   A wonderful restaurant with great atmosphere. Well worth the price for the steaks and the desserts are amazing.

   The lamb was incredible. Potatoes au gratin, also delicious. Service was too-notch. Highly recommend eating here.

   Restaurant was more crowded than usual as it was Thanksgiving, but we were seated on time, and the service was excellent. Everyone was smilng!

   I am a Portsmouth native and I'm not sure why it took me 48 years to go to the library because I will certainly go again. My husband and I went for the Thanksgiving special and although it was very, very busy and we had to wait 15-20 minutes beyond our reservation time- the food and service were excellent.

   The Library Restaurant has a wonderful old, dark wood interior, and it has been kept up considering the age of this building, once a grand hotel. The service was great, seating was comfortable, and the bar was an available option, and was well staffed as we waited for our table. While the food was good.... a Thankgiving dinner prepared with care, the little extras could have been better for a dining room such as theirs. For a coastal town, in a well known foodie culture, the clam chowder now being served should be ELIMINATED! It was canned.... tastes like a famous local brand. Ugh! Considering the ease of making great chowder, this was a glaring mistake by the chef! Also, the ‘House Garlic Bread’ was a grocery store baguette.... and a cheap one at that... which was well flavored, but it would be worth the attention to provide a better product. The bill was on the 4 star side... a little more than average... which I’m happy to pay for 4 star food. This was not that. Good, but not great! My 88 year old mother liked it.... but didn’t rave about it either. Oh, the Crab Cake was very good.... the sauce it sat on was somewhere between acceptable and strange..... but the Crab Cake was delicious, and cooked very nicely!

   My wife was out of town so my son (6) and I went there for Thanksgiving at 2pm. We were seated early and there was a crowd of people who didn’t have reservations. The waitress was pleasant. The food amazing. Going back for steaks. A++++++++++

   Excellent service, excellent food. Not cheap, but consistently excellent. great wine list. Even my vegetarian son found something great to eat. Highly recommend.

    Well done. Service and steaks were great! Wine glasses need an upgrade.
