One of my favorite downtown restaurants, especially when I go to the Public Theatre.
This is a very good solution to eating before or after the Public Theater productions. The menu is not very adventurous but is very adequate and reasonably priced if a little on the higher side of that. Service and ambivalence are very pleasant.
Great night celebrating my wife's birthday. They made us feel very welcome and the server did a great job even with a broken finger. Food and cocktails were delish. Thanks a bunch guys!
Best mussels I've had in a long time! Excellent service, including a welcome reminder when it was time to catch the 7pm play.
The meal started off well with nice service, great drinks and appetizers; the main course was good but slow. By desert we had to ask 3 times for our check to make our show on time. Our waitress had gone missing. Not a good finish.
If you're going to a play at the Public Theatre, this is pretty unbeatable from a convenience point of view, as the restaurant is in the same building. The food is good enough and there is a nice wine list. The restaurant has no windows so I wouldn't go there during the daytime or in the summer when the sun is still shining during the pre-theatre time.
Attentive server, she was knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections by the glass. Nice ambience.
I love Joes Pub, and we had drinks here before seeing a show. As a foodie, I kind of wanted to be wowed because the ambience is so nice. Also its the same exact menu that served at Joes - would feel more special if the food was different or there were specials. I'd probably only come back for a drink.
Great atmosphere and delicious food
Great meal good drinks
REALLY NICE ATMOSPHERE - GREAT IF YOU ARE SEEING SOMETHING AT THE THEATRE THERE OR IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.HAMBURGER IS GREAT, SALMON GREAT but AS DELICIOUS AS THE VEGAN MEAL OF CAULIFLOWER WAS THERE -IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO CALL A MEAL -DISAPPONTING ALSO IT WAS DESCRIBED BY WAITRESS AS HAVING OTHER SEASONAL VEGETABLES IN IT - THOSE WERE 4 STRINGBEANS AND 1/4 OF A SMALL TOMATO -A BIT PALTRY
The burger and steak were over marinated. Too much soy/teriyaki masks the flavor of the meat. Disappointed with the main dishes. The beet salad was fresh and delicious as was the butternut squash. Cocktail was a bit strong, but overall satisfying. Our waiter was amazing and the ambience was very comfortable. I would not get dinner here again, however. Appetizers, salads, drinks and dessert would be my choice next time.
Library is a gem and great addition to the public theater. So convenient for pre or post theater and menu always good
Wasn't very happy with my experience. I thought the restaurant was open until 12 so I made a reservation for 10:30. The first thing that was odd to me was the call I received the day before from the hostess, that due to their kitchen closing at 10:30, their Restaurant Week menu would not be unavailable to us. Fine. Not the reason for our visit but when we got there (on time for our reservation), the waiter said that the kitchen closes at 11. We felt rushed the entire time after that. So I'm not happy with our visit, but did think the food was good. Not sure I would return though.
This was great! The Library came recommended to me by a friend, and my date and I made a reservation for restaurant week. The service was outstanding, the food was great, and the ambience was fun and understated. My only regret is not getting tickets to the 9:30 show at the theatre! Will definitely be coming back.
Menu could be better particularly for pre 7 pm curtain...
Lovely room, great service but could use a soup or a salad wl protein as a choice.
Calamari, mussels and beet salad all good but could use something me additional small or sharing plates.
Noisy with a special event occurring in the same dining room as patrons dining from the menu.
Menu was limited and service less than impressive.
I was planning to see a show at Joe's Pub downstairs and wanted to get some drinks and light bites beforehand with friends. The Library has a great selections of crowd-pleasing food, and the cocktails were delicious (which prompted me to have a nice buzz before the show). The setting is cozy, warm and inviting, and the servers are great. Always an enjoyable experience.
Nice place, but bring your wallet. Thought it was too expensive, even with fixed price dinner for 2
Our waiter nick was incredible
