It all started in 1992, when Annette and Gerner Andresen opened the Lighthouse Café in Sausalito in its present form. The Andresens, both born in Denmark, had recently immigrated to the U.S., and along with them they brought the Scandinavian flair for simplicity, good quality and tasty food. The café has over the years become famous for its breakfast and lunch, with American classics like good old-fashioned burgers and a great selection of omelets, along with Scandinavian classics like Danish Meatballs or Norwegian Salmon. Now with four restaurants, The Bar & Grill offers Brunch Lunch & Dinner.

It was hard to wave down a waiter sitting outside. It was surprising to be charged for extra dressing since both our salads were dry.

Food and service were decent - nothing outstanding. We chose this venue for outdoor dining on the water (lovely view). However they only have 2 heat lamps for a very large area and both were broken. Amidst typical SF fog and wind, this made it impossible to sit outside (no one else did so either). This is really unacceptable. Furthermore, the Friday night MC hosted step dance indoors was not only hokey (think Midwest/middle America), but it was WAY too LOUD which made it virtually impossible to have a conversation with friends at our small table. We would have ordered more wine as well as coffee and dessert, but the noise was literally giving me a headache and really annoying. So we left the minute we finished dinner. Lousy atmosphere killed it for us.

a somewhat sterile interior with a lovely view ..terrible parking mediocer food but high prices ..a 20$ hamburger over cooked and not a wonderful ,, In general the Marin "LIGHTHOUSE " restaurants are wonderful for breakfast and this is the worst of the three lighthouses in Marin as far as the food... It serves as a convenient club house for the country club and it has night time hours and drinks so that makes it popular ,But it should be a lot better as its prices need to be lower and the quality of the food needs to be higher .

We brought another couple to the club for dinner and I believe everybody was impressed. It’s always a beautiful view, our server Andrew was excellent, and the food was quite good.

There was a private event taking place that wasn’t separated from the main dining area, and it completely overtook the atmosphere—from the noise level to the speeches and overall ambiance. It made it difficult to enjoy the meal or have a proper conversation.

Terrible. The service was awful. The waitress was rude. When I asked what the pork chops came with she was starring out the window. When I asked again she said I don’t know it says right there ( pointing to the menu). She never came to refill drinks. The food is pricey for what you get. No rolls no soup no salad. The food was okay but not worth the price. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it.

I have been going to the Lighthouse every Wednesday evening for the last three years. Last night it was a balmy summer evening, and the windows were open, and the sliding glass doors were open, which made for a magnificent atmosphere. The views are gorgeous of the old water, the sea birds and the mansions. Our host Kenneth did a wonderful job helping us with our event. We were very grateful for all his kindness and special touches as always, our waitress Sara and her bus boy Luis were wonderful, attentive, and as sweet as pie.

We reserved 5 seats and learned when we arrived at the restaurant that the inside area was closed because of a private event. The weather was windy and it was a bit uncomfortable. It would have been nice to know the private event was occurring. It would allow us to visit another day when we could be inside.
