but would be wary if the food was slow to come out a second time.
Despite the San Diego restrictions of only allowing outside dining experiences during these COVID-19 times, their set up along the outside sidewalk and street was surprisingly nice. We often dined here in the past pre covid and noticed the menu was limited but it did feature my favorites from their full menu. Service was good. Our cocktails were good. Burger and steak were prepared well. Portions were perfect and there was left on our plates!
Was an awesome experience. “D” our server went above and beyond in making sure we had the best experience and really made our night. The best cocktails around and really one of the best experiences for the value. Made our whole trip! Thank you D! - J9 and Jon
great food (especially if you’re a meat lover), cocktails and service!
Had great cocktails and an amazing and unique meat and cheese board.
Absolute perfection! From cocktails to desert, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had.
