Excellent dinner. Lovely wine list. Very intuitive and friendly service. Server overheard a conversation about a birthday and then surprised us with dessert. Over the top. Every single person was friendly and helpful. Food was wonderful. We love it here.

My husband and I have been coming here for 8 years now. The food and overall quality has gone downhill. We were there for our Anniversary (as we mentioned on the open table reservation), and there was no mention of it.

If I were 20 something and looking for a cheap happy hour I'd go there again. Not for a special occasion.

Our waitress was great! Coffee was good, didn’t run low, etc.
However the brunch buffet was seriously lacking. The majority of the food was cold the entire time we were there—mind you brunch started at 10am and we were there at 10:30, French toast was hard as were the meats on the cutting board station and the eggs were halfway to hard as well. The quiche looked great, until I bit into it and realized it was really under cooked, so that was disappointing (and then gross since I had to spit it out). The fruit and yogurt parfaits were at least good!
I know $22.95 for brunch buffet is more affordable than some of the other brunches in the area but I don’t think that should mean the food quality is lesser. I brought my father in law along to brunch since he’s visiting and I felt like I had to apologize after brunch because it just didn’t live up to quality brunch standards compared to the other places we’ve eaten when he’s come to visit.

My wife and I dined here for a brunch date recently. We took one look at the buffet and our minds were made up. The selection was unbelievable, especially for the price. I went back for more pizza and fried chicken, and the biscuits and gravy alone were worth the trip. And this may seem like a small thing, but the coffee was truly delicious. Go for the iced chocolate brownie for dessert. Or skip dessert and hit the main buffet again.

The service was exception, no one hovering over us but glasses stayed full.

I recommend a reservation for brunch.

We have been several times for Sunday brunch and highly recommend. We decided to try dinner on a weekend and it was...blah. Service was merely ok - we had to keep finding someone to ask for additional drinks and our order came out wrong. It was loud. The food was so-so. I will continue to recommend for brunch but we won't be back for dinner anytime soon.

I was told by others that this is a great place to eat and might be the best brunch spot in Arlington. But I honestly wasn't pleased with my experience. While there was a wide variety of food items, every single thing was cold. Literally everything. I'm not sure if there were burners underneath, but if there were they weren't working.

The waiter also did not introduce himself, barely spoke, and when he did, he was so quiet I could barely hear him. I had never been there before for brunch and didn't really know the set-up so it would have been nice for him to introduce himself to our table, explain the brunch set-up and then ask who wanted what. He just was not attentive at all and just not very personable. They did accommodate me adding 3 more people last minute which was nice. I've been there only once before for dinner and it was fantastic. But for brunch, overall dull experience and I wouldn't recommend.

The wood-fired pizzas are always good -- great combinations on the menu, or designs your own from high-quality topping choices. Two of us enjoyed the fresh pasta options: my gnocchi with sweet potatoes and apples was the perfect cold weather combination. Service has always been good for us: efficient and just friendly enough.

I took my 7 yr old son to Liberty Tavern for New Year's day brunch. We had a reservation for 10am (opening time) and arrived at 9:55. They held everyone in the lobby for the 10am seating, which had many families. The service was excellent (and unexpected given the holiday), and the food selection was perfect, especially for the price. While both me and my son enjoyed the food tremendously. it was not very hot (the eggs and french toast were quite cold). Given that we were the first seated patrons, I was surprised at the low temps of the food. That said, the food was tasty, plentiful, and the dishes were refilled consistently. The quiche was outstanding, and I would go back for more of that alone! We both loved the eggs and french toast, and who doesn't love some good chocolate desserts. Wish there was a bread station of any kind, but not a huge issue. Would definitely go back.

We have been here several times, we live a few blocks away. We love that you can get unique pizzas and amazing entrees. The LT Margarita I had will now be my mainstay cocktail, it was perfect! Our waiter was good but tried to upsell too much. Liberty Tavern is amazing, you don’t have to try to sell us more!! Overall A+ we will always be back! Happy NYE OpenTable and Liberty Tavern!

I went to Liberty Tavern with my friend for New Years Eve. We ordered the wings, the half chicken and dessert. The appetizer and entree were delicious. It was fresh out, still piping hot and well seasoned and juicy. We loved it! The desserts? Not so much. Unlike the appetizer and entree, the desserts weren't freshly made. The waiter comp'd them from our bill because we were dissatisfied. Overall, a great experience.

I've been to Liberty Tavern on a variety of occasions which have been fun and satisfying for the most part -- but not reliably so. The food is surprisingly good, given the atmosphere is more "lets get together and have fun and drink." And in that story line, the wine is quite good -- I had a very decent cab, my friend whiskey of some sort.

The food has generally been good, although this time the pre-dinner caesar salads were disappointing -- chopped up not-very-fresh or green romaine of sorts with no taste of garlicky, ceasar dressing. We also tried a white pizza which was good enough to eat but nothing special. Previously, my husband and I have had great full dinners there, and a lunch experience was also good.

I guess that means you never know.

The noise level was much better upstairs than down (where the bar was). I took my family of four along with my dad and stepmom. You could hold a conversation upstairs pretty easily in this Italian-oriented grill. The food was fantastic, and is all made fresh by hand on site, nothing shipped in or frozen. Not terribly expensive given its location in Clarendon/Wilson Blvd area. Sufficient beer and wine list for most occasions.

My daughter, who chose a grilled cheese and tomato soup meal, was the only person who voiced a negative opinion. However, in my view she took the least interesting choice and got nothing unexpected. I had a bite later and it was above average for what it was.'

On to the better fare though -- the octopus appetizer was delicious, the salmon was excellent according to my wife (it wasn't around long enough for me to get a bite!), and I had the crispy pork shank which was superb. Half of it came home with me, though, since it was huge.

Their homemade sorbet -- including coconut! -- makes a fantastic end to dinner, although they had many other scrumptious options as well. I tried a spoonful of the richer, gooier things my family ordered and all were great.

Our total bill for six people, which included a couple rounds of drinks for the grownups, several appetizers, and desserts for everyone, was about $240. We really splurged, though. You can figure more of a routine meal for two there is probably closer to $50-60, which is very reasonable. My father and stepmom enjoyed their meals and since they're moving nearby, intend to go there regularly. When I come up to Arlington to see them I'll definitely tag along!

Great restaurant in clarendon! I have always loved their food and service. I just wouldn't recommend the restaurant if you are vegan. The only vegan options a la carte was a side of home fries. Other than that it's a great meeting place to grab food and drinks.

The food at Liberty Tavern is terrific. I had the pizza with caramelized onions and it was scrumptious, as was my Bloody Mary. Except for the brunch dessert buffet, which is meh. But the noise and crowding upstairs was really bad on Dec 16th; I literally had to bump the chair of another diner repeatedly to get myself, my coat and my purse situated, and once wedged in, I could barely move.

The kindly hostess got us another table that was easier - she was awesome and brought us an order of pancakes on the house to make us happy - but it was still really noisy and stressful. I've been to the tavern several times in the late afternoon, and sat downstairs for a drink and it was lovely, which is why I keep coming back.

I know it's a financial decision, but the whole experience would be improved very much by reducing the number of tables upstairs so that one doesn't worry about knocking someone's food in their lap if one has to leave the table.

The service was way below usually high levels. Food came to the table before our initial drink orders arrived, so very little sense of sequence and timing of the dining experience. we specifically asked for a cast iron skillet cookie with three candles for three birthday honorees but the dish came with only one candle and the shortfall was acknowledged with a shrug — effectively, “oh well, sorry about that.”

Food was good (I had french toast, the other guest had ceasar salad) but the service was lousy! It took them more than 5 mins to get my a spoon for coffee, by which time my coffee was almost cold. Same thing for salt and pepper - my food was cold by the time it arrived. Even after asking for the check, we waited for at least 15 minutes, at which time we decided to go in and pay. We could have left without paying and no one would have cared?!

Liberty Tavern remains a solid and consistent bet among the increasingly crowded Clarendon food scene. This time we were seated upstairs which provides a more sedate scene away from the cacophony that is their ground level bar. Still a little loud, but quite enough for a good conversation. The lamb ribs were well prepared and seasoned as were the main courses. Both the flank steak and chicken sausage pesto pasta dishes were very good and well worth the price.

Myself and 5 friends went for Thanksgiving Day dinner. It was a nice buffet, with plenty of traditional fare - including a carving station featuring roast beef, turkey breast, and honey ham. As with many Thanksgiving Day dinners, there is never enough gravy - as was the case here too. The only odd aspect in the restaurant was the lighting, which was on as bright as possible. We asked about the lighting and were told that per Health Dept regulations that the lighting had to be this bright when a buffet service is offered. Who knows? That's probably true, but it really took away from the ambiance. Comparatively, in the past when I have been there for dinner (ordering from the menu) the ambiance is quite inviting with much lower lighting and candles on every table. Would I go back for Thanksgiving Day dinner? No. Not that the food wasn't enjoyable, but I think I can find a more overall enjoyable (lower lighting, non-buffet) experience.
