Creative tasty menu with a fun twist. Love the flavorful exotic meat dishes, playful art and specials. The Wild Boar bolognese, boar burger and boar sausage were the hits of the evening.
The bread pudding was the best I've had yet. I will be back for late night happy hour.
The service was great! I loved that our server gave us a quick intro to those of us who had never been.
The food was great, I liked the variety. Will definitely be back.
Decor is dark and quirky and cool as heck. Tables are small and cozy for date night, but we were never struggling for surface area. We were seated right away and our server had a really great sense of timing-- we never felt rushed or neglected.
The cocktails were just effing super; Sky Bridge was my favorite. We both love deviled eggs and thought they were outstanding here. My entree was the PBJ biscuit with foie gras (SO GOOD-- black sesame is the nutty note on the plate and it works). My boyfriend had the antelope sliders, which I thought sounded kind of boring/safe in theory, but the meat was delicious and I was jealous. We also had a meat & cheese board in there somewhere. Presentation was lovely.
It does get loud once the bar area fills up. We saw this noted in other reviews, so we went on the early side (6pm) and had no issues with volume until the last 5-10 minutes as we finished our drinks. In fairness it was St. Patrick's Day so the revelers were out in force.
We were visiting from LA and we're already making plans to go back.
Lion's Share is a constant for me. The food is always excellent, the service friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is relaxed, vibrant, always welcoming. It's the only place I truly love in San Diego.
The food at the Lion's Share was amazing. The wait staff was attentive and courteous. We enjoyed our meal very much. Unfortunately, in the front dining room, the tables are extremely close together so there is very little conversation privacy and we ended up with a very rude woman next to us talking loudly throughout our entire meal. It really ruined the experience for us. I would otherwise highly recommend the Lion's share for the quality of the food and the outstanding service.
this is our favorite restaurant .. we've decided to become regulars at this restaurant and make this officially, "our restaurant" .. case closed.
Very cool ambience and decoration! Too noisy tough, barely could talk without yellow lol.
Our bartender, Jason, was friendly and patiently provided us with many concoctions based on our personal choices. True craftsman who enjoyed sharing his knowledge. We had such a great time, we came back the next night with more people in tow. I look forward to a return visit.
Awesome wild boar bolognese
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant! Great service! Lauren and Kayley and Josh are our favorite servers. They always take good care of us!
What an incredible find!! We found this place on Yelp & the reviews were wonderful, so we made our reservation to celebrate 2 birthdays. So glad we did. We started with some very inventive cocktails. The choices were plenty & very tasty. Next some starters - Sausage board, Bison sliders & Truffle fries. They disappeared in seconds. Absolutely delicious. Main course - Coffee rubbed Elk Loin, Wild Boar pasta, Roasted Chicken. The enticing aroma that came to the table was enough to make your mouth water. I ordered the pasta. Luckily my family allowed me to taste everything. Insanely delicious!!! I was glad I couldn't finish my meal so that I could take it home to have for lunch the next day. There are only 5 tables in the front dining room so reservations are a must. All I have left to say is "Go to The Lions Share." Probably one of the best dining places that I have ever been to.
The cocktails here are fabulous, and the bread puddings are not to be missed for dessert. Always great service.
Delicious drinks and food along with great service, you can't ask for much more. I look forward to our next visit.
Small and dark. Food was good, but a little pricy.
Our favorite restaurant in San Diego! And Lauren is the best server!
Went not knowing what to expect but was curious to check it out due to the high ratings on Yelp and TripAdvisor. Was very pleasantly surprised with the unique menu and excellent cocktails. Quite a cozy atmosphere, unique paintings lined the walls and ceiling and very friendly bartenders. Would definitely go again.
Overall everything was ok but not as amazing as every person reviewed on yelp. The coolest thing was the honeycomb on the cheeseboard. It was very loud, dimly lit, the room and bathrooms were freezing cold and parking was a nightmare. The fries were exceptionally salty too. Overall we spent $80+ on dinner for 2 (and we each had one drink) during happy. There was definately nothing amazing to take me back or refer anyone else. I did not see a value for the time and money spent. It wasn’t terrible but we expected a better experience and value. Disappointed....
Once again, the food was spectacular. The specialty drinks are to die for. Wow!
Don’t plan on an easy conversation. Way too loud.
The food was delicious. The antelope sliders were amazing. Also having a meat platter was different and just as good!
Excellent food options. Very adventurous dining options. Everything we tried was awesome. A great place to try something new. Little pricey for what you get, but tasty.
Good place! Good food and great cocktails! Cool decor and ambiance. The back room with the bar is a little loud but you wait in there until your table is ready. Would come back!
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. I would definitely recommend and will be back!
Lion's Share is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food is delicious and the servers are excellent. Josh and Lauren have been our servers for a couple of years now. Kaylie is excellent as well. Great restaurant!!!
I came here for my birthday celebration and it was well worth the drive from Carlsbad. I loved the ambience and energy of the staff and customers. The drinks were definitely different, strong but not too strong. The food was eclectic but good.
I would come back for happy hour one day!
Ambiance was great! As for the rest of our 'date night' experience--a little underwhelming. Tables around us that arrived after us were served first. Once the food arrived, my hangar steak was not cooked how I ordered it.
Not the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, but I don't see myself going back here.
Great atmosphere. Excellent craft cocktails. Wish the artwork was for sale!
Fun place. Outstanding Frisee Salad. Loved my Gimlet cocktail.
Since moving downtown we have visited Lions Share several times. Some menu items change frequently but the main items remain available. The food is delicious. The drinks are outstanding. If you make it order the bread pudding. It changes based on the season.
Very enjoyable dinner with great exotic meat selection and nice wine selection. Meat lovers will dig this cozy restaurant with a bit of British feel.
Everything was great until we were asked to leave the table for other coming reservations, that was really rude.
This was a very unique experience. It offered very unique food choices and most of the menu was hand crafted cocktails.
Great food with friendly staff
Interesting food and cocktail menu
The physical space and decor was quirky and charming—strong point for the establishment. Non-alcoholic cocktail was lovely—crisp, light, tangy (ginger, lime, butters). Arugula salad was lovely with well balanced flavors. Boar poutine was not poutine—there were no cheese curds, just melted cheese and meat sauce over French fries. Acceptable flavors but nothing special. Sticky toffee pudding was terrible—toffee was burnt, cake was dry. Our server was warm and helpful. She offered to (and did) remove the dessert from our bill.
Great find. Our table started with the Federal Buffalo Stamp, a craft cocktail made with bourbon, lemon juice, ginger root, and maple. It even comes with a ginger candy garnish. We had 4:30 reservations because we were going to a show at the SD Civic Theater. Anyway since we were there early, happy hour was in effect. Our drinks were only $6! Awesome. Also enjoyed the Antelope Sliders and Blue Cheese Bruschetta (also on happy hour). For dinner two of us had the Grilled Hanger Steak with a bone marrow bernaise sauce. Cooked to perfection. It just melted in your mouth. My wife had the Roasted Chicken with carmelized fennel, polenta, and a spinach puree. She loved it. My friends wife had the Coffee rubbed Elk Loin with brussel sprouts and red wine reduction. She polished it off wanting more. Great eclectic restaurant with a cool English Pub feel.
Enjoyed the variety of food uniqueness n service was wonderful n helpful describing the mixture of foods
We had family come in the week for Christmas and we wanted to try something different. The menu here is different and we tried a variety of items including Wild Boar Ragu, Antelope sliders, caramelized cauliflower which were all good. However, the Coffee-Rubbed Elk Loin had a nice flavor however one of the entrees, two people had it, was all fat and not edible.
The cocktail menu was interesting and they did a nice job with them.
It is a fun Speakeasy hangout! Good for birthday Surprises, parties or anniversaries :) Good hand crafted drinks and yummy desserts!!
The cocktails and appetizers were amazing. You have to try the Federal Stamp cocktail, PB&J Foie Gras, carmelized cauliflower and ceviche. Great service and wonderful food and I will definitely go back!!
